De Torteltuin co-hosted an amazing collaborative evening in Pakhuis de Zwijger. Our own .caton who moderated the evening, summarized it brilliantly: together, we are solving the living crisis! And that is a pretty neat thing to be working on! 🕊️🏡🌳

Housing cooperatives of Amsterdam are organising an event together! 🤩

How are housing cooperatives the solution to a stalled housing market? And what does a housing cooperative actually entail? Find out and engage in a conversation with cooperatives on Wednesday, July 3 at Pakhuis de Zwijger. 

The new cabinet calls cooperative housing the third sector on the housing market, next to individual homeowners and rental housing. 

In this program at De Zwijger, we will hear from housing cooperatives De Woonwolk, De Torteltuin, Stroom, De Bonte Hulst, de Warren, de Nieuwe Meent and Eureka about what makes cooperatives so special. 

We will also share different perspectives from the field, all around the question: what is needed to remove the barriers so that cooperative living can truly become a third sector?

Natrufied Architecture built a beautiful model of our building! 🙌🌟

At our Tortelfestival we were delighted to reveal the model of our building together with Natrufied Architecture.

It shows how our building balances well between green, individual and communal spaces.

One of our hosts Chandar (Thanks again De Warren for hosting us!) and members Silke, Jelle and Alexander were among the first to view the building model up close.

We found some circular heroes! 🏗️✨

Thanks to the support of Woonwaard, Max Giebels and Hans Hoogervorst, we were able to take the first step in our search for circular materials.

The wood from the doors in the picture is a potential source for our future facade. Recently, we have been disassembling the doors to figure out how to reuse the wood in the best manner. This turned out to be more challenging than initially thought...

Unfortunately, the world is not yet fully set up for recycling and reuse, which makes our work extra challenging. But we remain steadfast in our mission and continue our search for more circular materials!

Thank you Woonwaard, Max and Hans for your valuable contribution and thinking along. 💚 Your enthusiasm for circularity and willingness to go the extra mile have made a huge difference. 🙌

We offer bonds, 250,- each, with a maturity of 10 years and an interest rate of 3%.

As we have more flexibility in our business case now, we can now offer 3% as interest rate for our 10 year bonds as well. Our 2 year bonds sold out quickly, so be smart and head to our website now. Link in bio!

By buying one or several of our bonds you will help us finance the last 5% of our business case. As soon as the bonds are sold we will start building De Torteltuin.

This will allow us to create change in the city by building social, green and affordable housing together with you and kickstart a housing movement of cooperatives for the future of the Netherlands!

95% of our building is funded. We sold all bonds of Tranche 1 of our bond campaign. But now we need your help!

With the current investments of 17.500,- in Tranche 2 we are still some wood building elements away before we can start building.

October 1 we need to have achieved a funding of at least 300.000,- in Tranche 2. Otherwise we can only build very small houses such as the one Michiel is holding in his hand.

You would not only support a social and green project that provides social housing, also to people with a difficult position on the housing market, as well as public spaces for the city that are open to everyone. But also you would enable us as a non-profit association to kickstart a social cooperative housing movement as all of our profits will be re-invested in cooperative housing projects in the future!

During the last couple of weeks the façade committee has been busy collecting recycled wood for the purpose of building a mockup of our façade.

We are currently looking for a storage space in Amsterdam or close by for storing the first batches of recycled wood we have been able to save.

Tortels Iris en Tjalling vertelden in Biobased Magazine uitvoerig over de duurzame ambities van de torteltuin! Dit stuk is met 8 andere verhalen gebundeld in een verhalenbundel van het Ministerie van Binnenlandse zaken over Biobased wonen en leven. Zie de link in de bio!

In een camperbusje in Amsterdam heeft zich vorige week een historisch moment voltrokken: wij tekenden onze eerste lening! We werken nu hard aan het definitieve ontwerp van ons gebouw, die we mede dankzij deze lening kunnen bekostigen. Wonen in de Torteltuin komt steeds dichterbij! 🌿🕊️

Wat een puppy’s 🐶

Hier bestond de Torteltuin nog niet zo lang en droomden we alles bij elkaar. Spelenderwijs hebben we stappen gemaakt: we zijn nu een volwassen vereniging met serieuze doelen. Daarbij hoort ook de olifant in de kamer: geld! 💸
We hebben architecten in de arm genomen, advies gevraagd aan adviseurs (what’s in a name) en allerlei losse kosten gedekt.
