Bridge 222 is a steel drawbridge over Kloveniersburgwal before Staalstraat. In 1895, the city council wanted to replace the existing bridge with a fixed one, but the steam shipping services owners that loaded and unloaded on the Kloveniersburgwal objected.
The old bridge was replaced by a movable drawbridge, widened by one meter in 1955 and fitted with an aluminium road surface, making it the first permanent bridge in the Netherlands and the seventh in the world.
