A man who recently met SAMI having read the personal experience of our communications officer (as shared in Slide 2-5) with HMO reached out asking how he could lend a helping hand. This is how he placed the 3 children living with sickle cell on the state-run health insurance policy.

Our resolve remains to ensure that 'persons living with sickle cell and their families live healthy, positive, and productive lives'

Our Christmas don jollof 🥳🤩😂, thanks to the super duper gift of 200 bags of 10kg rice given to us by .foundation.

Thank you, The Noella Foundation. Our hearts are full of gratitude. The bags of rice were distributed to our beneficiaries at our last Xtracare Free Medical Clinic for the Year 2023 which held at Akerele Primary Health Centre, Akerele, Surulere last Saturday 2nd December 2023.

The final edition of the XTRACARE free medical clinic for the Year 2023 will be held this Saturday 2nd December 2023.

XTRACARE is our lifesaver initiative which provides a bridge between medical professionals/care and persons living with sickle cell AT ZERO COST to the beneficiaries. The feedback over the past 8 years of running this free clinic is excellent.

This clinic is open to only persons living with sickle cell. If you know anyone in that category, kindly find full details on flyer to encourage them to attend.

• Do you have sickle cell disorder( HbSS, HbSC other)?

• Age: Between 5 - 30 years?

• Do you have Any of the following:
1. Recurrent VOCs (3- 5 or more)
2. Stroke
3. Acute chest syndrome
4. Priapism
5. Avascular necrosis of head of femur

• Interested in cure with a bone marrow transplant?

Lagos University Teaching Hospital ( LUTH) and Sickle Cell foundation Nigeria (SCFN) in association with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville USA stem cell transplant programme has set up this chance at cure.

Neither the heavy rains nor the stress of commute on Saturday 16th September could dampen the feeling that our Xtracare Free Medical Clinic brings on the faces of persons living with sickle cell.

This clinic offers routine medications, doctors consultation, medical tests, genetic counseling, psychosocial support et al to its attendees - all at no expense to the sickle cell warriors.
