This fool thinks UK is Nigeria where you can just wake up without due consultations and due process then go ahead to make st announcements just because you are angry.
When someone is exposed to a dysfunctional chaotic government for too long, you start to think every other country in the world is run by letics as well. Imagine the delusional laughable arrogance to think or suggest the uk government will actually be taking policy decisions from an overgrown social media irritant and clout-chasing instagram nuisance.
“I will make sure they end COS”.
As though COS office is in your house.
Very imess re****ed talk. Another prime example that fo ish people grow old too.
Wake up in the morning.
Set ringlight. Wear cap like a n And just start spewing nq nse.

Go and end the COS nau.

Someone drowned in a river.
He was rescued and taken to a mortuary without a doctor’s assessment- only to be found not to be dead.
Then from there he was taken for “rituals” before a river god.
This is “emergency response” offered by strangers to a victim of drowning in our country.
Imagine a drowning dying person being taken from mortuarv to ritualists - when he should be in an ambulance to the emergency room of an equipped hospital.
Tomorrow someone will say it’s better to earn 200k in Nigeria than earn $2,000 in usa. Again, if you always only think about life in terms of money, you are very shortsighted and you can’t see the big picture.
Availability of ambulance: Zero.
Knowledge of basic first aid: Zero.
Awareness of emergency response: Zero.
Everything about the story is saddening.
No emergency response. No urgent ambulance.
No paramedics
No emergency response

UK HOME OFFICE drew attention to the case of 275 certificates of sponsorship granted to a care home that did not exist, and 1,234 certificates granted to a company that stated it had only four employees when given a licence.
“In just these two examples, up to 1,500 people could have arrived in this country and been encouraged by a risk of hardship or destitution to work outside the conditions of their visa,” the report said.

A distressing incident involving a UK nurse has come to light. Following a domestic violence episode where the husband assaulted his wife, the wife reported the incident to the police and also requested the Home Office to revoke his Certificate of Sponsorship (COS). Subsequently, the husband retaliated by reporting his wife to the Medical Council UK, alleging that her International English Language Testing System (IELTS) result was fraudulent. This led to an investigation by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which found her guilty and removed her from the register. Both husband and wife have since returned to Nigeria.

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we celebrate the remarkable achievements, contributions, and resilience of women across the globe. In the medical field, women have been instrumental in shaping healthcare, advancing research, and providing compassionate care to patients worldwide.

As we commemorate this special day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the significant role women play in the Medical Locum Jobs community.
Women have long been at the forefront of medicine, breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes. From pioneering groundbreaking research to excelling in leadership roles, women continue to inspire and lead by example. Within our own community of Medical Locum Jobs we are fortunate to have incredibly talented and dedicated women who make invaluable contributions every day.

Whether you’re a physician, nurse, allied health professional, or administrator, your expertise, compassion, and commitment are shaping the future of healthcare. Your hard work and dedication ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care, regardless of the challenges you may face.
International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the importance of gender equality and the need to empower women in all aspects of life, including the workplace. In the medical locum industry, we must strive to create an inclusive environment where women feel supported, valued, and respected. By promoting diversity and inclusion, we not only strengthen our community but also drive innovation and excellence in healthcare delivery.
As we celebrate the achievements of women today, let’s also acknowledge the work that still lies ahead. We must continue to advocate for equal opportunities, mentorship programs, and policies that support the advancement of women in medicine. Together, we can break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a more equitable and inclusive healthcare system for future generations.

Happy International Women’s Day!
Sincerely,

A 37-year-old Nigerian woman working as a caregiver in the United Kingdom slumped on February 22, and died two days later.
The victim, Chidimma Susan Ezenyili, known as Suzy, collapsed while on duty in the street of Bishop’s Stortford.

Ezenyili who was a lawyer in Nigeria was tendering an elderly woman, Ian Hale in Scott Road, but a report said she was not feeling well herself but managed to work before her collapse on the fateful day.

Ezenyili and her husband, Friday left Nigeria in August 2023, to go and work as caregivers on sponsorship visas to give their toddler daughter Mandy a better life.
The 37-year-old migrated to the UK and had been caring for the 86-year-old Hale for the past five months.
Hale’s daughter, Catherine Segal, said, “She (Ezenyili) was driven there by her husband with their three-year-old daughter as she wasn’t feeling well but didn’t want to let my dad down.”
When Segal recounted the incident, she said the caregiver collapsed on Thursday, February 22, and stopped breathing and did not have a pulse.
“Naturally, her husband started shouting for help. The neighbourhood raced to help. Myself and my husband ran outside along with our next-door neighbour and our neighbour from across the road,” Segal said.
Segal further said, “We had two GoodSAM first responders arrive shortly after to assist. The community first responder along with several ambulances, police and the critical care team arrived to take over attempts to save her life and were successful in getting her on life support in the ambulance.”
The caregiver was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where doctors at the neurosciences critical care unit discovered she had suffered a severe brain haemorrhage.

