TOPIC: THE NECESSITY OF GOD’S POWER.

SCRIPTURE: How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. ACTS 10:38.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Anyone who carries the presence of God carries power.

We live in a terrible world where there is the abundance of wickedness. To live without the power of God in this world is to end as a victim in the hands of the wicked. In our study today, we shall look at six objectives of God’s power.

Why do we need God’s power?

1. The defeat of enemy resistance.
The Master, Jesus Christ, had remained on the same spot for a long time until the power of God came upon Him, and the enemy resistance was defeated (Acts 10:38).
2. The release of motion.
Our anchor scripture said that He went about (Acts 10:38). Resistance defeated, then motion released.
3. The initiation of action.
Where something is not working, they are made to work when the power of God is available.
4. The enforcement of the goodness of God.
Acts 10:38 says that Jesus went about doing good. When the power of God is in manifestation, the goodness of God is enforced.
5. The Activation of potentials.
The assignment of the power of God is the activation of potential. Jesus carried the healing power that was not obvious until power was released (Acts 10:38).
6. The arrest of enemy wickedness.
Jesus was healing all that were oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38).

Now, what is the major secret of power?

a. The presence of God.
Anyone who carries the presence of God carries power. Jesus did all He did because God was with Him (Acts 10:38).
b. The passion to do the will of God.

Beloved, if you carry His presence and you are passionate about His will, then you are set to see His power.

2. Avoid a lifestyle of sin.

TOPIC: DISCIPLINE – A PATHWAY TO DESTINY FULFILMENT.

SCRIPTURE: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. 1 CORINTHIANS 9:27.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Discipline is the capacity to withstand present pain in order to access future gain.

Sometime ago, I came across the fact that after every meal, I needed to brush my teeth to get rid of debris and avoid bacteria degeneration and decomposition.

From the day I started it, my commitment to it has been as rigid as the sun to such a point that brushing facility had to be in the office and in every single place, including inside hand luggage so that if I have eaten anywhere, I would be able to handle it there.

My wife has been watching to see whether I could sustain it. Immediately I finish eating, I would go and brush. As tiny as this is, I have been so disciplined keeping the schedule; how much more spiritual things; how much more destiny matters?

I heard God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo define discipline as doing what is required to get what is desired. Discipline is the capacity to say “no” to wrong and “yes” to right without apology.

For instance, it is wrong for someone to sleep for twelve hours in one night. Is he practicing to die? You know, death is permanent sleep; so, oversleep is almost like rehearsal for death. Discipline is differentiating between the legitimate and the profitable because not every legitimate thing is profitable. No one would send you to prison for eating too much, but eating too much can send you to an early grave. You are fasting and you saw some sumptuous meal and decided to break your fast. That is where discipline is lacking. Discipline is the capacity to withstand present pain in order to access future gain.

And I prophesy upon you today, the grace to do what is required permanently and consistently is released upon you now in Jesus Name.

REMEMBER THIS: Discipline is the capacity to withstand present pain in order to access future gain.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Discipline yourself to get what you desire.
2. Refuse to follow the crowd in the wrong direction.
3. Examine yourself; which spiritual exercise have you not been doing for a while now? Restart it!

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to be disciplined in every aspect of my life. I shall fulfill my destiny Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE MYSTERY OF THE ANOINTING OIL.

SCRIPTURE: Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. JAMES 5:14-15.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The devil does not fear your face; he fears your light.

Scriptures confirm that the Spirit of God transmits healing power through the Anointing oil. It is a mystery that God instituted from the Bible for the healing and deliverance of people. Mark 6:7-13 confirms that the oil is not a suggestion of man; it is an empowerment by the Master.

I saw the mystery of the anointing oil for the first time when I was a 5th Medical Student. My classmate had peptic ulcer disease. We were in medical school teaching hospital. He had taken the highest level of anti-ulcer drugs. He was on ranitidine and all manner of drugs, but there was no improvement. The next level was for him to go for a surgery called vagotomy to transect the vagus nerve.

One day, I came to the room and this brother, a mature young man was in tears with his hand on the tummy. I said, “The Bible says, if anyone is sick, he should call for the elders of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and he shall be healed. I stand here as an elder representing the elders of the Church, I do not need to look for them. With anger, anointing him with oil, I commanded that devil, ‘get out!’ With the speed of light, the pain took off. He jumped up, shouted, “I am healed! I cannot feel any pain anymore”. From that day till eternity, the ulcer disappeared. Then I realized that what God said concerning the oil is real.

