AN OPEN LETTER TO
Hon. Michael Mfater Kaha Awambe A Tiv
(SSA on Entertainment and Cultural Affairs)
Office of the Governor of Benue State
Government House
Makurdi, Benue State
25/10/2023
Dear Hon. Michael Mfater Kaha,
I hope this letter finds you in excellent health and high spirits as you embark on your new role as the Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment and Cultural Affairs to the Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia. It is with great anticipation and enthusiasm that I write to congratulate you on your recent appointment, which undoubtedly signifies a renewed focus on the rich cultural heritage and creative industries of our beloved Benue State.
As a dedicated and passionate advocate for the advancement of Benue's cultural and entertainment sectors, your appointment is not only well-deserved but also a tremendous opportunity to usher in positive change. I am writing to share some ideas and suggestions that, if implemented, could make a profound impact on the promotion and empowerment of Benue entertainers and the revival of the Benue Carnival, which holds immense potential for our state.
Revival of the Benue Carnival:
The Benue Carnival was once a vibrant and celebrated cultural event that brought people from various walks of life together to appreciate our rich heritage. I would like to strongly recommend the revival of this cherished tradition. It can serve as a platform to showcase Benue's cultural diversity, arts, music, and cuisine. The carnival will not only boost tourism but also provide a stage for our talented artists and performers to shine.
Infrastructure and Facilities:
The entertainment industry thrives when artists have access to modern facilities and infrastructure. It's essential to invest in state-of-the-art performance venues, recording studios, and rehearsal spaces to support local talent.
Capacity Building and Training:
Offer training and workshops for emerging artists and cultural enthusiasts. This could include masterclasses, mentorship programs, and opportunities to learn from experienced professionals in the field.
Promotion of Local Talent:
Create a dedicated platform or program to spotlight local artists, musicians, and cultural events. Encourage radio and TV stations to play more Benue music and provide airtime for local content.
Cultural Exchange Programs:
Foster partnerships with other states and countries to promote cultural exchange programs. This could lead to collaborations between Benue artists and those from other regions, broadening their horizons and creative abilities.
Inclusivity and Transparency:
To ensure the success of these initiatives, it's essential to carry all stakeholders along. Engage with entertainers, cultural associations, and community leaders to understand their needs and aspirations. Transparency in resource allocation and project implementation is key.
Tourism and Cultural Heritage Preservation:
Develop initiatives to promote our rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. This can include historical tours, eco-tourism projects, and cultural preservation efforts.
Your appointment presents a golden opportunity to lead the charge in rejuvenating our state's entertainment and cultural sectors. By implementing these ideas and strategies, we can not only promote and empower our talented Benue entertainers but also rekindle the pride and enthusiasm of our people for their heritage.
I have no doubt that, with your dedication and vision, Benue State will experience a cultural and entertainment renaissance that will be celebrated far beyond our borders. I wish you every success in your new role, and I look forward to witnessing the positive changes that will unfold under your leadership.
Thank you for your commitment to the betterment of our great state. Benue State is poised for a brighter and more vibrant future under your stewardship.
Yours sincerely,
Steven Iorlaha Na Jambox
Folk Singer Turned Public Servant (PART 1)
A true reflection of the popular saying " A PATIENT DOG EATS THE FATEST BONE"
By Steven Iorlaha (18/10/2023)
Hon. Michael Mfater Kaha, mostly known as "EL-STUFFY, Awambe A Tiv" has been appointed as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Entertainment and Cultural Affairs to the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Alia.
Awambe A Tiv, a prolific folk singer since 2011, has been a beloved figure among Tiv political singers. He is also the first Tiv graduate to become a folk singer.
After years of using his music to reflect the realities and aspirations of the Tiv people and serving notable political figures like Senator George Akume, Hon. Dickson Tarkighir and several others, Awambe A Tiv's appointment as SSA is a well-deserved recognition that is long overdue.
His journey from a folk singer to a public servant represents a unique blend of culture, tradition, and modernity. Awambe A Tiv's role promises to further enrich the cultural landscape of Benue State and boost the morale of other youth who are also in the league of patience, loyalty, and consistency.
Congratulations to Hon. Michael Mfater Kaha Awambe A Tiv on this exciting new chapter! 🎶🌟
