Between Airpeace and Delborough Lagos - two of a kind!
When I wrote recently about the Delborough Lagos, when I visited and experienced the magnificence of the hotel now touted as ‘the best’ in Lagos, a few persons may have thought I was exaggerating.
Now, the evidence is there for all to see.
It was a perfect ‘coup’.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markel, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the royal visitors from the United Kingdom, not only flew into Nigeria last week on the best and fastest growing airline in Africa today, Air Peace, the couple were also ‘spoilt’ in what is becoming the most prestigious and luxurious hotel on the African continent - the Delborough Lagos.
The evidence is in the attached video.
Airpeace and The Delborough Lagos are two of a kind, taking Nigeria to new levels in the travel and hospitality space, key areas in the repositioning of Africa at the table of Civilizations in a new global economic, social and cultural dispensation.
The taste of the pudding is in the eating!
Visit The Delborough Lagos on Bishop Aboyade Cole St, Victoria Island and see for yourself!

Allen Onyema - caught in the act.He is a gentleman to the core, a humanist, a patriot, a successful businessman and an uncommon philanthropist. It is the midnight hour. Ben Adeyileka and I are alone with him in a Lagos apartment - no stewards, no house helps, no servants. Just the 3 of us in conversation and sharing communion of food ordered from a nearby restaurant. We do everything ourselves - bring out plates and cutleries, serve the food, fetch the drinks, clear the mess after, and even trash the litter. It is fun to behave again like bachelors. At a point, I watch him closely. He cuts an interesting picture. I must capture it for posterity.I pick up my phone and take what must be one of the shortest and rarest pictures of the great man as he dusts, clears and cleans the dining table by himself. I am thinking. How can such a great and wealthy man, be so simple and humble at the same time? Pictures do not lie. Here is Allen Onyema, Chairman of one of Africa’s largest and fasting growing airlines, Air Peace, caught in the act of simplicity and humility.Dr. Olusegun Odegbami MON, OLY, AFNIIA, FNIS.
An interesting piece of History! I am bored and at home this morning. I am nursing pain from my first experience of gout. The past 5 days have been horrible. I am healing. I am going thru some old stuff in my library. I find an interesting document that throws up some nostalgia as well as a little bit of history for Nigerian football followers. I attach the document herein. 38 years ago, two years after I retired from active football as a player, I registered a football club in Ibadan with the intention of setting up Nigeria’s first professional football club. I named it ‘Soccer Ambassadors FC’. The club took off like a rocket. We played two friendly football matches against Leventis United FC and a second club from Ghana (I don’t remember the name of the club now). The matches took place at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan. Members of the team during the matches were some brave, selected retired and about-to-retire colleagues, National and International footballers drawn from several clubs around the country. At my expense, the team was assembled in a hotel in Ibadan for the matches. Members included Emmanuel Okala, Christian Chukwu, Kennedy Darpah, Jide Abiodun, Taiwo Ogunjobi, Kokumo ‘Kekedo’, Sam Abossey, Phillip Boamah, Idowu Otubusen, and others (I can’t even recall them all now). The good news is that 38 years after, the club continues to exist, run by retired players in Ibadan that came after me. Since then, the club has consistently been participating annually in the IFA league and the FA Cup in Oyo State. It has become a vehicle for socialization and welfare of retired players in Ibadan. I salute those that have kept the project alive through the decades till now. By the way, does any one have any pictures of those early days? Pls post to me! Allen and Airpeace! Happy Valentine’s Day to you all. We arrive Accra at 2 O’clock in the morning. We head for the only part of town where we are told we can change some money, find something to eat, and re-set our mental buttons - a certain motor park! Two young ‘street boys’ in the partially isolated street take an interest in our heavily branded van. They study it intensely. Suddenly, one of them, totally unsolicited, goes lyrical, mouthing praises for a Nigerian man, a co-traveller in the globalization of humanity the world! Observe the people in the background of the video.
Henry Nwosu - Touched by an angel! This is an update, a responsibility I owe the world after my announcement of Henry Nwosu's plight some months ago, and the developments thereafter. Permit me a little philosophy. In my humble understanding, the Creator stopped interfering in the affairs of His Universe following the completion of his work at the beginning of time. Thereafter, he gave his creations the free will to creat their own future in accordance to their choices, with consequences in the eternal nature of 'action and reaction'. All humans are Messengers, each with varied 'gifts' to impact their world for good or bad. A few Messengers become special when they choose to positively touch and impact other's lives, soothe their pain, nurse the sick, help the poor, feed the hungry, heal the environment, in short, make the world a better place for all to live. Those that do these things assume the status of an Angel when they do not demand anything in return - not even an acknowledgement of their act. A few months ago, Henry Nwosu, a famous, former Nigerian football hero and legend, an Olympian, OLY, and distinguished Member of the Order of the Niger, MON, was at the gates of death. A man blessed by the elements to be in a position to help him, rose to the challenge, took up the responsibility and brought him to Lagos from Asaba for medical care. Henry Nwosu arrived in Lagos, a walking- dead. Since then, things have taken a new turn with the best health facility and the best medical specialists in the State deployed to handle his delicate heath situation. It's been a few months. Not for one day has this benefactor sought a single publicity (infact he has avoided it like a plague) or even gratitude for his actions. He insisted that everything to be done for Henry will be paid for from his personal purse and without recourse to public funds. He insisted also that no credit should come to him for anything done. This morning, the two gentlemen that

'Mathematical' in the "Sport of Kings". On the lighter side of life. Surprise, surprise. I still love to watch Western movies. I love the incredible scenes of gunslinging Cowboys galloping at incredible speeds on their horses, guns drawn and blazing! Tito, my 7-year old restless son who started horseriding since he was 3, set me on track to fulfilling my childhood fantasy when he woke me up at 4 O' clock this morning and insisted that I signed an undertaking to join him today in his horse-riding class at the Saddlers Club in Isheri, Lagos. Drunken with sleep I dismissed him by agreeing. As we drove to his class he reminded me about our agreement. Of course, I am a man of my words. I tried every trick in the book to convince him to move our date to be another day. He insisted, reminding me of what I always reminded him about fulfilling promises, once made. That's how, from 9 O' clock this morning, I have been at it, having my first taste of life on a saddle, a giant step towards 'stardom' in the Sport of Kings. I will not say more than that for now. I loved the gentle experience. Now the world should watch out for the new adventures of Mathematical in the game of POLO. Hahahaha hehehehehe. Segun Odegbami
