Sleepy Hollow - immersive VR experience

We often test the merger of immersive design and live theater to achieve the right balance. That means a lot of testing and trying out. In the photo one of our producers.

“I have never experienced being able to walk around freely within a performance!” a visitor told us enthusiastically afterwards. Last week, a small group of early adapters attended the first playtest of our immersive VR-experience 'Sleepy Hollow'. The presentation marked the end of the development period between Studio Immersief and Studio VRij to conduct research to link live (immersive) theatre to virtual reality. The visitors experienced a theatre scene, and both a passive and active view VR-scene. The aftermovie will follow soon!

In our production 'Sleepy Hollow' we bring immersive theater and VR together. Here VR designer Joelle explains to the team what the virtual dimensions are so that we can recreate this in the scenography.

Sleepy Hollow - immersive VR experience. Is an one-of-a-kind immersive theatre murder mystery experience in VR!

“Sleepy Hollow” is a unique and innovative immersive experience that combines immersive theater and virtual reality (VR) to create a one-of-a-kind murder mystery experience. The project is a collaboration between Studio VRij and Studio Immersief, and takes place in a Dutch settlement in the state of New York in 1790.

In “Sleepy Hollow”, the audience is invited to participate in solving the mystery surrounding the ghost of the headless horseman. Participants will join Ichabod Crane on his quest to uncover the truth behind the ghost in this exciting and immersive experience that blends Washington Irving's classic tale with Dutch history.

The project is currently in development, with the first test rounds planned for September of this year. The goal of the project is to merge history, technology, and storytelling to create an unforgettable experience that transports audiences to another time and place. The first real shows are planned to debut next year.
