Whilst Heather and Hugo were away, Frank stepped up to the plate to lead yesterday’s workout. Clearly it was a good one as three generations of Heinley’s came out for it. Thanks, Frank! Next week is the Halloween workout, don’t miss it and if you can, wear something fun.
See you then?

The Wednesday after the (half) marathon of Amsterdam. Tired legs needed to be sprung back to life and what better way than a workout with plenty of burpees ánd a squat hold burnout. Next week Frank will lead our workout at the bridge side of the Nemo. Be sure to join him!

Mornings are getting darker. Days are getting shorter. The NP community is growing larger.

So nice to see such a good PR day turnout. You are stronger, fitter, faster, kinder than you all know. Thanks for showing up and showing those stairs (and 1000 rep challenge) who is boss.

We have had quite the tragic 2023 in our personal lives so far but you all make it worth setting that alarm for 5am.

See you next week at the stairs for another sweaty workout.

Blurry picture season is upon us again, but it was nice to see some old faces at NP yesterday. Thanks Robbie for the bounce (Dima liked it too).

Thanks Frank and Jorit for celebrating their 10yr anniversary with us at 6:28AM.

Hope to see some new, old, young faces next week for PR day!

Not the turnout we’d hoped for, but as a wise man once said: “ let it go, let it go”. Oh, guess that was Elsa from Frozen. Leave it to to turn that into a killer burnout and so we planked into the sunrise, whilst Dima ate his crackers. Thanks for the hard work this morning friends, the intensity was good!
Next week, bridge side of the Nemo.
Oh and does anyone know how to get this Frozen song out of my head?

Happy 7th year birthday 🎉🎂🎊🎈

May we have many more years of free fitness, hugs, high-fives, sweat, stairs, and friendships .

Working out in pairs is always more fun than working out alone. This morning’s partner workout got us trying out new exercises, chatting with new friends or old acquaintances, and leaning on each other (literally) to get it done.

Join us next weekend at the Nemo bridge side as we celebrate NP Amsterdam’s 7th birthday! Bring a friend and get a free Brooks hat.

Tabata helped us experience time a bit differently this morning - that the rate at which time passes largely depends on our frame of reference.

Indeed, it is true, time is relative. 45 seconds of hard exercises seems infinitely longer than it should and 15 seconds of rest flies by in a flash.

But this distortion of time was well worth it for the smiles, high fives, sweat, laughter, and sore muscles.

See you next week bridge side of the Nemo for another free workout.

Energized by the rising sun we celebrated the return of summer weather with a tough pyramid workout. And when both your parents are co-leaders, your first form of communication is high fives. They were given out tirelessly. So if you want an endless stream of high fives, come next week to get your share! Better yet: bring a friend and get a free Brooks hat too!

Photos from Amsterdam Fit Project's post 10/08/2023

Yesterday morning everyone tried really hard not to lose their marbles. It surely didn’t help that the bucket of marbles was stationed at the very top of the stairs. With some help from the younger NP- generation, the Grey Bowls beat the Blue Buckets. No time to celebrate though, as we had a special burnout dessert, stuffed with burpees. Frank earned a cool Brooks hats for recruiting Jorit and of course she got one too. Want one too? Just bring a friend next week!

Bridge workout today! But not before we did quite a few “get to know all about your summer plans squats”.

Daunting clouds lingered over us with the sound of thunder in the distance. Lucky for us only the first drops of rain fell during the group photo.

Next week is PR-day at Rietlandpark. Frank will be there to keep the clock and celebrate all your PR’s!

Photos from Amsterdam Fit Project's post 20/07/2023

After welcoming Natasha from NP Madison, Robbie got us going with a fun Yellow Submarine bounce. The workout that followed was a tough one, which gave us extra joy when we announced the burnout: 5 minutes of alternating wall sits( with or without toddler on lap) and sprinting the docks.
But hey, that’s why we are here, no?
See you all next week at the bridge side of the Nemo!

Photos from Amsterdam Fit Project's post 13/07/2023

We overcame our fear of clowns today at NP Amsterdam.

