These two words are often confused.
I will explain them in simple terms to help you understand them.
🌺Borrow means to "take and use something that belongs to somebody else, and return it to them at a later time."
🌺Lend means to "give something to somebody or allow them to use something that belongs to you, which they have to return to you later."
So, you 𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬 something from someone else, while they 𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙙 it to you.
Borrow => take
Lend = > give
Similarly, you 𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙙 to someone while they 𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬 from you.
Examples:
🔹 I don't like to borrow (take) from friends.
🔹 Can I borrow (take) your umbrella?
🔹 She can borrow(take) up to ten books from the library.
🔹I like to lend (give) my friends.
🔹Can you lend(give) me ten books this evening?
🔹He refused to lend(give)us the umbrella.
Here's an analogy to help remember the difference:
Borrowing is like taking something out of your friend's library, and lending is like putting something into your friend's library.

Are you sometimes scared of commenting because you might make a grammar mistake?
Are you sometimes scared of speaking in public because you might make grammar errors?
Are you scared of sharing your ideas or contributions during conversations because you might make grammar errors?
You aren't alone.
I used to be like that years ago.
Most times, I had to delete my posts and read over and over again.
But it all changed when I dedicated myself to learning and mastery.
I attended several grammar courses locally and internationally.
I attended several editing and proofreading courses.
I mastered the rules and made sure to adopt them when listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
And now, I not only have a great grasp of English grammar, I also help people speak and write with better grammar.

"He is risen" vs "he has risen."
Let's settle the debate between "He is risen" and "He has risen" once and for all.
Such a puzzle!
One of the meanings of the word "rise" (from something) is to come to life again.
For example:
To rise from the dead.
(Figurative) Can a new party rise from the ashes of the old one?
Back to the debate:
Jesus has risen. ✅️
Jesus is risen.✅️
"Risen" is the past participle form of the verb "rise" and is used with helping verbs such as "has," "have," or "had."
"He has risen" follows modern grammar rules. It indicates that Jesus has been resurrected.
"He has risen" is correct grammatically.
"He is risen" is an older form, often seen in religious texts and used during Easter to announce that Jesus has risen from the dead. It’s more formal and poetic.
Settled❓️

I just ended a call with a client in the UK, and his last words were: "Bukky, thank you for saving lives."
I appreciate Allah for granting my wish.
In 2022, I attended a course on VI, and I was gifted a coach for a few months.
The first question he asked in our first meeting was, "Why are you doing all you do? Why do you wake up early? Why do you do so much?"
I answered, "To save lives of people." At the time, it wasn't really clear how I could save lives by teaching English.
But now, the goal is clear!
Alhamdulillah, Ya Allah, for using me to save people's careers.
Alhamdulillah, Ya Allah, for using me to save people's marriages.
Alhamdulillah, Ya Allah, for using me to save people's lives.
ALHAMDULILLAH!
Help me appreciate Allah in the comments, Fams.

Being" Vs "Been"
"Being" and "been" are easy to confuse.
Here's a simple explanation👇
Use "being" after the verb "to be" (e.g., am, is, are, was, were).
For example:
The greatest benefit is being in Paris.
He was being an idiot.
Use "been" after the verb "to have" (e.g., has, have, had, having).
For example:
I have been to Paris.
The puma has been seen in the city.

Each of our Business WhatsApp accounts receives about 1,000 leads daily, and sometimes automation can't handle all conversations.
And as for my kind of person, I don't enjoy chatting. All thanks to my virtual assistants.
So I decided to read most of the messages on one of our Business WhatsApp chats this morning.
Though I haven't even read 20%, I have seen different chats ranging from marriage proposals to insensitive s*x*al pictures to beautiful messages from fans and well-wishers.
Here's one such chat👇.
This reminds me that people are watching and keeping records.
In whatever you do, remember, people are watching, so always do what you'll be proud of.
Have a great Thursday!

Olubukola RB Agbalaya,
The Diction Queen.
I've had two one-to-one sessions with clients today: one in Canada virtually and another in Egbeda, Nigeria physically.
Additionally, I visited one of our partnered schools to ensure the term ended well and to make requests for something bigger next term😁.
I'm feeling sleepy and tired right now.
However, I can't rest yet as I have a few things on my must-do list that must be done as the name implies.
Before attending to these must-dos, I need to take a break by lying still on the rug for ten minutes in an air-conditioned room.
Before that, I wanted to give you a brief overview of my day so far.
How's your day going?

On Monday morning, a client reached out to me on phone and his first statement was "Good morning, how was your night?".
Also, earlier this morning while checking my mail box, interestingly, one of the mails read "how was your night, Bukola?"
Arrrgggh❗
What special thing happens at night that you are asking me about❓At night; we fall asleep, we close our eyes and open them when it is morning. That’s really what happens ❗So, why are you asking how a person’s night was.
I have been wondering how we came about this expression because there is no such salutation in the Yoruba language even native English speakers don’t ask that question because it is considered rude, nosy and nasty.
In my opinion, the question "how was your night?" has a sexual undertone and don't feel embarrassed or mad at me when I respond with the statement "I don't know. I slept off as soon as it started." Or "it's none of your business".
Though it can also be a legitimate question to ask someone you’re close to who had, for instance, returned from a long trip the previous night. That justifies wanting to know how their night was. But I would personally prefer you use other expressions in lieu of "how was your night?"
I've got few suggestions. Why not try employing them:
🌲 Did you sleep well ❓
🌲 I believe you slept well❓
I particularly like these options as you can replace the "well" with any other adjective.
So, now that you know that a person's night is not your business, what other expressions do you think is appropriate❓ I like to know.
I love to see you grow 💕.
