The Light Givers Foundation Gives Scholarship to 10 Indigent Students of Abott Girls Secondary School, Ihiala, Anambra State up to university level
The event, which took place at the school premises on 9th of June, 2023, involved an examination conducted for selected indigent students of the school from where the best ten candidates in the examination emerged the beneficiaries of the gesture, which is worth tens of millions of naira.
It all began as a promise made in April to the school by the founder and financier of The Light Givers Foundation, High Chief Stanley Obodoagwu, Ezeudo Gburugburu. As part of a series of events to mark the obsequies of his father, Late Eugene Obodoagwu, the Ihiala, Anambra State-born business tycoon promised a scholarship from secondary school to university level for ten indigent students of the school.
The promise was fulfilled in full as officials of the school, representatives from the Anambra State Ministry of Education and some political leaders in the community witnessed a transparent process through which the beneficiaries were selected.
In her speech before the examination which involved 45 students, the Secretary of The Light Givers Foundation, Dr. Onyinye Okeke, told the students that they were not selected because they were the brightest but for the fact that they are the ones the organization believe that the gesture will impact most on their lives, urging them to take the opportunity on offer.
In his speech, Hon. Afam Ononkwo, Councilor representing Ogburu Ward 5 in Ihiala Local Government Council thanked High Chief Obodoagwu and The Light Givers Foundation for consistently coming to the aid of the less privileged.
At the end of the exercise, two students were selected each through JSS1 to SS1, one student was selected from SS2 and one student was selected from SS3, bringing the total number of students to ten.
Present at the event was Dr. Chukwuka Uzo Eto, member representing Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Nnewi Zone in Awka, Mrs. Umennadi Eziamaka, the Zonal Director of Education, Nnewi Zone and the school principal Dr. (Mrs.) Sabina Chukwunedum.
The Chairman of Eagles Crime Awareness and Prevention Initiative (ECAPI) 2023 National Security Summit and Chairman Light Givers Humanitarian Foundation, High Chief Stanley Chukwudi Obodoagwu, has urged Security Agencies in Nigeria to adopt community policing and prioritize intelligence gathering in response to the country's numerous security challenges.
During his keynote speech at the Eagle Crime Awareness and Prevention Conference held in Ikeja, Lagos, High Chief Obodoagwu emphasized the significance of community policing and crime prevention for safeguarding lives and properties in Nigeria. The conference, themed "Intelligence Gathering and Community Policing as a Panacea For Solving Insecurity Challenges In Nigeria," underscored the importance of these approaches.
High Chief Obodoagwu emphasized that community policing is indispensable for Nigeria, as it revolves around fostering relationships with community members and sharing policing powers and responsibilities between the police and local neighborhoods.
He further asserted that intelligence gathering and community policing are crucial in tackling the prevailing high crime rates and diverse security challenges in Nigeria. He emphasized the extensive negative impact of insecurity on economic activities and overall societal development, urging security agents to employ every available means to contain the growing insecurity.
The event, attended by members of ECAPI and other distinguished dignitaries, provided a platform for meaningful discussions on intelligence gathering and community policing.

The scholarship program aims to support ten indigent students in their pursuit of higher education, a promise made by High Chief Obodoagwu during his father's burial ceremony in April earlier this year.

Philanthropy Prevails Amidst Tears, Oo a day that was supposed to be solemn and reflective, the burial of High Chief Stanley Chukwudi Obodoagwu's father; Late. Mr. Eugene Chukwueloka Obodoagwu, fondly nicknamed UWAMGBEDE turned into a moment of celebration of philanthropy and generosity.
During the burial of his father in April, High Chief Stanley Chukwudi Obodoagwu demonstrated his commitment to the general well-being of the indigent members of his community and beyond, showing love amidst a period of grief by donating a Three Bedroom bungalow to Mrs. Georgina Fidelia.

High Chief Stanley Chukwudi Ogboagwu, businessman-cum-philanthropist was on Monday, November 1, 2021, awarded the Medal of Merit, the second highest Award of Africa Medal of Honours, for the sterling job he is doing in ploughing back to the society.
Ogbodoagu was recognised for his continual demonstration of outstanding commitment to the Africans through direct financial support, development of charitable programs, volunteering and leadership in philanthropy.
Medal of Merit honouree is bestowed on an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary service, philanthropy, or advocacy to promote humanitarian causes, improve lives, and alleviate suffering
The annual awards are organised by TIME AFRICA MAGAZINE to promote Corporate Social Responsibility and best practices in the public and private sectors, simultaneously seeking to encourage sustainable businesses and economic growth of Africa.
The colourful ceremony held at Nigeria National Merit Award House Abuja -Nigeria was attended by Africann businessmen, philanthropists and political cream la creme.
Ogboagwu told journalists that he was elated to be recognised for the work he is doing.
"I am happy that the good work that I am doing has been noticed and rewarded.
"I hope this award will motivate me to do more work for the community," he said.
A true entrepreneurial pioneer, Ogbodoagu has established himself as one of the major drivers behind poverty alleviation in Africa.
All the while, through his NGO, The Light Givers Foundation, Obodoagwu has made invaluable contributions through a number of philanthropic efforts.

