I stepped out to eat in a restaurant while I was waiting for NYSC mobilization, the usual girl who serves us food did her work as usual and I decided to pray for her and thank her for her job . They were paying her, weren't they? Yes they were, but then I still felt the need to celebrate her. When I was done eating, she came closer and asked me about my NYSC mobilization, she then said she knows of someone who can help me get a good place to serve. My personal core values doesn't support lobbying and I wasn't going to do that, but then I decided to call the number one afternoon, and it was the voice of a woman, the moment I mentioned my name, she told me the girl already spoke to her about me. Long story cut short, she asked me to select any state I wanted to serve in the country, she also said she understood that I am a pastor so I should pray about it. I got back to her after two days with the state, and it was settled.

I got to my camp, while I was in camp, our first day on queue to collect food as usual, when I was served my food, I told the woman who served the food "God bless you ma" , and that was it. She stepped aside and called me. She asked me of my name and when I told her she was so excited as her husband and I have the same name. She went on to say that none of my colleagues had ever appreciated them for serving food. She then asked me to see her in her office. While I was still pondering whether to go or not, I discovered that she was a national figure who was only serving food on that day, the moment I saw that, I jumped to her office immediately. Through that singular relationship, I knew where I was to be posted to before the end of camp and I wasn't allowed to eat just anything that others ate. I remembered entering my NYSC camp with just 2500 and by the time I was out I had close to one hundred thousand on me; from one favor to another.

In all these, I have come to learn the following; Favor is not automatic, favor flows in the direction of humility and honor. If you want your journey in life to be less stressful, honor all men, be meek, be humble. Many have driven their helper away just because they can't resist being unnecessarily proud. Pride has never helped anyone get to their destination, pride existed before other sins, it reduced Lucifer and made him become the devil. Pride can make a monster out of anyone.

WORDS ON MARBLE

An atheist once challenged me on a TV program.
“The blood of Jesus has been around for 2,000 years,” he said, “and if there was any power in it as you claim, the world would not be in such a sorry state.”
I replied, “Sir, there’s also plenty of soap around, but many people are still dirty. Soap makes nobody clean by being around, not even if they work in a soap factory - but wash yourself with it. Apply the blood of Jesus to your sinful life and you will join hundreds of millions of people who sing and say ‘There is power, power, wonder-working power in the precious blood of the Lamb.’”
God bless you.

HOW A MESSENGER HELPED DR. D.K. OLUKOYA

Every destiny that is not helped will be stranded. We all need destiny helpers to fulfill our destinies. As narrated by Dr. Olukoya in his book, "Beat the Best and Be the Best" how a messenger helped him while he was pursuing his Ph.D.

"In the year 1979, I had an experience which changed the course of the history of my life. I managed to go through university education even though when my father was so poor that he had to borrow money to pay my first school fees.

Some years later, I came out with first class degree in Microbiology from the University of Lagos. There was a desire in my heart to go for further studies. In fact, my desire was to go abroad, but my poor father could not afford it.

I was going through one of the daily newspapers one day, when I spotted an information concerning Commonwealth Scholarship. I copied the information, prepared my application, included my credentials and went to the Ministry of Education.

Unfortunately, when I got there, the Lady I met at the gate laughed at me and said, “You are a JJC( Johnny Just Come). You don’t even know that the Commonwealth Scholarship closed over two months ago. What have you been doing? Why don’t you go back home and forget the whole idea?

Cold sweat covered my face and my hands as I knew that it would take a scholarship for me to go further academically and win the fight against poverty.

While I was waiting in confusion, a messenger came to me where I was standing and asked: ”Young man, what is your problem?” I told him that I have come to submit my application for the Commonwealth Scholarship. The man surprised me when he said, “just wait for me, I am sent on an errand by one of the officers, when I am through, I will talk to you”.

After a few minutes, the messenger came back. When he discovered that I made a First class in Microbiology, he was moved. He said; Let me tell you the truth, Commonwealth Scholarship has closed. In fact, it closed two months ago, but I am going to do you a favour. I will go up and beg my boss to help you by all means.”

The messenger came back and collected the application from me. By divine twist, the officer in charge accepted my application and put it among the forms that have been prepared for dispatch.

Some months after this, to my surprise, I received a letter stating that I had won a Commonwealth Scholarship for a doctorate degree in the United Kingdom. The encounter with the messenger was used by God to move my destiny forward. There was no way I could have paid for overseas studies.

I never saw that messenger again until 29 years later. I received a note from during our power must change hands programme in 2008. The writer of the note described himself as the messenger who helped me in 1979. I remembered and asked the man to be brought in instantly.

When he came in, I was moved. I remembered that if not for his intervention, I would not have gone for further studies. Although the man had grown old, I could still recognise his face, introduced him to all my pastors saying: “Meet the man who moved my destiny forward “

I pray for you, you will meet the person that will move your destiny forward in the month of March."
