Welcome to the last day of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, Day 31.
We repeat this on the last day of every , because parents and caregivers need to hear it more often.
Having counseled parents of children with cerebral palsy for six years, they leave us with no choice but to repeat this statement again and again because of their response to the condition.
Dear Parent, stop responding to Cerebral Palsy as if it’s a curse, it is not.
They are individuals with CP who have made significant strides despite the challenges of living with CP, and this is because of the way they responded to the condition
Cerebral Palsy is just a part of your child’s life, there’s more to them and what they can achieve.
Focus on what you can control.
Empower your child with all the support he/she needs to thrive and live to the fullest, It’s just Cerebral Palsy you know.
On this day of joy and renewal, let's take a moment to hold each other in thought and pray for peace and happiness for all. May the spirit of Easter fill our hearts with warmth and grace as we celebrate the resurrection. Embrace the hope and renewal this day brings. Happy Easter! 🌷✨ graciously!
See who is seven years old! King Mayomide 🎉🎊🎂🎁🌹 God bless and keep you always in his purpose and good health! Amen. We celebrate this partnership that is working across borders graciously

Welcome to Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, Day 22.
Many Individuals with Cerebral Palsy don’t live with just CP.
They have at least one other condition along with their CP, this is called ‘comorbidity’.
For example, 4 in 10 children with CP also have epilepsy and 1 in 10 children have Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Regardless, these comorbidities can be managed, so
Have you ever met any child with additional conditions along with their CP?
Please share with us in the comment section.
P.S: Finally, our Seventh Annual Symposium is tomorrow!!!!
If you registered, Congratulations! Please look out for a text message from us.
Welcome to Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, Day 20.
Cerebral Palsy occurs as a result of abnormalities in the brain and the reason a child developed Cerebral Palsy is not because it runs in the family.
However, researchers have discovered that hereditary factors can predispose an individual to Cerebral Palsy, but no specific genetic disorder directly causes Cerebral Palsy and there is no scientific evidence that CP is hereditary.
Have you ever heard that CP is hereditary?
Please share your experience with us in the comment section.
Developing good oral habits in children is crucial not only for their dental health but also for their overall well-being. Here are some benefits of instilling good oral habits in children to help them develop a healthy lifestyle:
1. **Prevention of Tooth Decay**: Teaching children to brush their teeth twice a day and floss regularly helps remove plaque, preventing tooth decay and cavities.
2. **Healthy Gums**: Good oral hygiene habits, such as brushing and flossing, help keep gums healthy, reducing the risk of gum disease and inflammation.
3. **Improved Speech Development**: Healthy teeth and gums contribute to proper speech development, allowing children to articulate words more clearly and effectively.
4. **Boosted Confidence**: A bright, healthy smile can boost a child's confidence and self-esteem, helping them feel good about themselves and their appearance.
5. **Nutrition and Digestion**: Healthy teeth are essential for chewing food properly, which aids in digestion and allows children to absorb nutrients more effectively from their meals.
6. **Prevention of Bad Breath**: Practicing good oral hygiene helps prevent bad breath, promoting better social interactions and self-confidence.
7. **Early Detection of Dental Issues**: Teaching children the importance of regular dental check-ups encourages them to prioritize their oral health and allows for early detection and treatment of any dental issues that may arise.
8. **Establishing Lifelong Habits**: Instilling good oral hygiene habits in childhood sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy practices, reducing the risk of dental problems and associated health issues in adulthood.
By emphasizing the importance of proper oral care from a young age, parents and caregivers can help children develop habits that contribute to their overall health and well-being throughout their lives.
Happy Wednesday 😃! Our words matters 🗣️
Gross motor skills development is crucial for children as it lays the foundation for various physical activities and overall health.
1. **Encourage Physical Activity:** Provide ample opportunities for children to engage in activities that promote gross motor skills development, such as running, jumping, climbing, and playing sports.
2. **Outdoor Play:** Outdoor play stimulates gross motor skills development by allowing children to explore different terrains, navigate obstacles, and experience diverse sensory inputs.
3. **Structured Activities:** Enroll children in structured activities like swimming, dance, martial arts, or gymnastics, which not only enhance gross motor skills but also promote discipline and social interaction.
