DISCLAIMER ! DISCLAIMER !!! DISCLAIMER !!!

The Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Dawanau wishes to clarify the following:

It has come to our notice that a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) by name Creative Helping Needy, has been sharing the video above of a woman who reportedly slept in our facility for 3 days waiting to be consulted. We have conducted a thorough investigation to confirm the veracity of the allegation.

Firstly, there was nothing in the video to prove that the above said woman was at the gate of FNPHD Dawanau, Kano, the said woman was not seen by any of our staff at the gate or at the clinic, and there were no relative with the woman in the said video or voices to prove their presence.

Secondly, our outpatient card cost ₦300 for a new patient and ₦200 for follow-up cases. It isn’t logical for the family members to afford transport fare from Kura Local Government to FNPHD Dawanau and fail to afford ₦300 or ₦200 naira as the case may be. If she was left alone there, what kind of caring relative will pick the woman up from Kura local government to FNPHD Dawanau, Kano and abandoned her to sleep for three days by the road side on her own with her infant?

Thirdly, the FNPHD Dawanau runs her own O.P.D clinic Monday to Friday with the Morning and Evening shift. How could she be waiting for three days without being consulted by a doctor?

Fourthly, we have a whole Medical Social Work Unit, even if she lacks ₦300 or ₦200, to buy a card, if they are notified by any of our staff that would have been taken care of.

We want to emphasize that our hospital maintains strict Patient Management Protocols, no patient is allowed to run freely within the hospital grounds without proper admission and supervision.

From the fore-going, it is our conclusion that the said NGO did not make this post in good faith, their claim was anything else but the truth because they didn't make any attempt to verify the claim and we believe that their motive may be was to use the poor woman to defraud unsuspecting public their resources.

We therefore call on the members of the public to please always verify this type of claim with the Management of FNPHD Dawanau Kano before giving out their hard-earned resources to possible fraudsters in the name of helping the poor unsuspecting mentally ill patient who will always possibly have their image tagged without their consent.

We urge the public to rely on official sources of information and to refrain from sharing unsubstantial claims online.