*SUMMARY OF UGONSA LITIGATION/COURT ACTION AGAINST NMCN AND THE REGISTRAR*
-————————————————————

*UGONSA (University Graduates of Nursing Science Association) dragged the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, NMCN, to court over its recent circular for requesting verification of certificates for nurses and midwives to foreign nursing boards or councils.*

Also joined in the suit as 2nd defendant is the Registrar/Secretary General of NMCN, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar.

UGONSA approached a Federal High Court sitting in Enugu, seeking a judicial interpretation of Faruk’s action.

The suit, with No FHC/E/CS/22/2024, was filed by the counsel to the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs (UGONSA members) are seeking “a declaration that by the widest construction of the Nursing and Midwifery Registration Act ‘CAP N 143 L.F.N 2004) and other relevant extant applicable Laws, the 2nd defendant (NMCN Registrar) have no right whatsoever to issue or sign any circular and (or) directives in the exclusion and negation of the Board of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Board of which was ipso facto dissolved by the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria on 19th June 2023.

UGONSA is seeking “An order compelling the 2nd defendant (NMCN Registrar) to open up and keep opened the portal of 1 defendant (NMCN), rescind and cancel forthwith ALL such DIRECTIVES as contained in the purported circular of Guidelines dated 7th February, 2024 same being unlawful, null, void and of no effect.

UGONSA is also seeking “An order of perpetual injunction restraining the 2nd defendant (The Registrar) from further signing or issuance of any other directives, instructions or circular in contradiction of the general intendments of Nursing and Midwifery Registration Act ‘CAP N 143 L.F.N 2004), Chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and other relevant extant applicable Laws binding the operations of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.”

The nurses are consequently praying the court “to grant a general and aggravated damages of five million Naira (N5,000,000.00) only for strictures and discomfitures.”

Interns of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State, have protested over unpaid three months’ salary by the Federal Government.

The protesters, on Monday, welded placards with different inscriptions while calling attention to their plight.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the interns were not paid salaries in the first three months, so the initial payment was paid in the fourth month which covered only two months.

The government was said not to have paid salaries for the remaining two months.

One of the protesters who identified himself simply as Yinka, told our correspondents that the non-payment was attributed to failed payment by the FG.

He said, “The internship is a one-year programme, so we started our internship in July 2023, and we did documentation immediately. We had to wait until October before we received payment, and to our surprise, it was for September and October alone.

“We have been going there to make inquiry about our outstanding payments, but they told us they are not the ones paying us, and the money is coming directly from the Federal Government.

“The Federal Government said there was a problem with payment because it failed, so they were on it since that time till the new year. All the interns from each department in the hospital are up to 100. Note, it is not only interns that they are owing. They are owing the corps members, and some workers as well.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the medical centre, Ijanusi Gbadebo, said the management was trying to find a solution to the payment issue with the FG, and everyone affected would be paid.

“The management is not owing them up to that. It has been resolved, the issue is with them and IPPIS, it is not the management’s fault. To the best of my knowledge, the issue is not peculiar to FMC Owo, it is a nationwide issue

“My MD and the Head of Finance are currently in Abuja over the issue. Within some days, they will begin to receive alerts. They are on top of it,” he said.

On January 17, three days after he was admitted, LUTH said Mr Adenibuyan needed an Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring machine. But this Teaching Hospital does not have the machine. When needed, it was explained to us, it is rented from outside. Cost: N400,000. The family paid. But the machine was not delivered until January 19th. And when it was delivered, it was left by the corner of Mr Adenibuyan’s bed for days, unused.

Perhaps, it was a coincidence, but the ICP Monitoring Machine was used only on the day Thelma arrived (24th) and began to ask questions. This was 10 days after he was referred to LUTH, and perhaps, 10 days after it should have been used.

Thelma arrived Nigeria at about 9.40am on Delta Airlines, and went from the Airport to LUTH to see her husband. She waited for about three hours before she was allowed to, after she incessantly requested to speak with his medical team. She wanted to know why the ICP had not been put in place as was revealed to her by Lekan, her step son, who was in Nigeria for a short vacation, and her husband’s younger brother, Deji. She wondered why the machine was just lying down there. When one of the doctors finally arrived, he tried to explain. But given Thelma’s background, and where she came from, the explanation made no sense to her. She hinted so in many ways, but was, at once very disciplined and too distraught to argue. But finally, she was told another doctor who would do that was being expected.