We wore wigs, painted our faces, told bad jokes, had a circus burnout, got interesting looks from passersby, ran stairs, made a cheer tunnel, and got our yearbook photos taken by the talented Robbie all in less than 45 minutes.

Thanks for clowning around with us this morning and making it one hell of a circus.

Thanks to Jake and Laura from Scioto Mile NP for showing up and dressing up on their vacation.

05/07/2023

With storm Poly inbound, only the very brave (or uniformed) came out for PR-day this morning.

Co-leader kept Dima and Xander safe at home, which allowed to have two pieces of Frank’s birthday treat. Seemed only fair, right?

We ran stairs, did burpees, and made it home just in time before the trains stopped, trees topped over, cars crashed, and weather vehemently turned from code orange to code red.

Next week, with the sun shining, we are back at the Nemo. Don’t forget that next Wednesday is our annual yearbook photos. This years theme is ‘clowning around’ and we can’t wait to see your impersonation of your favorite clown. For those that lack a costume trunk or are unable to make it to a thrift store, we will have a few props to help you feel like Krusty, It, Bozo, Ronald McDonald, Happy Slappy or whatever your red nose desires!

Bring a clown, and get a free Brooks hat. See all your painted smiles (or frowns) next week for another great workout.

While we celebrate 365 today was a special workout! Amsterdam brought the rain so we had to bring the 🌈🌈!

Thanks Kate and Dani for guest co-leading with an educational yet sweaty workout about issues the + community is still facing today…

We welcomed Kevin in from NP Portland and Brian who thankfully lives in Amsterdam so we are excited to see him regularly…

Join us next week for at Rietlandpark!

It’s one of our favourite workouts of the year as it’s full of:

The AMAZING thing about our NP community is no matter how long you’ve been away you are always welcomed with a hug and a high-five! It was great seeing some faces we’ve missed today…

Guest co-leaders Stephan and Dani had us sprinting, planking, pressing, rocking and rolling!

Don’t miss next week when we make it rain 🌈🌈 for our workout led by Dani and Kate on bridge side of NEMO Science Museum!!

This group was more than Global Running Day in Amsterdam this morning. It was friends reuniting. It was people stepping up and showing up to render support. It was community, love, and friendship.

When tragedy hits, this group doesn’t stop. It embraces each other and continues to move, hug, high-five and live.

Thank you to Robbie for guest leading this morning and to all those that offered to assist in the coming weeks.

We appreciate all of you and are so glad you are here. We are incredibly thankful for this community. It sometimes takes a loss to be reminded of how precious life is and the people here and now that make it a tiny bit more bearable.

Thanks, friends.

Love Hugo and Heather

You are never too young or too old to try for a PR!

Hugo and I had parent brains this week and thought this Wednesday was the first week of June. It took us a while to clue in that it was last week of May.

But you can never have too many PR days in the month of May, right?

We are turning our mistakes into lemonade and hosting a special global running day workout next Wednesday at bridge side of Nemo.

If you love to run a little or a lot (or not at all), we got you covered. See you there!

Thanks to Erwin and Barry for bringing the sun from Australia to Amsterdam via video call this morning.

The sun makes everything better. It brings people out of hibernation and makes that alarm clock sing instead of buzz and the people flock to the outdoors instead of hide under the bedcovers.

High fives sailed, hugs embraced, and smiles curled.

It was such a glorious morning that we ended with a group bicycle ride to Queen’s Bicycle Race. Because we all want to ride our bicycle, bicycle, bicycle.

Next week, we celebrate June with PR Day at Rietland Park. See you there!

The sun makes everyone happier. Our steps were lighter, our push-ups stronger, our sit-ups faster, our burpees bouncier, and our faces brighter.

We were running on sunshine, woah! And don’t it feel great!

See you all next Wednesday at the Nemo (bridge side) for hopefully more sun, high-fives, hugs, and sweat.

This morning we all came prepared for yet another miserable, rainy, cold, classic Dutch spring morning. Long tights, layers, buffs - we were ready.

To our surprise (and misery), the weather was lovely but by the fifth burpee most of us were regretting our choice of attire.

Add dice, stairs, burpees, and the notorious Halo-burnout to the equation and you know it was good, yet sweaty, morning.

