Deze korte film, geregisseerd door Victoria Warmerdam, werd vertoond op Imagine Film Festival en we zijn verheugd het nieuws te kunnen delen dat de film een prijs heeft gewonnen op BIFF! AUGURE out in Cinemas now!⁠ A young Congolese man faces suspicion and superstition upon returning to his homeland. Hip-hop musician and visual artist Baloji manages to paint a nuanced picture of the clash of cultures and the coercive power of family ties in his poetic and aptly crafted debut film. The film casts a critical eye on beliefs in witches and demons, but also shows an understanding of the ties to ancestors that keep family traditions alive. In addition to the family members, Baloji - himself born in Congo and now living in Brussels - performs a series of characters who are each, in their own way, victims of exclusion. Energetic and dynamic magical realism in which there is no escape from the ghosts of the past.
