STYLES THAT FIT CERTAIN BODY SHAPE

The other day, while I taught on "how to choose the right style for your clients". Someone asked in the comments section about how she can know the styles that will fit certain shapes and I promised her I'll shed more light on it. Hence, today's topic.

Choosing styles that fit your body type is an essential aspect of fashion that can make or break your overall appearance. We all have unique body shapes and sizes, and it's important to dress in a way that flatters our figure. It can make or break your confidence in a dress you're wearing. Knowing how to choose styles that flatter the body type as a fashion designer makes your clients trust you more because they're sure you'll know what will make them stand out.

This is just a guideline that can help you make the right decision, it's not a stated rule.
Once you are done understanding the body shape of your client. You need focus on highlighting their best features. For example, if she has a small waist, choose styles that will flatter her waistline, such as a belted dress or high-waisted pants. If she has arms that are not big and well toned, you can choose sleeveless or off-the-shoulder styles for your client to show their beautiful arms off, etc. You can read more about these on the internet.

WHAT EVERY SEWING MACHINE USER SHOULD KNOW.


Lack of knowledge on how to handle some sewing machine faults will cost you thousands of naira.



One of such fault is looped/loose stitches.

Looped/loose stitches can be formed either at the upper part or lower part of the fabric.



The correction for both cases is different. So pay attention to the guide below:



📌 If the loose stitches are formed at the lower part of the fabric, it implies that the UPPER TENSION is loose. Therefore, you will tighten the upper tension. Tighten it gradually and test till the stitches are normal.

PS: If you notice that the thread begins to break/cut, it means that the upper tension is too tight. You only have to loosen it a bit.



📌 If the loose stitches are formed at the upper part of the fabric, it means that the LOWER TENSION is loose. The lower tension is often located on the bobbin case (popularly known as shuttle). You will find a tiny screw at the side of the bobbin case. What you need to do is to tighten this screw with a tiny-mouthed screwdriver.


PS: If the bobbin thread begins to break/cut, then you should loose the lower tension a bit.



This guide works for both industrial and domestic straight sewing machines. And remember to stay calm.