Thanks for the hard effort everyone! See you all next week - same time, same place. Oh and bring a friend or two (and a dry shirt for Stephan).

We have a love/hate relationship with PR day and those grueling stairs and never ending burpees. But those smiles of relief when that 30 minute timer was up, were worth the sweat, right?

After 7 years of missing it, we finally gave Stephan the birthday boom he deserved. Thanks Shiva for the reminder!

Welcome Grace, our newest member of NP Amsterdam. We hope to see you again next Wednesday at the stairs.

Keep smiling, keep sweating, keep doing hard things, and most importantly keep showing up.

We celebrated King’s Day one day early at November Project Amsterdam.

King’s Day (Koningsdag) is a Dutch national holiday celebrating the birth of King Willem-Alexander. It is a day filled with music, dancing, flea markets, outrageous orange outfits, and orange glazed tompouce from Hema.

We celebrated the day running circles on a track with an orange glowing sky, giving high fives, wearing orange workout clothes and buffs, and cheering each other on. It’s the best kind of party if you ask me.

Warm congratulations to Anna and Sarah on their engagement. We wish you all the love from Amsterdam on your union of love.

Next week see you at Rietlandpark for another round of PR Day!

The rain stopped. The sun rose. And the alarm clocks went off for Wednesday morning workout this week.

We did circuits of push-ups, sit-ups, walking lunges, bear crawls, burpees, stairs and sprints this morning and finished off with 26 burpees to a little Roxanne.

Birthday booms were celebrated for Xander and Saartje. We are so glad you are here.

See you all next week for a track workout at arsenal!

Small group called for a change of plans. We scrapped the workout and did a run in Amsterdam instead.

Our small group of 4.5 craved a bit more weekly mileage, especially in light of our upcoming races. It was also an easy way to keep warm in the rain.

Plus who said puddle jumping isn’t fun on a Wednesday morning?

Hope to see the sun and more of you morning people next Wednesday at the Nemo stairs.

30 minutes of running stairs and burpees is not for the faint of heart. But this group of people proved that hard things are indeed possible.

Congrats to every single one of you for showing up, running stairs, earning PRs, and giving Hugo a hard time with his lack of selfie skills.

Next week, we continue the sweat, the burn, the hard work, and the fun at the Nemo at 6:28am.

For those celebrating Easter, enjoy the weekend with your family and friends.

Leadership doesn’t end. It grows even after retirement. I know will continue to guide and inspire for many more years to come.

Dani retired in style with a jeopardy inspired workout and presents and cupcakes to top off the morning.

Thanks to for the original Minnie Mouse artwork and Diana for organizing the superwomen cape and cupcakes from . Thanks to for coming out and tagging everyone’s shirt with a one time Dani tag. Thanks to everyone that came out to celebrate our co-leader. And finally, thanks to Dani for putting up with me these past two years. It has been a blast.

See you all next week at Rietlandpark for PR day.

Our Story

What is November Project?

Getting up early sucks. Getting up early in the dark, rain, cold, or all of the above, sucks even worse. But when you #justshowup to NP early on a dark, cold, rainy Wednesday morning, you are showing up to smiling faces of people just like you. They will give you a hips-in hug (get over it), they will tell you that they are glad you came, and then they will join you in a workout that will kick your ass. It doesn't matter if you are an olympic triathlete, or a recent couch potato - all workouts are contained and inclusive. You could be on your 17th set of stair sprints while the person next to you is just trying to get to the top twice that morning. November Project is for everyone.

How much does it cost?

Zero euro. €0. We repeat ZERO EURO. Fitness should be free. Community should be free. Meeting new friends, seeing the sunrise over the Oosterdok, and getting faster, stronger, better, should be free.

Why so early?

Because excuses stink. Any other time of the day, there can be a million excuses not to work out -drinks after work, studying, picking kids up from activities, working late, dinner plans, etc. The only excuse you have at 6:30 in the morning is that you couldn't get out of bed to see your friends, give out some high-fives, destroy some stairs, and get your workout in before you start your work day.

Where is it?

First Wednesday of the month = Rietlandpark
Last Wednesday of the month = Nemo Bridges
All other Wednesdays = Nemo Stairs

Any other questions?
