Meet our volunteer Germany Federal Volunteer, Yemisi Alani 🤝🏽
Yemisi departed Nigeria 2weeks ago to begin her 13 volunteer service in Germany with . Yemisi will be working at the .gmbh Hainbachtal gGmbH Project in Offenbach am Main
On her first impressions arriving in Germany, yemisi has this to say.
"I only had a single sided story of the Germans being “Strict” before coming here. I was not too concerned about every other thing other than time management – as I need to take out the ‘African-time’ mentality to enable me cope and work efficiently.
As expected, I met with my fears eyeballs-to-eyeballs with the German Transportation system. But with the proper orientation given by my host
organization, I’m not doing badly with catching the trains.
These first few days of work have been super relaxing as I think my colleagueshave made working so easy and are not rushing me in any way at all.
Lastly, the language barrier is there, but I’ve remained open-minded, I am
beginning to speak common and simple sentences and will continue to develop my German language skills in my time here.
Danke schön"
We wish the very best in her new adventures.
