EN: Last week, more than 300 villagers from Nyaung Bin Thar village and nearby villages in Bago Region lost their homes and loved ones to a brutal military junta raid, killing 18 villagers including 5 children. https://www.irrawaddy.com/news/burma/myanmar-junta-massacres-18-bago-villagers-including-five-children.html The traumatised villagers are now hiding in the jungle in dire monsoon condition with an urgent need for food, shelter, and medical help, especially for children and the elderly who are falling ill. We will be transferring all the proceeds collected to provide immediate support for the IDPs in Bago.

Het is 2 jaar geleden dat de militaire staatsgreep in Myanmar plaatsvond. Graag nodigen wij u uit om onze herdenkingsbijeenkomst bij te wonnen. Het doodsvonnis voor de vier activisten laat zien hoezeer de dictatuur de controle verliest De activisten die zich al decennia tegen de militaire dictatuur van Myanmar verzetten en de opstand mede vormgaven, werden vorige week opgehangen. Toch is de junta de controle in een groot deel van het land kwijt.

The Netherlands-Myanmar Solidarity Platform Foundation is looking for a:

COORDINATOR (m/f/...) (1 day/week)

The Netherlands Myanmar Solidarity Platform is a young network that supports the people of Myanmar in their struggle for freedom and against oppression by the military regime. With a small budget the network runs through the efforts of many volunteers. We expect the coordinator to coordinate, support and encourage the efforts of the volunteers. The coordinator will be managed by the Board of the foundation. The 'appointment' will be made as a self-employed person (ZZP’er). Work from home or in an (NGO) office in Amsterdam. The platform offers a highly motivated and diverse group of volunteers and a wonderful and challenging cause to work for.

Tasks

• Organise regular (online or physical) meetings of the network and externally,
• coordinate with other organisations working on Myanmar,
• together with volunteers ensure a strong and up-to-date presence of the platform on social media,
• producing reports of meetings,
• coordinating with the European network,
• supporting the board, especially in the field of fundraising and lobby coordination.

Profile

The platform is looking for someone who:
• is motivated by the mission of the platform,
• has experience in working with volunteers and coordinating volunteers’ activities,
• has knowledge and experience of Myanmar,
• can act as a mediator in an environment with differences of opinion,
• is reliable and has integrity,
• is available and willing to commit for a longer period (at least one year),
• has a command of the Dutch and English language,
• has experience in dealing with the media.
and preferably also:
• has a command of the Myanmar language.