Beloved, do not just carry the anointing oil bottle carelessly. Let a revelation back your action. Revelation determines reality. What you know determines what you show.

Things happen by the revelation with which you operate. The devil does not fear your face; he fears your light. He does not just fear the bottle of anointing oil; he fears the light in the one carrying it; he fears the revelation in the heart of the holder.

REMEMBER THIS: The devil does not fear your face; he fears your light.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Backup your action of anointing yourself with light (revelation).
2. Regularly anoint yourself, family members, house, and office.
3. Make demands on God to break every yoke around your life by the anointing.

PRAYER: Lord, open my eyes to the light that will fuel my results as I use the anointing oil. Let every yoke around my life be destroyed by the Anointing, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: IT WILL LAST.

SCRIPTURE: I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. ECCLESIASTES 3:14.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Do not be afraid for your future; if it is God who did something for you, it will last.

Our anchor scripture makes it clear that the power of God is durable in effect (Ecclesiastes 3:14). This implies that the power of God produces lasting results in the lives of people and on nations. John 8:36 corroborates that when it says, If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. That is, you are irreversibly free; it is an irreversible reaction.

I came to the Lord first in 1979 but rededicated my life to God on the 12th of May 1986. Now, some of my old friends with whom we did one or two things together said to me, “We give you six weeks, you will join us again.”

At that time, I was in a higher institution, and we were about to write a major examination. So, some of them said maybe it was the fear of the examination that made me give my life to Christ. Others said that maybe I saw a girl in the fellowship, and that I was trying to impress her by giving my life to Christ. They said I would join them again after about six weeks. The six weeks have become more than 37 years now. The six weeks is yet to come and can never come because what God does is permanent and durable.

When people see how God moves in our lives, things happening effortlessly, God erecting the Glory Dome in the Lord’s Garden for Himself and people trooping to church en mass, they say, “Such things do not last; let us give them time.” The truth is, God did it by His power, so it has lasted, and it will continue to last.

Beloved, do not be afraid for your future; if it is God who did something for you, it will last. Do not be afraid for your healing or deliverance. If God healed or delivered you, it will last; no devil will bring the affliction or sickness back. Do not be afraid for your marriage, if God ordained it, it will last.

REMEMBER THIS: Do not be afraid for your future; if it is God who did something for you, it will last.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Do not entertain fear concerning what God did despite the threat of the devil.
2. Declare the Word of God and plead the Blood of Jesus over your life, family, properties and future.
3. Continuously maintain the atmosphere of God’s Presence.

TOPIC: DIVINE DIRECTION – A KEY TO PRESERVATION.

SCRIPTURE: Where there is no vision, the people perish… PROVERBS 29:18.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Revelation fuels warfare unto victory.

Scriptures make it clear that there is a direct relationship between revelation, divine direction, and preservation.

Revelation brings direction and direction brings preservation. The more directed you are, the more protected you are.

Divine direction is key to Divine deliverance. Revelation is key to preservation. Our anchor scripture says, “Where there is no vision the people perish.” That is, where there is no revelation or direction, the people perish.

Now, let’s look at one of the ways divine direction activates God’s preservation power. Divine direction or revelation fuels intercession unto preservation. That is, God would reveal things to you that would move you to prayer (1 Timothy 1:18). For example, if the enemy was planning a calamity for you, or your family member; God would show it to you and then move you to the place of prayer so that those things can be neutralised. So, revelation fuels warfare unto victory.

Sometime ago, in one of our Church services, a young man shared a testimony of how he saw himself in a coffin in the dream of the night. He woke up the next day and prayed against it.
Afterwards, he went to a shop to buy something, and the woman who was the owner of the shop told him, “I am not selling to you. Go to another shop and buy”. Eventually, he went to another shop to buy what he needed.

And after a few minutes, a trailer came, crushed the woman’s shop and everyone there. The young man would have been a victim too. Death was coming after him. The death he saw in the coffin at night would have happened, but God used the circumstance of rejection to preserve his life. God revealed it and it was cancelled at the place of prayer.

I declare into your life, every agenda of hell against your life and destiny is exposed and terminated now, in Jesus’ Name.

REMEMBER THIS: Revelation fuels warfare unto victory.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Maintain the lifestyle of praying abundantly in the Spirit to keep your spiritual antenna active.

TOPIC: THE TRAGEDY OF GLORIFYING THE DEVIL.

SCRIPTURE: For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep… ACTS 13:36A.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Ensure that you glorify God in everything you do.

There used to be a man called Elvis Presley, “the king of rock” as he was called. He was said to have been raised in the church.