220 WOMEN Of IHIALA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA Of ANAMBRA STATE NIGERIA HAVE BEEN FULLY EMPOWERED BY THE LIGHT GIVERS FOUNDATION TO GO INTO LARGE SCALE OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION.
The Grand finale of Woman Empowerment Initiative Programme on Agriculture organized by THE LIGHT GIVERS HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION took place at St. Martin's Catholic Church Ihiala, Ihiala LGA Anambra State Nigeria on 3rd July, 2021.
It was a moment of uncontrollable joy as they BENEFICIARIES could not hold their emotions after being empowered with the following agricultural seeds, farming tools and a total sum of Two Million Naira ( #2,000,000) that will enable them go into large scale of agricultural Production after three (3) Months training which include:
* Fertilisers
* Cassava Stems of high breeds
* DD Force Pesticides
* Hand Sprayers
* Farm Cutlass/Matchetes
* Cabbage seeds
* Cucumber seeds Tokyo F1/ Murano
* Tomatoe seeds
* Green pepper seeds and
* Maize
The Founder / Chairman of THE LIGHT GIVERS HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION High Chief Stanley Chukwudi Obodoagwu urges all the BENEFICIARIES to judiciously make use of what is given to them for the purpose of which it was given. This will help them to be more proactive, provide adequate food security, start up their own farms, become self employed and also impact other people's lives positively.
The 220 women were fully trained on the following areas;
1) Nursery Preparation and farm management
2) Application of Fertiliser and how best to manage your farm.
3) Pest control
4) How best to plant Cucumber
5) Tomatoes plantation
6) Cassava plantation
7) Yam cultivation / Land preparation
8) Pepper plantation
9) Vegetable ( Pumpkin) plantation
10) Cabbage plantation
11) Maize plantation
According to Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations, in 2003 who said; "When women are fully involved, the benefits can be seen immediately; families are healthier, and better fed, their income, savings, and reinvestments go up. What is true of families is also true of communities and Nation at large. " That is to say in summary, the multiplier effects of empowering woman like this is a step in the right direction.

THE LIGHT GIVERS HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION has concluded the three Months training of women empowerment programme in Agriculture. This took place at St. Martin's Catholic Church Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State Nigeria on 26th June, 2021.
It was an atmosphere of joy as the BENEFICIARIES celebrated the outstanding and quality training organised by THE LIGHT GIVERS FOUNDATION. The women were trained fully on the following:
* Nursery Production and farm management.
* Application of Fertiliser and how best to manage farm lands.
* Pest control
* Cucumber plantation.
* Tomatoes plantation.
* Cassava plantation
* Yam cultivation / Land preparation

The BENEFICIARIES were highly ecstatic as they have one week left to conclude the training programme. Thereafter, they will be empowered by THE LIGHT GIVERS FOUNDATION with different agricultural seeds, farming tools, pesticides and fertilisers on the 26th of June, 2021 at St. Martin's Catholic Church Ihiala LGA Anambra State, Nigeria.
The 11th week of Women empowerment initiative programme in agriculture took another dimension that really touched the areas BENEFICIARIES have interest in, on the CABBAGE/PLANT SUPPLEMENTS. The training was full of interactions as BENEFICIARIES were able to identify the secrets of health benefits, side effects, uses, doses and the precautions involved.
Week Twelve (12) comes up on 19th June, 2021 with a total revision of all that have been taught throughout the empowerment programme.
However, the programme will come to an end on 26th June, 2021. All the women who participated diligently will be fully empowered by THE LIGHT GIVERS HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION.

THE LIGHT GIVERS HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION is gradually rounding up her initiative program in agriculture as the biggest event comes up on 26th June, 2021 at St. Martin's Catholic Church Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area Anambra State, Nigeria.
All the BENEFICIARIES will be fully empowered with different agricultural seeds, pesticides, fertilizers and farming tools.
The 10th week of The Women Empowerment programme that was just concluded marked a great success as the beneficiaries' joy and enthusiasm cannot be over emphasized. The topic reflected their daily participation of domestic gastronomy which has to do with " VEGETABLES / Health Benefits as regards to the Role of Vegetables in Human Nutrition and Disease Prevention.
The training gave an in-depth knowledge why everyone should eat more fruits and vegetables. This will make us stronger, healthier and free from life threatening diseases like cancer, diabetes, Hypertension, to mention but a few. Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, phytochemical compounds, and dietary fiber.
Week Eleven (11) comes up on 12th June, 2021 with another interesting topic.
However, the programme will come to an end on 26th June, 2021. All the women who participated diligently will be fully empowered by THE LIGHT GIVERS HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION.
