Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano Established A Medical Reserach Center

The Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano has established a Human Papillomavirus DNA Research Laboratory aimed at assisting women from Kano and neighbouring States with early detection of Cervical Cancer.

While commissioning the centre, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa said the research center was established with the support of the Tertiary Eductation Trust Fund (TETFund).

The Vice Chancellor revealed that the center which is also first of its kind will assist in research and treatment of women with cancer dieseases from Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States in the short run, and subsequently across the entire Northern part of the Country.

The Vice Chancellor further added that TETFUND has provided funds for acquiring State- of-the- Arts facilities at the center to ensure effective service delivery. He then called on researchers, lectures and other stakeholders to take advantage of the center to conduct scientific researches to achieve the desired goals.
Speaking while conducting the VC round, the Dean Faculty of Clinical Sciences Dr. Iman Usman said the center was established to provide free services to women with cancer problems. It was estimated that 1500 patients are expected to benefit during the first phase of the program introduced by the research center.

She thanked the Vice Chancellor and TETFUND for their support and cooperation towards the realization of the projects which she described as a welcome development.

Moreover, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, thanked the Kano State Government under the leadership of Gov. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, *OFR* for the completion of a large portion of the Faculty of Science building at the main campus of the University.

My Nation!

My dear country
The root of my liberty
Embroided in it's spirituality
different categories of humanity
But with existence of deprivations of people's rights.

the Masses life at risk
poor education at its peak
School infrastructures vandalised
teachers became incapacitated
In the field of knowledge
Just because of privileged ahead of the unprivileged ones.

Oh My Nation!
Medical facilities are inadequate,
Patients have been treated inappropriately,
doctors attend to patients occasionally,
but received salary timely,
The government medical check up is abroad,
While the poor suffer deadly diseases at home,
Corona virus killed many
Malaria killed much many
Laser fever is a great challenge,
All these affected the masses negatively.

My society,
Was very sound responsible,
Due to economic hardship,
It's beginning to suffer selfish and brainwash
Kidnapping, theft and banditry are references.
Our Politicians should be generous,
But are office loafers
With kleptomaniac fingers,

Oh Youth!
You're the backbone of the society,
You deserved to be voted and to be elected,
Into any meaningful polity.

Oh youth!
You should be fast thinking,
be smart in thinking,
be imaginative and hardworking,
be Engineers of the nation,
you're the hope of the nation,
Don't be used as political thugs, poverty ambassadors,
eection ballot snatchers
And all illicit acts.

Oh my God!
When will my nation positively changed,
my fellow youths took over the leadership,
the poor liberated,
the political system tranformed,
the economy revived,
the missing glory reincarnated.

I wished my nation,
a total transformation, worthy of emulation,

Gov Ganduje Inaugurates Governing Councils For Kano Universities, KUST, YUMSUK

- Retains Dangote Chancellor KUST

After the expiration of the tenure of the Governing Councils of Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil (KUST) and that of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK), governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje inaugurated fresh Councils for the two institutions.

At the inauguration, which took place during State Executive Council Meeting, held at Africa House, Government House, Kano, Wednesday, he reveals that, "You are being appointed based on your proven track records."

"Your appointment is based on merit, capacity, capability, experience and your education. We are sure that you will provide enabling environment for the academic pursuit in these institutions of higher learning," he explained.

Adding that, he was sure that those appointed would provide enabling environment for academic excellence and peaceful atmosphere in those universities.

"All the universities are known for their peaceful atmosphere. Of which you will do more to maintain that in our citadel of learning," he wished.

For Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, (KUST), has Alhaji Aliko Dangote who is retained as Chancellor and Professor Zubairu Iliyasu as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council.

Members of the Council are Prof. Hamman Mahmoud, Prof. Garba Kawu, Dr Clement Igbaji, Alhaji Abubakar Jatau, A'isha Jafaru and Yahanasu Buba.

While Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, (YUMSUK) has His Eminence Eze Dr Eberechi N. Dick (JP), Eze Udo I of Mgboko Ngwa Amaise Aut. Community, Patron Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, as the Chancellor and Professor J.D. Amin former Vice Chancellor University of Maiduguri and Federal University, Dutse, as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council.

Other members of the Council for YUMSUK are, Prof Muhammad Yakasai, Dr Rabi Jibrilla, Tajuddeen Dantata, Umar Abdullahi Karaye and Dr Binta Jibir Wudil.

All the Chairmen of the two Councils, who spoke on behalf of their members, thanked the governor for the confidence he reposed in them for the new assignment.

They all assured that, they would work tirelessly to prove their mettle. And to also take the two universities to greater heights in terms of academic excellence, productivity and moral standard.

MESSAGE TO THE NEWLY MATRICULATED STUDENTS

Today, been 02-11-2021, The Executives of the aforementioned association under the leadership of its President Comrade Mukhtar Bala Dala aka MB Dala want to use this medium to congratulate all our newly matriculated students whom were sworn in today as they embarked their new academic journeys of Bachelor Degrees. Indeed it's a golden given to you by Allah to accomplish your goals.

While congratulating you for your successful matriculation, I will also like to caution you on the rules and regulations of the university, the is the ethics guiding the activities of students of the university . Thus, some of the rules are as follows;
1- Abstaining from examination malpractice,
2- Refraining from cultism and it's dangerous likes,
3- Engaging in moral and descent dressing approved by the school,
4- Attending lectures regularly and punctually
5- Refraining from any riot and protest that may caused instability within and outside campuses.
6- Reporting any misunderstanding to the appropriate body not taking law or decision on your own thereby endangering your academic career.

As we all know, our father and amiable Vice Chancellor, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa is always after student's welfarism and comfortability, try to work and study hard to become his pride and companions whereby he promised to provide all the necessary requirements needed by the students. Fortunately, he is a father to the fatherless. He is the architect of YUMSUK AND YUMSUKITES transformation right from his inception into the office seeking for intervention from all angles of the country purposely for the welfare of students.

A secured environment is always said to be peaceful environment and cannot be achieved in chaotic situation. Therefore at this juncture, I will like to recommend and recognise the tireless effort of our Seurity Directorate under the stewardship and leadership of Intelligent Bala Lawan Kofar Na'isa who's effort is aimed at securing the lives of thousands of students studying in our dearest university and Alma mater.
