Dr. John Namaza Nyiring, the Bishop Roman Catholic Diocese of Kano, The Sisters of Daughters of Charity, our clients and patients, all staffs past and present, Know Your Body As a Woman Gender Selection- KYBAW the entire public who have one way of the other contributed to all we have achieved. May God continue to bless you.

It's currently going on from 2nd August to 8th August, 2023 at St. Thomas Parish Hall, Kano.

BILLING'S METHOD OF NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING SIMPLIFIED.

Have you ever noticed something that looks like raw pap or uncooked egg white on your pant?

If yes, it's called CERVICAL MUCUS.

The one that looks like raw pap mixed with water is called INFERTILE MUCUS. It's usually thick and sticky but not slippery.

The one that looks like raw egg white is called FERTILE MUCUS. It's usually thin, stretchy and slippery.

The body naturally produces the mucus prior to your Ovulation and that's why you tend to feel wet and s*xually aroused close to your Ovulation.

The fertile mucus basically do the following for you 👇

💥 It makes you feel h***y during your Ovulation period in order for you to enjoy s*x and conceive.

💥 It traps sperms and can keep them alive for up to 5days before your egg drops. This is the main reason you can still conceive even with the s*x you had some days before your Ovulation day.

💥 It helps the sperms swim easily to the fallopian tube where conception occurs.

So, the BILLING'S METHOD OF NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING utilizes the knowledge of this mucus to avoid conception.

So, if you must use this method, you must be one seeing her mucus every month.

You also need a book where you record anything you notice in your va**na.

Once your me**es starts, mark it as day 1 with red biro.

Keep marking until the me**es stops.

Then you focus on checking for mucus.

Once your me**es stops, keep marking the days according to what you see. If there's nothing at all you noticed, mark it as dry.

Then you notice the pap mucus, mark it as infertile mucus.

Once you start noticing egg white mucus, mark as fertile mucus and note that you have entered your danger period.

Any s*x you have from the first day you noticed that fertile mucus until the day it ended has a high chance of leading to pregnancy.

So, once you mark your fertile mucus, avoid s*x until you have stopped seeing the mucus and add extra 3days to it before resuming s*x.

You will know the day the fertile mucus has stopped because your va**na will either go dry or you start seeing infertile mucus again.

3days after the fertile mucus has stopped till your me**es comes is your free period.

Also note that the early days after your me**es that you were dry or seeing infertile mucus is also your free period.

If you can do the observation for 3months, you will notice that the fertile mucus comes within the same period every month for most women.

Mark those particular days it used to come and all you need is to avoid s*x a day before that very day the fertile mucus used to START and keep avoiding s*x until 3days after the fertile mucus have STOPPED coming it.

NOTE: Most nursing mothers don't see their mucus consistently.

So, they have to combine this method with calendar method.

Note: the days in the picture aren't same for everyone. Just note the days of your cycle you usually see your own fertile mucus

I will treat calendar method of fàmily planning as our next topic.

Don't put your life and that of your baby in danger just because you have labelled va**nal delivery as Hebrew women delivery. We doctors always do our best to give you your desired method of delivery but not when lives are at stake. The method of delivery isn't as important as lives of you and your baby. Today's work was awesome, to the glory of God.

Around mid day at work, someone brought one man for a test.

He said the man was preparing for marriage and needs to confirm his genotype.

According to him, he has done it in 3 different hospitals before.

He handed the results to me and i went through them.

One was AS while 2 were AA.

He said he needed to be sure because his wife to be is a known AS.

He said he didn't go to work yesterday because he has been restless.

According to him, the lady that gave him AS result said she ran his sample 3times and they all came out as AS.

So, his friend told him about our hospital Mother of Good Counsel Hospital and Clinics and how trusted we are and he decided to come.

He just paid 1k which the hospital charge for the test and i took his sample.

I had to bring him inside, he watched me set his sample and i also made a sketch on a paper to explain what different genotype results looks like in the machine.

The machine started counting down to 10mins before displaying the result.

I asked him to wait outside until he hears alarm from the machine ( the machine makes sound once the result is out).

