The toys you give them ....

Both founders of Wobbel have their kids in Waldorf schools. In Waldorf schools they do encourage playing with open-ended, wooden toys. The principle behind this is that there are so many ideas in your child's head already, and it's really good to stimulate that. A lot of modern toys play for your child. Lights, noises, screens. The toys play, and doesn't require much action from the child. And that's a pity. Because every child wants to learn and grow. And that requires a stimulating environment. Socially, physically and emotionally. The Wobbel fits within that environment. It invites your child to do what they need to do. Fantasy play, playing together, movement, balance and rest. Open ended toys are easy to integrate into any kind of upbringing and education. It's a Waldorf legacy to share. 



In a world that seem to change so fast, some things always stay the same. The fundamentals of play for example. Play is not just fun, it's crucial in childhood. Cause while playing they learn what they need later on in life. Did you know stacking ticks all boxes in the development of a child? Motor skills, balance, speech, fantasy...

THE STORY BEHIND THE DESIGN OF THE MACARON....

The idea for the Macaron sprouted already about 5 or 6 years ago. We were inspired by old Japanese toys and the magic of oloids and we had some prototypes made.
After a few iterations they didn’t act the way we wanted so we left it there.
2 years ago we started sketching and designing similar designs when we recalled that original idea.
So we designed a bunch of variations and with the help of a 3D printer we could rapidly make prototypes.
The biggest challenge was for them to spin without touching the band, slide if wanted and roll sideways in an unpredictable manner.
We finally landed on this design and were very happy to have finally found our German partners to make these wooden parts so smooth and great to touch. And here we are!!!
They’re so much fun for endless play, games, fidgeting and all kinds of challenges. And we are delighted to see them come alive in all of your kid's open ended play adventures!!!

Here in the Netherlands we have our first 'feels like Spring' weekend. So beautiful to see how people 'wake up', try to catch every sunray. We love the light, we need it!

The quote 'Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get' is our company's mission. We do the invitation, kids do the playing. Our toys are what kids want them to be.

We believe that kids will develop perfectly fine by offering gentle and open invitations.
Cause it is all already inside. Waiting to be invited. What it is, at what time? That's within each child. Just give them trust, space and open ended invitations and they will answer. Enjoy the ride!

Amazing to see the versatility in use, the unity around the globe, the way it blends in every livingroom. Open ended toys like the Wobbel are an open invitation. To play, to rest, to freestyle. Why spinning is superimportant in childhood development.

Spinning ticks all important boxes: from sensory integration to brain development and emotional regulation. Spinning might be only known as a way to develop better balance and coordination. And yes: when spinning, children must adjust their weight and movements to maintain their balance, which can help build strong motor skills. But there is more: spinning helps to develop spatial awareness, an important asset to loads of activities. Spinning also activates self regulation in emotions. In other words it helps to regulate mood and promote calmness.
