Just a few minutes ago, we crossed the 75.000 euro mark, unlocking our second stretch goal! With another 17 days to go, we’re hoping that your continued support will help us unleash even more Blood and Doom mayhem, but for now let’s take a closer look at what you will be getting this time around.

All of our backers will receive a full-color map of the Athyrian solar system, complete with its two suns, Athyr’s five moons, and their celestial alignments.

But that’s not all, as this stretch goal also includes a calendar for the three notations used on Athyr, complete with the special events celebrated on specific dates, such as Mythic Revelries, Grand Celebrations, Arcane Conclaves, Sacred Rites, and Hallowed Evenings.

Both the solar system map and the calendar will be made available as PDFs to all backers, but those of you who have entered a pledge of Disciple or higher will even get printed versions, to be included in your final packages!

In addition, we will be adding detailed double-sided maps for each of Athyr’s known five regions: Ethennia, Ishta, the Sundered Wastes, Evandyr, and the Islands of Roshan. One side will have hexes printed on it, the other side will not include any overlay whatsoever. This Region Map Set will also be available as a print Add-On for a scant €20.

The Eye of Maru-Dasa reverses a popular fantasy trope all of you will know and – likely – love. In many a fantasy tale, the adventurers go looking for some kind of treasure or long-lost artifact. However, in The Eye of Maru-Dasa, the artifact goes looking for them, as all of the Characters are visited by visions that beckon them towards the forest where a relic of old is calling for their help.

What does the Eye want from the Characters? Why is it reaching out to them specifically – or is it trying to contact other people as well? Could the Eye be Ayaai in origin, or is some other civilization responsible? The Eye of Maru-Dasa ups the ante and makes things personal as the personalities and backgrounds of the Characters come into play. Failure does not just mean losing, it stands for losing everything dear to the Characters’ hearts.

Add the horror to your Blood and Doom game with our second Doomsayer’s Codex: Twelve Pillars of Doom, to be Kickstarted on the 21st of March and distributed by Modiphius Entertainment!
Twelve Pillars of Doom focuses on the 12 major cults active on Athyr, as well as the 12 extradimensional entities they worship. Known as the Heralds of Doom, each of these degenerated extradimensional beings poses not just a threat to Athyr itself, but also to the rest of the galaxy.

The Heralds of Doom first appeared after an ancient race from beyond the stars, the Ayaari, accidentally opened a rift to another reality. Since then, they have been scouring the universe, devouring, subjugating, or destroying entire planets and solar systems. So far, Athyr has escaped the fate that has befallen much of the universe, but time is short and the world is in danger of being doomed, as the various cults are all trying to get in touch or summon the malevolent, nearly-omnipotent creatures they pray and plead to.

Across Athyr, the chants of the cults are becoming louder, their influence growing and the corrupting aura of their Heralds increasing… and the Characters might be the last ones left to stand up to them.

Find out everything about two of the cults, the Yiukashin and the Sheddai, in the FREE Doomsayer Codex Primer we’ll be making available next month, next to our other two free Primer books.

Introducing the cover of our upcoming Blood and Doom Doomsayer’s Codex: Guide to Athyr, one of the three books we’ll be Kickstarting on the 21st of March!

The Doomsayer’s Codex will include all of the setting information you’ll need to play the game outside of the cults. What’s more, it’ll allow you to dive into the setting without necessarily including the cults and extradimensional Heralds of Doom found in the Doomsayer’s Codex: Twelve Pillars of Doom.

The Guide to Athyr will focus on the five known regions in the setting: the majestical desert lands of Ethennia, the rich jungle kingdoms of Ishta, the feudal realms of Evandyr, the mysterious Islands of Roshan, and the smattered settlements of the Sundered Wastes.

The Guide to Athyr and its two sister books will be distributed by Modiphius Entertainment, but we’d love to invite you to get a taste of what is to come by downloading our FREE Primer books (including two starting adventures), which we’ll be making available next month!

Kickstarting on the 21st of March and distributed by Modiphius Entertainment, this tome will let you play the entire game without even needing the two other rulebooks that will be released simultaneously.

The Core Rulebook will not only include all of the player-facing rules and Classes, but enough monsters and Doomsayer advice to start playing right away. It’ll even present an overview of the setting to take a deep dive in what makes Blood and Doom so unique.

In February, we’ll be offering the Blood and Doom Core Rulebook Primer as a completely FREE PDF: 250 pages of goodness that will allow you access to roughly half of the content you’ll be getting in the final book. Joining it will be the two Doomsayer’s Codex Primer books, which will feature another 250 pages as a playable sample of the ‘Guide to Athyr’ and ‘Twelve Pillars of Doom’ that will be included in the Kickstarter.

A full week has passed since our last post and of course that can only mean we’ve been preparing a major announcement for you!
We’re extremely excited to share that our dark fantasy tabletop roleplaying game Blood and Doom will be distributed by Modiphius Entertainment!

