From a desire to ride motorbikes all over Europe, explore the continent and surf as much as possible Rides & Tides was born.
We want to take you on an adventure: to ride your bike through beautiful countries, on the best roads to lead you to amazing surf spots and ride some more. You won’t have to worry about if your bike will do the trip there, because we will bring it there for you, along with all your riding and surfing gear, and your luggage. We will take you on tours of the area and end up at a surf spot. There wil
Another wheelie good day at for . Nothing but dusty smiles and dirty bikes, as life should be. practicing, 1960 Aermacchi Harley Davidson Ala Verde 250cc (when HD was owned by Italians), KTM LC4 powered beast, 1960’s Triumph, Bultaco, a set of beautiful Royal Enfields for the vintage class, custom Honda XR, Yamaha XSR650 and a fairly stock Kawasaki Z500. Today was a good day.
In dire need of some of this! Somewhere in the Pyrenees, scouting for roads and views, with great success! Instagram needs a panorama setting, because this doesn’t do the view justice!
The Pyrenees aren’t just winding mountain passes, but also the open, winding roads with hardly a straight bit in sight.
Finally got round to getting some clips sorted! One of the routes we’ll be taking when we’re in the Pyrenees. Amazing views and not a straight bit in sight!
A view we might share in the future. One of the passes in the Pyrenees, somewhere between France and Spain, or the Basque Country as the locals call it. 600m above sea level, and rolling hills and mountains as far as the eye can see.
Getting ready to ride, just waiting for 2 more.
We're back!
After 8 months of physiotherapy and uncertainty, I'm able to walk, and most importantly, ride again for more than a day!
It wasn't a guarantee that would happen, so I've kept Rides & Tides on the back burner, to focus on getting back in the saddle. I’m putting my foot to the test at Wheels and Waves, and in the Pyrenees. So far it has been really good and the riding has been amazing. I’m scouting for tours and locations, while gawking at all the amazing bikes at W&W.
I can’t wait to take the first group here in 2019, when Rides & Tides will finally kick off!
It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you all that Rides & Tides won’t be able to happen for 2018.
The crash last year caused a lot more damage than I initially thought. The bones have healed well and are in a good position, but all the soft tissue is damaged and scarred. I’ve tried to make it work with physiotherapy and training, but to no avail.
This means I can’t walk properly for another 6 to 12 months, and this stops me from being able to host a full week safely and with the quality I intend.
There will be things happening for Rides & Tides this year, but the trips themselves will start early 2019. I’m hoping to turn this problem into an opportunity, and prepare everything far beyond what I could for 2018.
Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm, support and patience. I hope to see you all in 2019!
Rest In Peace Bruce Brown.
Today we lost the creator of two of the best movies, on two of the best subjects in the world: surfing and motorbikes.
Watching those movies for the umpteenth time will never be the same. Bob Brown is the man who took the adventure furthest and will always be an inspiration!
Winner, Winner, Surfers Dinner! Finally managed to sort all the tickets and do the draw! Super stoked to announce that Tyronne has won a full trip for 2018! He’ll be getting a message from me ASAP and see when he will be joining us. Thanks everyone for being there during Big Twin, an amazing show with awesome people! Keep an eye on the Instagram and FB as there might be some other prizes coming up at the end of the year!
There is a winning needle in this stack of needles, just have to find it. To be sure I don’t leave anyone out, I’m going to go over all the tickets tonight. The move threw a whole bag of wrenches in this well oiled machine. Sorry for the delay, thanks for your patience!
No downsides with upsides. The downside is I will have to postpone the draw one day, because I forgot to pack the tickets when I moved house. The upside is having finally moved house, which was drawn out over the last two weeks. Thanks everyone for their patience, I’m back on the edit and will hopefully post a short clip tonight (if the render holds up..)
Riding into the unknown. Tomorrow we will have the draw for the Big Twin Show contest. Let’s who we can surprise with an early Christmas present!
The Picos de Europa lets you fall from one awe-inspiring view into the next. This is the view on the CA-281, which is a 2 hour ride and I saw three cars in those 2 hours. Come and join us next year on empty roads and beautiful beaches.
I’d like you to meet our newest addition: a VW Crafter. This will be the transport on location, to bring the boards to the beach and pick up stranded bikes if possible. This way, you can ride without any worries and really enjoy the roads.
Last day, biggest day at Big Twin. The weather is great, so get out there and ride over! We’re giving away another trip today, so it’ll be a win-win.
Day two of Big Twin! The videos finally work and are set up! See you there.
Doing last nights’ edit again. Something went sideways in the render or export, so it wouldn’t play properly...fortunately I kept all the markers! 6 hours and a 180GB of 4K footage that needs to be edited. Careful what you wish for....
All set and ready for Big Twin! Been a hectic few days to get it all sorted, but thankfully got it all done!
Hump day in Cantabria. Hills as far as the eye can see. Working on the edit, so keep an eye out for it!
My trusty DRZ took me all around the Picos de Europa, with my Barrage keeping all my essentials safe and captured everything on my brand new Hero5 Session. Are you joining me next year?
Some more amazing views from Cantabria! Looking out over the foothills of the Picos de Europa. I shot so much footage in three days, I ran out of hard drive space. Keep an eye out for the edit coming out soon!
Run for the hills, so you can ride all day long!
Asturias doing what it does best: mountains, twisty roads and colorful houses. See what I can find today!
If you join us on a trip to Cantabria and Asturias, you can see this and many other beautiful sights, along empty roads. If the mountains ever get old, you can always ride to the beach for a surf lesson. We provide everything, including bike transport and surf lessons. All you have to do is decide what to do.
Visit www.ridesandtides.com for more information and check out our Instagram on for more shots of the Picos. Video’s coming very soon!
Still trying the wrap my head around Cantabria and the Picos de Europa. They don’t seem to understand the concept of a straight road and I love it.
The view after a 2 hour ride through the Picos de Europa. Amazing road to ride and the view makes it even better!
Finally able to scout some locations on the bike! These are the foothills of the Picos de Europa and the roads are beyond amazing! Rode into the Picos today and its something you have to see. Videos will be uploaded in the coming days. I brought two with me to capture everything, while my trusty Barrage pack pack easily fits all the essentials for a great day trip!
The devil is in the details: lining up oil passages.
Didn’t check when I first put this engine together and ended up taking it apart to check. Happy I did because it wasn’t in line and would’ve destroyed the engine in the first 5 minutes.
A split decision to split the cases. Wasn’t sure wether or not I installed a slide bearing right. Turns out, I didn’t...
Oil path didn’t line up, so the gear would’ve welded itself to the shaft. Huge pain but worth it to save the engine!
Top half is off, time to split the cases!
Take 2 on La Heroìna’s engine, a 1979 CB750F2 SOHC. Already rebuild it, but it has some issues in the gearbox.
