MIDTERM BREAK BEGINS!

With every academic assessment we conclude, our children mark a milestone of sorts in the journey of their educational development.

And after all the hard work put in by our families and teachers, it is important that we stop to catch a breather, make a necessary pause and take a well deserved break.

Time is now to drop our bags and books, to retreat, relax, refresh, recover and reset before we resume again, ready to run the last lap of the term's race.

We extend our deep thanks to our amazing families and staff for their commitment and dedication this term and wish you all a truly restful midterm break!

CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION

Every year, on May 27th, we celebrate children all over the world and acknowledge their sacred value and inestimable worth.

Joy and happiness are the spontaneous expressions of every child that is developing in a natural and healthy manner. And the joy, happiness, laughter and freedom that are so unique to every child reflect the sum of the highest goals that we strive for as one human family.

At Ecole Cherrywood, we make it a tradition to have a Children's Day party, where our children lose themselves in fun and happiness, and that's precisely what we did this year.

We make it our mission to equip all children with all that they need to realise their highest goals. Thereby, we lay the foundation today for a happier future tomorrow.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE BOY CHILD

May 16th is set aside as the International Day of the Boy Child.

This day holds great significance for the world as it is meant to draw due attention to the healthy spiritual, emotional and psychological development of the Boy Child.

This carries immense importance since the boys of today will one day inevitably become the men of the future whose thinking, ideas and actions will shape our world.

They will become the fathers, uncles, guardians, statesmen, leaders, soldiers and every other important male figure that we will look to for guidance, protection, love, support and vision.

The building of our future world begins with the proper all-round building up and nourishing of our boy children, in such a way that prepares and adapts them for the unceasing changes of our times.

Let us fashion today the beauty and light that we seek tomorrow.

Mothers are God's unqualified gifts and blessings to the world.

They are the guardians of God's heavenly Kingdom here on earth, the bridge between heaven and earth itself.

Mothers are the bedrock, the foundation, upon which all true human civilisation and greatness are built, and the same goes for all development and education.

Is it any wonder then, that the education of children from the early years and primary levels comprises mainly mothers? That most schools at the delicately formative nursery and primary levels are established and managed by mothers?

In this and much more, motherhood fulfills its nurturing, guiding and care-giving role in Creation.

We resumed on Wednesday , 24th April, 2024, and we are delighted and grateful to have our children and families back with us!

We have embarked on new learning adventures of discovery and growth, and everyone, pupils and teachers, are simply excited.

We gladly look forward to our upcoming events this third term, and promise, as always, to give our very best towards the academic progress and personal happiness of every child.

ECOLE CHERRYWOOD INTER-HOUSE SPORTS DAY

At the end of the day everyone was a winner! The event was a huge success! There was joy and.fulfilment with the turnout and support...and this was our achievement.

We celebrate our children and parents, and all our staff who gave their all on that day.

For us, however, the greatest achievement and celebration lie in the priceless joy and value of every participation, of every child always showing up, of being there for others, of working as a team, of standing as one.

This is who we are and what we represent: one big family at Ecole Cherrywood. And this is our greatest, our ultimate victory!

ECOLE CHERRYWOOD INTER-HOUSE SPORTS DAY

The variety of games were unique and offered entertainment! It was a panorama of interesting physical activities. We had over thirty events,
presenting a spectacular array of diverse sports that demanded skill, strength and speed, that tested the children's physical and mental abilities, kept parents thoroughly entertained, cheering and on the edge of their seats.

There were sprints, relays, hurdles and other obstacle races, sack race, parents games and competitions ...and so much that was completely novel! In all, it was a grand and memorable occasion.

ECOLE CHERRYWOOD SPORTS DAY

On Saturday, 24th February, 2024, beneath the calm canopy of clear skies, upon the lush carpet of green grass, and in the ambience of perfect pleasant weather, we held our richly colourful, exceedingly eventful and quite exciting inter-house sports games at the Nigerian Air Force Base Port Harcourt .

We bring you the highlights of this wonderful occasion with all the participating houses: Maple House, Oak House, Pine House and Willow House.

SECOND TERM BEGINS!!!

Our children are the greatest gifts to us, and nothing could be more fulfilling than to have them resume with us for second term!

We are excited and exceedingly glad to kick off learning afresh and all the other activities we have lined up for this term.

Second term promises to be a blast and we intend to make it fulfilling and memorable for all our wonderful families.

