Reduce means to minimise the amount of waste we create. Reuse refers to using items more than once. Recycle means putting a product to a new use instead of throwing it away. Rethink is about considering how our actions affect the environment.

MEAL PLANNING
Meal planning is the action of deciding meals in advance using your schedule, preferences, foods on hand, seasonal produce, sale items, etc. Consequently, meal planning usually leads to grocery shopping once a week, for only the items needed and having others (e.g. family) involved in creating the menu.

Importance of meal planning
Planning meals to prepare at home is a good way to improve your food choices. Planning can also help you avoid less healthy food choices. A good place to start is MyPlate Plan. This tool calculates daily food group targets based on your age, s*x, height, weight, health and physical activity level.

Today, it was a display of phonological competence by the Cherish learners as Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy, Enerhen, dominated the semifinal of the John Uwem Interschool Spelling Bee which was hosted at Star Quest School, Ovwian.

The semifinal was among six schools that were picked based on their endearing track records in spelling bees. The exercise was in four categories: the grade 1, grade 2, grade 4, and grade 5 categories. Due to the high standard of the bee, the organisers reeled out the rules to the contestants, requesting strict adherence or face disqualification or elimination.

The grade 1 category commenced, and the Cherish learners attracted rounds of applause for their spelling proficiency. Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy extended its dominance as its grades 2, 4, and 5 learners spelled all words flawlessly and with a striking show of confidence.

According to the organisers, Cherish's one hundred percent precision in the spelled words is a record as no school, in the history of the competition, has achieved the feat. Below, are the names of our proficient spellers who dominated the semifinal today:

CHERISH SPORTS AND GAMES FESTIVAL

HUGE SUCCESS, RECORDED AT THE CHERISH MONTESSORI CAMBRIDGE ACADEMY INTER-HOUSE SPORTS COMPETITION, 2024, AS THE ATHLETICS DIRECTOR, MR JOPPY OKPAKPOR, GETS HONOURED

After a month of intense preparation, the Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy Inter-House Sports competition was hosted yesterday, Saturday, 24th February, 2024, at Delta Careers College, Airport Road, Warri.

As expected, the competition was not devoid of excitement. One feature, which made it unique, was the infusion of some British games to represent the status of the school as a British Montessori school. The immediate feedback, gotten, showed that some of the interesting games were new to the spectators who applauded the school for its huge interest in reformation and inventiveness.

The march past event was a closely contested one. It took the officials over an hour to decide the winner, as the four houses displayed high levels of paramilitary coordination. In the end, yellow house finished first while red house, green house, and blue house finished second, third and fourth in this order.

In the other events, it was obvious that Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy, Enerhen, would produce the next set of athletes to represent Nigeria at the next Olympic Games. The young athletes, representing the various houses, displayed laudable concentration, pace and teamwork, as all the events were keenly contested. At the end of all the events, yellow house finished first with 202 points, while red house finished second with 190 points. Green house finished third with 182 points; blue house finished fourth with 166 points.

While a musical interlude was observed, the parents and the guardians were interviewed and asked to rate the standard of Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy, Enerhen. It was a festival of praise as all the parents and the guardians gave the school a hundred percent in the ratings, thanking Chief Montessorian Theresa Ojigho, the Curriculum Director, for an excellent job in ensuring the academic and moral growth of the children. The MC, Uncle A.D., called her Delta's best Montessorian.

It was an episode of congratulations when Mr Joppy Okpakpor, the Athletics Director, was honoured for his commitment to his job. He was honoured by the Director of the school, Engr Emmanuel Ojigho. The Director thanked Mr Okpakpor for his incentive energies and proactiveness since assuming his role as the Athletics Director. It will be recalled that Mr Okpakpor fractured one of his bones while discharging his responsibilities at the last Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy Inter-House Sports competition which took place at the Warri Township Stadium. Despite the fracture, Mr Okpakpor continued to function as the Athletics Director to foreground his commitment to the school.

We thank God for the success of the competition. Huge thanks to the parents and guardians for the support... Many thanks to the instructors and learners for the weeks of commitment. Torrential thanks to the Director and the Curriculum Director for the huge assistance... Congratulations to all! We are all winners.

TOPIC: CULTURAL PRACTICES
It involves all the activities carried out on the farm before, during and after planting of crops. Cultural practices in crop production are grouped into three; they are

Pre-planning operation
Planting operations
Post-planting operations

Pre-planting Operations
These are operations done before planting, they include

Clearing of Site: This involves the removal of all the substances (vegetation) covering the soil, such as tress, grasses and other plants and animal remains. The aim of bush clearing is to clear the existing vegetation in order to make cultivation and various farm operations easy.

