BRIEF HISTORY OF AWORI PEOPLE

The Awori people are an ethnic group in Nigeria, primarily concentrated in the southwestern part of the country. They are part of the larger Yoruba ethnic group and have a rich history that is closely tied to the broader Yoruba cultural and historical narrative. Here is an overview of the history of the Awori people:

Origins and Migration: The Awori people trace their origin to Ile-Ife, which is considered the ancestral home of the Yoruba people. The area was once a forested area believed to have been a sacred site dedicated to the worship of Eshu Elegba or Legba, a deity deeply rooted in the Yoruba religion. Eshu Elegba/Legba is revered as the deity of the crossroads, a messenger between the human and divine realms, possessing the power to open or close doors to opportunities and possibilities.

The name "Ojuelegba" itself is derived from the Yoruba language, where "Oju" means "face" and "Elegba" refers to the Yoruba deity Eshu Elegba. This nomenclature signifies the area's significance as a junction or crossroads, both physically and spiritually.

Before its urbanization and development into the bustling neighborhood it is today, Ojuelegba held spiritual importance as a place where rituals and ceremonies dedicated to Eshu Elegba/Legba took place. The presence of this deity's shrine or worship site marked the area as a sacred space.

I A Short Visit To One Of The Biggest Markets In Lagos Nigeria

Tejuosho Market is a cutting-edge market located in Yaba, Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria, along the Ojuelegba Itire Road.

Due to the prominence of its main market, which is situated between Yaba and Ojuelegba, Tejuosho has grown over time. In fact, a shopping trip to Lagos that doesn't include a stop at Tejuosho would be considered insufficient. An established market where goods are discounted is the Tejuosho market.

Tejuosho is therefore entirely a commercial area. The apparel, weaving, sports equipment, and beauty supply vendors can be found in Tejuosho's market, which thrives on the daily influx of customers and sellers. The area is constantly bustling and there seem to be a lot of people about to be departing or arriving from somewhere.

The market, which is split into two phases (Phase I and Phase II), has 1,251 K-clamps units and 2,383 lock-up and businesses spread out over a large four-story structure.

There are banking areas, 14 food court spaces, eight elevators, two escalators connecting the four stories, 600 parking spots, essential amenities such a reliable water and electricity supply, a fire station that is equipped, two rams to help the physically disabled, and a nursery.