CHERRYWOOD CHRISTMAS SHOW 2023

The main feature of our Christmas show, among other performances, was the musical play, 'THE SHINIEST STAR'' which combined music, song, dance and drama to enact the historic birth of the child Jesus in Bethlehem and how the Radiant Star led the shepherds and the three wise men to Him in worship amid the opposition of King Herod.

It was a first-rate, classic performance, truly reflective, in its own way, and at its level, to a Broadway show.

The Christmas show wouldn't have been complete without the addition of presentations by staff who gave a solemn rendition of the classic carol 'Silent Night' and thrilled parents and other guests to beautifully choreographed dances as they stepped to the melodies of gospel and cultural music.

CHERRYWOOD CHRISTMAS SHOW 2023

On Saturday, 16th December, 2023, the staff, children, parents and friends of Ecole Cherrywood came together as one big family for our end-of-year Christmas Show.

It was a jubilant celebration of love, music, dance, poetry and drama, woven and united together by the true sense and meaning of Christmas.

Decked out in brilliant Christmas colours and lovely costumes, we enjoyed one delightful presentation after another.

In all, it was a fun, merry, dignified and memorable event, filled with the warmth, magic and beauty that makes every Christmas festival what it should truly and always be.

Every Christmas Festival is a special gift. It is a sacred time that brings along with it a renewal of God’s Eternal Love which gives life and hope and sustains the entire Creation.

May the inexpressible Light and Love of God, and the gift of salvation that it brings, bless you with peace, illumine your path with grace, and fulfill in you the promise of eternal life.

EYFS: TEA PARTY

At Ecole Cherrywood, we train the whole child.

Children, especially during the years of early childhood, learn best and assimilate most naturally, when they experience life-like scenarios that mirror the reality of what is being taught.

This way, all the learning areas - the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language domains - are brought to life.

So when our Tots 2 children had a TEA PARTY, accompanied by role playing and music, it was really all about teaching and emphasizing the letter T and the 'Tee' sound through pretend-play, audiovisual experience and engaging the motor and coordination skills of the learners.

This way, teaching is most impressive and effective because it is play-based and activity-driven.

Let's remember that play is the work of the child.

EYFS: SHOW AND TELL

From the age of two, the development of children enters into a new dynamic phase where they become more expressive in every way.

They begin to identify parts of the physical body, to name animals, the colours and shapes they see, and the objects they use and like. They gradually begin to build up their vocabulary and their oral communication and body language skills.

Using 'Show and Tell' allows children present and talk about an object they like. It thus helps them sharpen their speaking, listening and interactive social skills. It also gives the earliest opportunity for children to face an audience, to boost their self-confidence and self-esteem while fostering friendships among peers and deeper connections with their teachers through sharing a beloved object.

'Show and Tell' actively engages all the learning domains in order to build the whole child through an exciting, happy and healthy social experience.

At Ecole Cherrywood, we just don't teach, but we enable and encourage the unfolding of the complete personality of the child.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

On Thursday, 19th October, 2023, Vitabiotics Pharmaceutical Company, in partnership with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (Rivers State Chapter), held a health and wellness campaign in our school under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Rivers State.

During their brief presentation to the pupils of the upper primary level, they enlightened the children on the importance of living healthy through giving the body the right kind of nutrition, especially from fruits and vegetables.

It was explained that children who regularly enjoyed a balanced diet had less sick days, had higher energy and concentration levels, and ultimately gained an improved academic performance.

In addition, they talked about their Wellness Brand nutritional supplements, such as Wellkids, which help children stay healthy and strong.

At the end of their presentation, they gave each child a Wellness branded water bottle, a Wellness notebook, a Wellness writing kit pack and a Wellkids chewable supplement sachet.

We feel privileged as a school to have been selected to host this health and wellness campaign and completely endorse the fact that healthier children make happier and smarter students for the future.

At Ecole Cherrywood, our teachers are the foundation and pillars that give support, strength and solidity to the educational structure of our school, and we are ever so grateful for their dedication and commitment and the rich value they bring to the development of children.

A country is more than just a landspace defined by geographical boundaries.

A country is a diverse collective of people striving towards a common goal, a goal that is the sum of all their ideals, values and truths.

Today, as we celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the year of our independence as a country, we recall to mind all the values and ideals that define who we truly are, the ideals of love, cheerful joy, togetherness, resilience, determination, hard work, resourcefulness and unquenchable hope for all that is good and better.

These are the values we teach our children and celebrate with them, for they are indeed the true inheritors of our shared values and ideals, the torch bearers of our future, the approaching fulfilment of our dreams, the pure seeds of what we, of what this country, our country Nigeria, will become tomorrow.