I once watched his recorded performance of the songs, Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art with his deep baritone voice combined with amazing vocal effects; it was awesome and impactful.
But afterwards, he drifted away from the faith and handed himself to the devil. He started singing songs that glorified the devil. Consequently, he died on drugs. Elvis Presley faded away in shame because he decided to glorify the devil with his potentials.

Similarly, Michael Jackson also sang in the church but after a while, he got into the world. He began to glorify the devil with his potentials, and died miserably.

There are many people today who are glorifying the devil with what was graciously given to them by God. How could a person use the voice that Jehovah gave him for the worship of His Name, to sing immoral songs glorifying the devil? Why would God give you voice, wisdom, graces, etc. and you use them to celebrate His enemy, satan, the devil? How would you stand before God in Judgment?

There are people who have the gifts of making people laugh but they are making unclean jokes. Some of the jokes are full of lies. You do not need to tell lies to make jokes. There are clean and healthy jokes that can make the heart merry and do good like medicine.
Beloved, ensure that you glorify God in everything you do. Never use any divine gift to the glory of the devil. Do not use your gifts and talents for ordinary entertainment without impacting lives positively. Ensure you can defend before God in eternity, how you used your potentials on earth.

REMEMBER THIS: Ensure that you glorify God in everything you do.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Ask for mercy if you have ever used your potentials to glorify or promote the kingdom of darkness.
2. Channel your gifts and potentials towards making positive impact on earth and glorifying the Name of God.
3. Refuse to bow to the pressures of glorifying the devil with your potentials no matter the money, fame or promises involved.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord. The life, resources, and potentials you gave me are all Yours. Use me, and use them all for Your glory, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Paul Yongi Cho of Blessed Memory once recounted his experience while trying to cast out a demon. He said did everything he could, but the devil remained defiant. But all of a sudden, he got a flash of light in his spirit and he told the demon, “You have to go out now because two thousand years ago, my elder brother, Jesus Christ defeated you on my behalf and I stand in His shoes to ask you to get out!”
The devil said, “Hold on, hold on, hold on! I will go but please don’t say this to anyone else’’.
Amazing!

Beloved, it is knowing who you are and whose you are that gives you dominion in life. Search the scriptures and let God reveal you to you.
When Jesus asked His disciple, “Who do men say I am?” Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God” (Matthew 16:15-16).
By that discovery, Jesus said to Peter, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Mathew 16:17-18). That is, “Step into dominion by what you just discovered.”

Beloved, there is something you can see from the Scripture that will make you shift in power, authority, audacity, and boldness. The level of dominion you have exercised so far is a function of your discoveries. Light is reflective. When you carry light, you don’t beg darkness, darkness excuses itself as light arrives.
So, if you are lacking in power or dominion, step up in scriptural and spiritual discoveries.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Locate scriptures that will position you as an authority in the realms you desire, and meditate on them.
2. Surrender your will completely to God so His Will can prevail in your life, and His dominion can be established in you.

TOPIC: MOUNTAIN-MELTING FAITH.

SCRIPTURE: For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. MARK 11:22.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If God can raise the dead, He can heal the living.

During one of our services, a woman testified about her son who had cancer of the jaw. I do not know if they had done chemotherapy or radiotherapy, but the hospital considered doing a bone grafting surgery for him where they would take a bone from the thigh to the jawbone.

The school he was attending had rejected him because of the condition. When they came to church, the boy went through our Foundation and Maturity Classes. After the Maturity Class, he enrolled again for the Maturity Class the second time, and then the third time. He kept charging up his spirit by faith. I was so touched by that faith action.
One day, his mother met me and said, pray for this boy. I prayed for him and laid hands on him physically. Then in the dream of the night, the boy said he saw me praying for him again, and a personality with the same jaw cancer left his body.

In the daytime following that encounter, the cancer burst and dried up. It was later confirmed in the hospital that the cancer was gone, and the surgery was cancelled.

The point is, the boy continued charging himself with the Word of God until his faith was ripe enough for manifestation, and the healing arrived. That was a mountain-melting faith. The cancer was a mountain. The boy charged up his faith until that mountain melted.

Beloved, when you charge up your faith, you take charge of your fate. That is, you are in charge of the outcome. There is no sickness that is not healable. Let no devil deceive you. If God can raise the dead, He can heal the living. You can access all that God has for you by faith. So, build your faith.

Every mountain in your life is uprooted right now in Jesus Name!

REMEMBER THIS: If God can raise the dead, He can heal the living.

1. Build your faith by hearing, reading, and studying the Word of God.
