MISTAKES I MADE WHILE PREPARING FOR MY FIRST UTME

Today , I met with my younger brother that's preparing for UTME . I tried to advice him from my mistakes .

I'm sharing this here because I feel someone out there might be making the same mistake I made .

While preparing for UTME try as hard as possible to get the jamb syllabus printed .

Have a copy of the syllabus if not you will keep going in circles

You won't know which topic is which and the details you should know about each topic.

The jamb syllabus is crucial to your dream of acing UTME.

Secondly, have a stable reading Scheldue.

Make plans according to the number of days , weeks or months you have left .

Don't just keep counting the days make plans towards those days .

Thirdly,. Don't completely focus on any subject just because you think you are weak at it !

No!! , That can turn out to be a very bad plan.

Focus on all your subjects get a reading Scheldue that gives you the maximum time you need for each subject.

Solve as much past questions as possible.
Not yearly but by topic .

Most students make the mistake of doing past questions yearly.

That doesn't help it only weigh you down especially if you have not read some of the topics in that year .

Get enough rest as much as possible 🥹

Your state of stomach matter just as much as your state of mind .

Be stress free !!!

Lastly, stick to O levels not A levels !

Don't make the mistake of going overboard just to prove you are a boss .

Stick to the simple o level .

In the last couple of years secondary school students have emerged the highest jamb scorers because they stick to the books that they know will work for them

I watched as everyone prepared for UTME yet I just did not have the courage to start .

I told myself anytime that I wake up how many days I have till the exam come knocking.

Yet, the courage and energy to pick up my books just wasn't there .

That feeling of knowing you have to start reading but you are not reading is a really bad feeling.

You see time running against you every day but you are left with nothing than to look as it moves .

I hoped a miracle to finish the whole syllabus without reading will happen it didn't 😂😂😂

No miracle is coming 🥲 pick up your books today whether you feel like it or not

If you successfully finish a topic the energy to read the next will come !!

Laziness ,

An habits that have no advantage whatsoever.

Funny enough 90% of people fall into it tactics .

The first thing laziness will make you do is to procrastinate.

Once you are done procrastinating you have fallen to its tactic

Why not just decide to do the work and do it immediately.

Why give a round figure time to it .

A lot of students are of the believe they have to start reading by a round figure time like 4 pm and not start 3:33 pm

What's the difference 😂😂??

Just get the work done ! The round figure time has no effect on your productivity

Only your mind does !

Below are the ways to curb laziness while reading

The AFCON final showed me that only loosers complain .
If Nigeria won the AFCON final we would have forgotten that the referee was bias .

The same way if you fail UTME you will remember that your network or your computer had issues

But If despite the issue you were able to amass a score that you love .

You won't even remember that the CBT was noisy, dirty or not even convenient

Only loosers give excuses !!!

If you fail to prepare for your UTME you have prepared to fail!

It can get bulky and scary when a life changing examination is so near .

Yes , we are reading but we suddenly feel like maybe we are not reading enough.

I'm writing this piece with the assumption that I have just 84 days to the examination and I want to start reading today .

The first thing I will do is to write out all the topics I find difficult.
You really need to try the priority method if not you will just keep going round the circle and you will waste the next 84 days .

Before I can start reading for an examination I must have definitely done my research on all the textbooks and get the best one to use .

The second thing I will do is , I will get past questions

I will go through ten years past questions for each subject and write out the most repeated topics in the last ten to fifteen years .

Then I will now prioritize them based on how much difficulty I have in understanding those topics .

With this , you will have enough time to go over all difficult topics and still have enough time to come back to the simple ones .

In the process of reading all this topics I will make sure I solve at least 100 questions on each of those topics .

I will go for at least 50 statement questions and 50 calculation questions.

With this you are definitely beating UTME hands down .

I learnt this formula two weeks to my post UTME and i scored 78 .