Modiphius has been a major player ever since it all started with the amazing Achtung! Cthulhu TTRPG and since, this amazing British publisher has brought us great tabletop roleplaying games, board games, card games, novels, and miniature battle games such as Fallout, Star Trek Adventures, Conan: Adventures in an Age Unheard Of, Skyrim: The Adventure Game, the Kung Fu Panda Board Game, The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms Tabletop Miniature Game, SPECTRE, and much more.

Although Modiphius has its own proprietary 2d20 system, Blood and Doom will still be using its own player-facing d10 dice pool rules set, and we will be Kickstarting not one, not two, but three books, plus a heap of extras.

The Blood and Doom Core Rulebook will allow you to play the game without the need for any other books, and includes the rules, Classes and advice for Doomsayers on how to run the game.
The Blood and Doom Doomsayer’s Codex: Guide to Athyr will introduce the setting of Athyr, including its five major regions, all described in detail, and adding a ton of extra monsters to use in your game.

Finally, the Blood and Doom Doomsayer’s Codex: Twelve Pillars of Doom will get you intimately familiar with the twelve major cults operating on Athyr, each of them worshipping another foul extradimensional entity known as a Herald of Doom. It adds the horror and mystery you’ll need if you would like to take a deeper dive into the dark fantasy aspects of the game.

Blood and Doom will Kickstart on the 21st of March, and during the next three days, we’ll post more information on each book… However, before we launch our crowdfunding campaign together with Modiphius, we’ll still give you three FREE Primer books, totaling over 500 pages. Each of these Primers will reflect the aforementioned books, with enough material to experience the game until the Kickstarter books are delivered to your home later this year. What’s more: two adventures will be included as well, so you can immediately start playing!

Four thousand years ago, the repulsive multi-limbed extradimensional entity known as Lanesh was the first of the twelve Heralds of Doom to make it to Athyr. In a nearly-cataclysmic battle that shook the skies themselves, the gods managed to imprison the monstrosity somewhere on the planet and carefully hid the exact location.

The insane cult members of the Sheddai are now trying to communicate with Lanesh through simulacra in an ultimate bid to find out where the creature is and release it, believing the being that already enslaved billions throughout reality will allow them to become the sole masters of mankind.

The Sheddai are one of the two cults completely covered in our upcoming free, 250-page, Blood and Doom: Doomsayer Codex Primer. Watch for it and the likewise free 250-page Blood and Doom: Core Ruleset Primer in February!

Primer Books

We announced a while back that we would be releasing a Blood and Doom Quickstart in February. Well… our plans have changed, as instead of a 150-page Quickstart, we’ll be publishing two (yes, two!) 250-page Primer Books, for a total of 500 free pages to get your hands on and play the game with your friends, share experiences and comments, and hopefully get warmed up for our Kickstarter launch on the 21st of March. Both books will still be released in February, as planned.

The first book is the Blood and Doom: Core Ruleset Primer, which includes the rules of the game and 4 fully playable Classes (and their 8 Archetypes) to make your Character with, plus some information on the other 5 Classes and 10 Archetypes. Of course, pre-generated Characters are also available should you want to get playing straight away. The book also includes an introduction to Athyr (Blood and Doom‘s setting) intended for players to get a feel of the world and what it means to adventure there.

The second book is the Blood and Doom: Doomsayer’s Codex Primer, which includes 2 starting adventures (Faces of Evil and The Seven Jewels of Azul-Ra). It also includes 2 of the game’s 12 cults, described in glorious detail, as well as guidelines on how to build your own adventures or campaigns and 100 pages of setting background, covering large parts of Athyr’s easternmost regions, Ethennia and Istha. As an added bonus, we’re giving you a host of Monster Stat Blocks.

The two Blood and Doom Primer books are written by creator Ferruccio Argento and his team of award-winning writers: Jason Walters, Jason Durall, Michael Surbrook, Steven S. Long, and Dirk Vandereyken. Also, we’re proud to include ideas that were launched or shaped by the late Darren Watts, a great and exceptional human being who sadly passed away when 2023 hit. He will be sorely missed.

Both books will be in full, glorious color, and the PDFs will be made available through Drivethrurpg, this website, and other channels. If you’re a subscriber, we’ll send links to the PDFs to you automatically, before anyone else will be able to download them.

This is our gift to you, our fans. You’ve been remarkable, we’ve been loving talking to you at our booths during conventions, and sharing ideas with you has been a blessing. We thought you deserved a great preview of what our tabletop roleplaying game is about, and this is what you’re getting.

To drive home our point, we’re also trusting you with an Open Game License – an OGL that will allow you to create Blood and Doom content, keep the copyright, and keep whatever earnings you make. We know there are some amazing (budding) designers among you and that’s why we’re adding the stipulation that the agreement is irrevocable. We trust you all to come up with some great stuff that will make us proud and keep us on our toes, forcing us to keep supplying you with the very best artwork, setting information, rules, adventures, miniatures, accessories, and supplements we are able to make.