Stumping: This is the removal of plant stumps and roots from the soil. Stumps are dugged up from the base of their roots so that they will not disturb the farm equipment during tillage operations (harrowing and ridging).

Ploughing: this involves the turning of the soil upside down. It breaks up the soil leaving it in large lumps or clods. Ploughing is the first operation in tillage. It can be done with a hoe, a spade, or a tractor driven plough.

Harrowing: This involves the breaking up of the soil in to smaller pieces after initial ploughing. This is called pulverization of sol. The disc harrow is more suitable for use in the tropical areas. For crops that do not require seed beds or ridges such as rice, planting can be done after harrowing.

Ridging: This is the process of making seed bed (ridges, heaps or mounds). Ridging can be done by using hoe or tractor driven ridger. Animals could also be used to drag ridger for ridge making.
Ridging is done normally across the slope of the land to prevent it from being washed away by erosion.

Planting Operations
These are operations done during planting. They are

Planting: this is the act of sowing the desired seeds on a prepared field. In other words, it is the act or instance of putting seeds or young plant into the soil with convenient methods ( broadcasting, line sowing,dibbling, transplanting)

Nursery: is a place where plants are propagated and grown to usable size. In nursery, they are given tender care and protected from harsh weather condition

Transplanting: This refers to the transfer of ready seedlings from the nursery bed to the main field. It is used in vegetables, fruits, forestry and flower farming.

UNCONTROLLABLY TEARS AS CHERISH MONTESSORI CAMBRIDGE ACADEMY MOURNS A VISITING INSTRUCTOR

Yesterday, December 7, 2023, was the saddest day in the history of Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy, Enerhen, as we were informed about the shocking demise of Ambassador Darlington Ogaga, our LEEDS instructor.

We were all quaked by the heartrending information yesterday as Ambassador Darlington Ogaga was a very committed coach who had regularly portrayed his interest in moulding children to responsible individuals. He had also shown his interest in confronting marital challenges. Until his death, he was a renowned writer who had written many books in his quest to emancipate a generation where moral decadence is glorified. Ambassador Darlington Ogaga founded many academic organizations where he regularly taught leadership, classroom management and other educational concepts. Due to his hatred for oppressive tendencies, he also delved into activism. He was an activist with a rare touch of intellectuality, and he contributed immensely to the reduction in intimidation in Delta State and beyond.

Ambassador Darlington Ogaga was an evocative speaker. His eloquence and other cerebral traits endeared him to all. Due to his competence in his field, he was regularly invited to schools, radio stations and television stations to teach salient issues on parenting, education and sanity in the society. This explains why he received multiple awards, one of them being an award as one of the fifty most influential Deltans.

Ambassador Darlington Ogaga's death is a rude shock. We are yet to accept it. He was very vibrant and never exhibited traits of a health failure. Teachers are wailing. Learners are lamenting. Parents are heartbroken as it is so difficult to believe that the lively and empathic Ambassador Darlington Ogaga is no more. This life of nothingness...

Journey well, Ambassador Darlington Ogaga. Just yesterday, by 2 pm, you were active on Facebook; but some hours later, we were told that you had succumbed to the voice of death. Adieu, great coach. Our tears for you have flooded the streets.

YEAR 2 CHILDREN ARE VERY HAPPY TO SHOW YOU THEIR CLEAN TONGUES

Tooth Brush Day is observed in Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy , to reinforce the importance of children's oral health and promote good tooth-brushing habits recommended by dental experts. On this day, children come to school in their Pijamas just to encourage parents to make sure their kids brush their teeth and tongue for two minutes, twice a day.

ELATION AS MELODY AGBALAGBA EMERGES ONE OF THE WINNERS OF THE THREE SPOTS IN THE SHELL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME, 2023

It was an ambience of exhilaration today, November 20, 2023, as Mrs Agbalagba drove into the premises to joyfully apprise everyone of Melody Agbalagba's success in the Shell Scholarship Examination, 2023, conducted for indigenes of her community.

According to Mrs Agbalagba, whose face emitted smiles, Melody Agbalagba, together with two hundred other qualified candidates, sat for the Shell Scholarship Examination. The examination was conducted last month, October; and the results/scores were forwarded to the mailboxes of the candidates' parents today. Melody Agbalagba and two other candidates, who displayed intellectual exceptionality at the examination, had the highest scores, hence won the three scholarship spots, made available by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) for indigenes of her community. By virtue of this development, Shell Petroleum Development Company will be responsible for the education of the three intelligent beneficiaries.

Intellectual uniqueness has always been one of the insignias of Cherish Montessori Cambridge Academy, Sedco, Enerhen, Effurun, Delta State. This news foregrounds the effectiveness of our instructional input and the quality of learners we breed. We give and produce the best. Glory to God!
