When I was sacrificing my looks and pleasure during NYSC to save up for my business, it didn't make sense to allot that a corper who was receiving allawee was always complaining she didn't have money for certain things.

I literally had to barb my hair at some point because almost everything I was getting was saved up to start a business.

It didn't make sense to many. I still remember that my nickname was stingy Koko. You have no idea what I've been through.🥺

Whenever there was a hangout that needed any sort of contribution, my co corp members will exclude me. They will say, Adija will say she does not have money. She's always broke.

I sacrificed allot just to start up my business in 2020. I could not go out like my friends were doing. I could not get myself a good phone like my friends were doing. I could not afford to make my hair every two weeks or every month like my friends were doing.

But when it looked like I was being very stingy on myself, only I knew that in order to be able to fulfill my dream of being a foodstuff vendor, I will have to make allot of sacrifices in order to see it coming true.

I remember that when it looked I wasn't meeting my savings target and time was running out, I barb my hair just so I could add the money I spent on my hair to my savings.

When I finally opened my shop a month before my POP, you will think I could afford to do the things I have always wanted to but s still could not because my business was just in a sowing stage.

In order to get it to the level I have always wanted to, I had to do all the work by myself because I could not afford a help at that time.

I will go to the market and carry baskets of tomato and sacks filled with vegetables in my head because I was trying to cut down additional cost.

On the days I didn't carry food from home, I knew I garri will be in trouble that day because it was all that I can afford at that time. My business was just in a crawling stage and if I must succeed, I knew better than to spending from my shop money.

I can remember the amount of events I could not show up for because I didn't have the appropriate outfit for them. Damn, I could not even afford to go for weddings that I was amongst the brides friend.

Most times, I will send in my apologies and excuse, but in real sense, I didn't want to go anywhere not looking my best.

Today, the business I could not take from is what is paying my bills and that of my children.

Today I can afford to wear good hairs and good phones just like every other person.

Today my only excuse of not showing up in an event is lack of time and not lack of appropriate outfits.

You see everything beautiful takes time, sacrifices and determination.

It will not make sense to people but ofcourse, it does not have to make sense to them. It is your dream, not theirs.

If you have to foregone your pleasure, looks and even what you eat for a dream that you have, please do. Yes it will not be easy but eventually, it will be worth it.

It will not make sense to many, but it doesn't have to make sense to anyone as long as it makes sense to you. Nobody gets a clear picture of what you are doing until results start showing up.

There are some roads that you have to take alone and this is one of them.

It does not matter if it make sense to anybody, as long as it makes sense to you. .

Na'Allah Congratulates Emir Ibrahim Sulu Gambari as the 5th Chancellor of BUK

As Bayero University Kano prepares to install the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari as its 5th Chancellor on Saturday 2nd March 2024, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah, has congratulated him, describing the appointment as well deserved.

Na'Allah, in a press release issued by the acting director, Information and University Relations of the University, Dr Habib Yakoob, stated that he was confident that the Emir's appointment by the University was a testament to his exceptional leadership quality.

He said, "On behalf of the entire University of Abuja Community, I wish to congratulate you on your appointment as the 5th Chancellor of Bayero University Kano (BUK) and your forthcoming investiture on Saturday 2nd March, 2024.

"This appointment and investiture are no doubt, a testament to your exceptional leadership quality, unwavering dedication to education and esteemed contributions to the academic community."

According to Na'Allah, the Emir's distinguished services and commitment to the advancement of knowledge, proven track record of leadership abilities and capabilities had "undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping the educational landscape of your immediate community, in particular, and the nation, at large."

The Vice-Chancellor noted that Gambari 's appointment to this esteemed position, not only reflected his personal accomplishments but also served as an inspiration to aspiring academics and leaders across the country.

"As the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, I am confident that your tenure at Bayero University Kano will be marked by continued excellence, innovation and steadfast commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence and research, which we have seen you consistently demonstrate when carrying out related responsibilities," said Na'Allah, who hails from Ilorin and has served as Vice Chancellor for almost 15 years running.

Since his installation as the 11th Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari had served as the Chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State and the University of Agriculture Makurdi, Benue State before his recent redeployment to BUK.

He said he looked forward to witnessing the positive impact of the Emir's leadership on the academic community and beyond.

The Students' Representative Assembly (SRA) has today, the 16th Day of January, 2024, in their 6th Plenary Sitting, after a much deliberation suspend the following Executive Officers of the Executive Council of the Students' Union Government of Bayero University Kano (SUG-BUK) for the period of two consecutive days with immediate effect:

1. The President,
2. The Vice President,
3. The Secretary General,
4. The Social Director, and,
5. The Financial Secretary.

The suspension was due to non compliance with the provisions of section 11 [(1) (c and r)] of the Students Union Constitution Bayero University, Kano 2021 for the President, for unconstitutional acts and grave violation of the Students Union Constitution Bayero University, Kano 2021 for the the Vice President, the Secretary General, the Social Director and the Financial Secretary.

Consequently, all the addressed officers, shall within three (3) hours from the release of this notification, return all the Union properties including their office keys to the Speaker of the 24th S.R.A, and shall not parade themselves as the Executive Officers of the Union, and shall not function as the Executive Officers of the Union.

In addition, pursuant to the provisions of section 12 (2) of the Students Union Constitution Bayero University, Kano 2021, the Speaker of the Students'Representative Assembly has, from now, taken over the administration as the Chief Executive of the Union.