4. **Provide Equipment:** Offer age-appropriate equipment such as balls, tricycles, scooters, and climbing structures to facilitate gross motor skills development through play.
5. **Balance and Coordination Exercises:** Incorporate activities that challenge balance and coordination, such as balancing on one foot, walking on a balance beam, or playing hopscotch.
6. **Encourage Free Play:** Allow children to engage in unstructured free play, which fosters creativity, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence while promoting gross motor development.
Advantages:
- **Physical Health:** Developing gross motor skills promotes overall physical health and fitness, reducing the risk of obesity and related health issues.
- **Cognitive Development:** Gross motor activities stimulate brain development, enhancing cognitive functions such as attention, memory, and problem-solving.
- **Social Skills:** Participating in group activities and sports fosters teamwork, cooperation, and communication skills.
- **Emotional Well-being:** Mastering gross motor skills boosts children's self-esteem and self-confidence, leading to greater emotional resilience and a positive self -image.
Let children PLAY, we are unfolding graciously!!!
Every child is a child!
Welcome to Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, Day 18.
It is sad that many people still believe that physical impairments equal lack of intelligence or that the degree of physical impairment is an indication of intelligence.
Many of our children with Cerebral Palsy have proven this wrong with their stellar academic performance.
Lack of speech, gross or fine motor skills does not equate a lack of intelligence, children with Cerebral Palsy just need to be supported with the necessary accommodations and modifications and allowed to thrive at their own pace.
Please regardless of the severity, because the degree of physical impairment is not an indication of intelligence.
Welcome to Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, Day 17
The damage done to the brain that results in Cerebral Palsy affects the part that is responsible for muscle movement and coordination not cognition.
However, some children may have comorbidities or co-occurring conditions that affect their cognition.
Cerebral Palsy in itself doesn’t affect intellect.
CP can affect the way a child learns, but it doesn’t affect a child’s intellect or ability to learn.
Denying a child access to an Education is wrong, instead you should support the child with the necessary accommodations and modifications he/she needs to learn.
, because CP doesn’t affect the intellect.
Welcome to Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, Day 16.
If you’ve been on this awareness journey with us since Day 1, we mentioned on Day 1 that Cerebral Palsy is caused by damage to the ‘developing brain’ that controls muscle movement.
It is the ‘developing brain’ because the damage that causes Cerebral Palsy can only occur in a child’s brain while it’s still developing and not in a fully formed brain.
90% of the brain is fully developed after age 5.
Hence, it is impossible for an adult to get Cerebral Palsy.
It is a misconception that is usually associated with delay in receiving early diagnosis.
Did you believe it is possible for an adult to develop CP?
Let us know in the comment section.
Join us tomorrow for another interesting fact.
Encouraging a child to manage their behavior involves a combination of strategies that promote self-awareness, self-regulation, and positive reinforcement. Here are some effective approaches:
1. Clear Expectations:Clearly communicate expectations regarding behavior and consequences in a consistent and age-appropriate manner.
2. Positive Reinforcement: Acknowledge and reward desirable behavior with praise, privileges, or small rewards to motivate the child to repeat the behavior.
3. Consistency:Be consistent in enforcing rules and consequences to establish a predictable environment that helps the child understand boundaries.
4. Role Modeling:Demonstrate positive behavior and problem-solving skills as a role model for the child to emulate.
5. Encourage Self-Awareness: Help the child identify and understand their emotions, triggers, and reactions to develop self-awareness and self-control.
6. Teach Problem-Solving Skills: Guide the child in developing effective problem-solving strategies, such as taking deep breaths, counting to ten, or walking away from a situation to calm down.
7. Use of Positive Language: Use positive language to redirect negative behavior and encourage the child to make better choices.
8. Set Goals: Collaborate with the child to set achievable goals for behavior improvement and track progress together.
9. Provide Structure and Routine: Establish a predictable routine and structure in the child's daily activities to promote a sense of security and stability.
10. Empowerment: Involve the child in decision-making and problem-solving processes to foster a sense of empowerment and responsibility for their behavior.
By implementing these strategies consistently and with patience, parents and caregivers can help children develop essential behavior management skills and become more self-disciplined and responsible individuals.
