Transpalpebral enucleation in a kitten with a penetrative corneal ulceration!

Five days ago, our attention was drawn to this little kitten and it's painful eye condition. A minor surgery was first performed to remove the scab over the cornea and an ophthalmic preparation containing antibiotics and anti-inflammatory agents and another containing medication for reducing intra ocular pressure was administered. Three days later, we received a call that the eye wasn't getting better so we opted to take it out. We finally enucleated the bad eye after aspirating about 8 ml of pus from the eye chambers. The kitten is doing pretty great as at when we last visited.

She was brought to the clinic when flies were all over the perineum. Unknown to the owner, the fetuses had been dead for more than 24 hours. All triplets were extracted dead. What a loss!

Our findings upon vaginal exploration: The first fetus had a left lateral flexion of the neck and both forelimbs were extended caudally, leading to dystocia. As at the time of presentation, the first two fetuses were already emphysematous.