I could practically hear his heart beating very fast in anxiety as he waits for the result.

He heard the sound of the machine outside, more than me that was in the lab and rushed in immediately the result came out.

Even the wife to be followed us to time the test where she was. As he was entering the Lab, the wife to be was already calling to find out what the result was.

Thank God the result came out as AA.

He could not contain his joy and kept thanking me as if i did something special for him.

I was so happy for the man too.

He said he was going back to the lady that gave him AS to para for her 😂😂😂.

Now i understand why one of the interviews of our hospital is running genotype samples.

They will give you samples of different genotype to run (AA, AS, AC, SC, SS) and you must get all of them correctly to prove your competency.

Just make sure you run genotype test in reputable labs and confirm it like twice before marriage.

Today is world sickle cell day. Know Your genotype before getting married. Don't stubbornly get married to AS genotype if you are also AS. You stand a high chance of giving birth to SS child. No child deserves the kind of suffering that goes with sickle cell crises. Had i known will always come at last. Much love from all of us Mother of Good Counsel Hospital and Clinics

Not every illness is typhoid and malaria. Normalize running tests before taking any drug. Mother of Good Counsel Hospital and Clinics doesn't treat without proper test ran by our medical lab scientists. Every drug you take have their possible side effects. RHESUS NEGATIVE WOMEN AND RHOGAM INJECTION.

There are many blood groups but, just two have a major clinical significance in man.

These are ABO and Rhesus blood group.

ABO blood group i mean is group A, B or O while Rhesus could either be negative or positive.

It's combination of these two groups that you hear when people say "I am O+ve, O-ve, A+ve, B+ve etc". When you see O+ve, it simply means blood group O, Rhesus positive.

We are not going to talk about blood group and blood transfusion as there is hardly blood transfusion problem these days.

Kudos to the doctors and medical lab. Scientists (including my humble self☺️☺️) that make sure that patients are transfused with right blood group.

We are going to talk about Rhesus negative women wahala.

When one is said to be Rhesus negative, it means he/she doesn't have Rhesus antigen on the red blood cells while Rhesus positive is vice versa.

This is of paramount important in pregnant women.

When a woman that doesn't have Rhesus antigen (Rhesus negative) marrys a Rhesus positive man, there is a high possibility that the unborn baby could get the antigen from the father.

When this happens, the mother's blood is going to see it as strange/foreign antigen (sensitization) and start developing antibody to fight it in case it comes in the subsequent pregnancy.

This antibody is only developed if an injection known as RHOGAM injection is not taken within 72hrs after delivery.

Therefore, care should be taken to make sure it is taken at the right time.

A situation it was not taken, the antibody will be formed and it could lead to miscarriages or still birth in subsequent pregnancy.

This can only happen in Rhesus positive man and Rhesus negative woman that gave birth to Rhesus positive child and fail to take the injection.

Aside from delivery, the injection should also be taken after miscarriage or abortion in Rhesus negative women.

This has been a major cause of miscarriages in Rhesus negative women especially in those that put to bed in local places that may not have the injection (expensive, ranges from 30-50k depending on the hospital) and also doesn't know the implications.

If the child is negative just like the mother, there is no need for the injection.

Rhesus positive women do not need the injection whether their husband is negative or positive.

Also, if both couple are negative, there's no need for the injection.

This is a serious issue as some couple that have only one child and having several miscarriages are facing this particular issue.

Worst of it are Rhesus negative ladies that had abortion before marriage and failed to take it, the lady may face several miscarriages when she gets married.

So, if you are Rhesus negative and you are flying around (with men you don't know their blood group) before marriage with the hope of committing abortion if pregnancy occur, be sure you have money for Rhogam injection🙄🙄.

Don't just start calling witches and wizard or village people in a problem you created for yourself.

Lastly, you can help your wife or sister by reminding the doctor to get the drug close to her due date if there's need.

Also, make sure it was administered to her before she leaves the hospital with the baby (don't be carried away by the joy of the baby because even the doctor can forget).

Help stop miscarriages and still birth in Rhesus negative women.
