I read a statement from the CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, that someone earning 200,000 naira monthly in Nigeria is better than the one earning 2,000$ monthly in the US or UK.

My first question is, how many people have a job that pays them 200,000 naira monthly in Nigeria?

The second question is, apart from eating food in Nigeria, do we consider quality health care, availability of social amenities, quality education, and security as part of life?

The third question is, if Nigeria is so good, why are our politicians sending their families abroad and they spend most of the time abroad with their families?

Someone earning 2,000$ in the US or UK lives in an air-conditioned house, drives a car, sees beautiful environments, and enjoys other things I mentioned in my second question which are far from an average Nigerian.

In Nigeria, where the average cost of fuel per a litre is now 600 naira, 200,000 naira is nothing.

Only a lazy person will be in the US or UK, where there are several job opportunities, and be earning 2,000$ when he or she can work more & earn more.

If you have the dream of living abroad, don't let anybody stop you. Even your friend living abroad may want to stop you, but don't forget that destinies are different.

One of the important documents for visa application is the bank account statement.

This is because you need it to prove that you have funds to finance the trip you want to embark on and that you will not become a liability in the counter you are travelling to.

As an important document, you need to make sure you have a good bank account that will convince the visa officer of your good financial standing in your country.

Each time I ask visa applicants if they have good bank account statements, they reply by asking what makes account statement a good one. Once you reply with that question, it gives an obvious answer that you do not have a good bank account statement.

Someone who has a good bank account statement knows that he has one. It is the same thing as someone who is not ill. They won't be asking you how they will know that they are not sick.

Just like a healthy person is complete, so is a good bank account statement complete. They have everything.

What are those things?
It has a good opening balance.

It has good inflows and outflows.

It has good total credits and debits.

It has a good closing balance.

There are no particular figures that determine what makes any of them good. It is based on an individual's circumstances and the visa you are applying for.

The account statement that is good for a visit visa might not be good for a study permit because the purpose of travel and funds required for the two visas are not the same.

A visa applicant going to another country for the purpose of schooling requires more money than someone who is just visiting the country for a holiday.

You could have saved that money

Visa application has more to it than the theories you see online.

Even the embassy will tell you that it is your responsibility to prove to the visa officer that you are eligible for the visa you are applying for.

They also tell you that, it your responsibility to add any further documents you think will help prove your eligibility for the visa you are applying for.

What that means is, apart from the documents the embassy has mentioned as the required documents, it is your responsibility to add other documents you think can help your application to succeed.

Every individual has their own peculiarity as to the other documents to add to the documents already mentioned by the embassy as the requirements, and this is where the work of a visa consultant comes in.

One thing about these set of people is that, despite having the requirements to get the visa, they are never despirate to get the visa.

How to Fill US Visa Application Form

Your US visa application is where you first tell the visa officer about you before appearing in person for an interview. How you fill it will determine the beginning of success or failure of your visa.

Here are things you must consider when filling your US visa application form:

State a convincible reason why you want to visit the US.

Don't state in your form that you have made particular arrangement for your trip, just state your arrival date in US & how long you intend to stay.

Don't state in your form that you will be staying for long except you have a justifiable reason to stay in the state for long. As an employee, three weeks is enough while as a business owner a month is enough.

If you have been invited, give complete information of who is inviting you such as complete name, employer, telephone number, email address, etc. Don't skip any information, it shows you know who is inviting you well.

Make sure you state your monthly salary if required in the application form.

State the previous places you have worked if required in the application form.

Don't lie about your previous denial if you have been denied before.

If your spouse is in the US, don't lie and state in the form that he/she is not in the US.

State completely where you will be staying in the US.

State the schools you attended if required in the application form. If you did not go to higher institution, state the secondary school you attended. If you have attended higher institution and also have a post graduate degree, skip secondary school and start your educational qualification from your higher institution.

If you have traveled to any country before, make sure you state it in your application form.

If someone will be sponsoring your trip, give complete information of the person in the visa application form and be prepared to tell why the person is sponsoring you during the visa interview.

If you are married, make sure you state it in the form because being married and having your spouse in your home country is a tie to your home country. A tie means something that is considered as what can make you return to your home country.

In your application form, state everything clearly and correctly so as to avoid unnecessary questions from the visa officer during the interview to clarify what you could have attended to in the visa application form.