The Lagos State Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has commenced a protest, demanding the prompt retraction of the recent verification process introduced by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). The NMCN’s updated guidelines now mandate applicants seeking verification from foreign nursing boards and councils to have two years of post-qualification experience from the date of obtaining the permanent license, among other requirements.
The current fee for verification according to NMCN source we received is N300,000

The exodus of nurses from the Lagos State Health Service Commission and other healthcare facilities in Nigeria is attributed to a combination of factors, notably poor working conditions, poor salary structures, lack of incentives, low morale and lack of modern equipment. Awojide highlighted that over 496 nurses left between 2019 and 2021, with only a small percentage retiring. Additionally, more than 200 nurses departed from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, and over 80 left the Primary Healthcare Board in the same period. Despite efforts to recruit replacements, the government’s policy has been hindered by the challenge of finding suitable candidates, exacerbated by the country’s high unemployment rate. The mass exodus has severely impacted the quality of care, increasing the workload and functional flexibility requirements on nurses without adequate compensation. Addressing these issues should be a priority for the government to retain skilled healthcare professionals and ensure the provision of quality healthcare services.

Reactions on Twitter to the increased verification fee and stricter process by nursing councils among nurses and other healthcare professionals are likely varied. Some may express outrage at the significant fee hike, arguing it places an undue financial burden on nurses. Others may criticize the stricter verification process, believing it adds unnecessary obstacles to professional practice. Additionally, there may be calls for transparency and accountability from nursing councils regarding the rationale behind these changes. Overall, the sentiment is likely one of frustration and concern within the nursing community.

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has expressed worry over the waivers granted to hospitals by the Federal Government for the employment of health workers in a bid to enhance healthcare delivery.
NARD said the Federal Government should give clarity on the recent declaration of the Federal Executive Council on the relief of waiver for recruitment from the Head of Service for prompt follow-up.
The government in January authorised the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to approve recruitment requests by qualifying health institutions.
This decision was taken at the Federal Executive Council, which the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Ali Pate, said would accelerate the hiring of healthcare workers and reduce delays.

Doctors under strain need more support if they are to perform well: Professor Dame Carrie MacEwen’s keynote speech

We are working hard to make sure that all doctors are aware of the changes, and are familiarising themselves in time for the change. Today, we are asking you all to work together to identify how the new professional standards can be best embraced and embedded across the health service.

We are, of course, acutely aware that the system is currently under strain. The pressure is only going to increase as we move into winter. In some ways it is a difficult time to be making a call for cultural change. But in reality, these pressures make this more important. Doctors under strain need more support if they are to perform well. There is no expectation of quick cultural fixes, but there is an urgent need to acknowledge across the board that good culture provides

As you’re aware from our previous letters. Pearson VUE, our computer-based test (CBT) provider, alerted us to unusual data relating to tests taken at Yunnik Technologies Ltd test centre in Ibadan, Nigeria (Yunnik). The data raised questions about whether some or all of the CBT results at Yunnik had been obtained through fraud and called into question the validity of all tests taken at Yunnik.

Following campletion of our initial investigation into this issue we [the [NMC] concluded that there was evidence of widespread fraud at the Yunnilk centre, where we believe a large number of candidates fraudulently obtained their CBT.

Firstly, we asked Pearson VUE to provide us with assurance that the data concerning tests taken at Yunnik is accurate, and not the result of a system error, cyber-attack, or other technical issue. Pearson VUE confirmed that, following a detalled investigation into the testing facility at Yunnik and review of the data, they were satisfied that there was no evidence of system error, cyber-attack, or other technical eror and that the data was indicative of one or more proxy testers operating at the centre.

KENYA—Pearson VUE Test Centre has opened in Nairobi, marking an important milestone for Kenyan nurses.

The centre’s establishment is in response to a long-standing need for a local National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), which would eliminate the need for nurses to travel to India or South Africa.
Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary, was joined by Health Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha S. Wafula and Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni Muriuki to inaugurate Nairobi’s NCLEX-RN Test Center.

Pearson VUE administers the examination, which is required for nurses who want to work in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The opening of this testing site not only brings the exam closer to home, but it also accords with KMTC’s efforts to improve accessibility for Kenyan candidates.
The new center is extremely important for Kenyan nurses since it is predicted to cut examination expenses by more than 50%. KMTC is taking a proactive approach to this project by developing a complete NCLEX Preparatory curriculum.

This step aims to equip nurses with the necessary skills to pass the examination on their first attempt.
The Ministry of Health will collaborate with line ministries and various partners to create additional job opportunities for our nurses in line with the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda (BETA).

This launch not only brings convenience but also opens doors for enhanced professional growth for Kenyan nurses, reflecting a positive stride in the healthcare sector.
Pearson VUE has a global network of test centres and relationships in almost every industry, providing high-stakes tests that enable professionals to certify and license individuals who protect and promote their communities around the world.

It also assists candidates in testing preparation by providing courseware, scenario-based laboratories, mock tests, and other resources.

Pearson VUE has 5,500 test centres in more than 180 countries and territories, with over 19 million examinations administered each year.
