Speaking Truth to Power remains a crucial role of the poet and artist to resist.

This night is a first edition of speaking truth to power, where powerful words & music are shared to amplify voices of the oppressed, _through the art of poetry.

Hosted by Shaka, this edition is dedicated to embrace the spirit of resistance against oppression and the liberation of the human spirit, in solidarity with the people in Palestine.

Darkmatter .collective x Black Heritage Tours Amsterdam Zuid Wandeling
Op zaterdag 29 juni organiseert DARKMATTER Collective in samenwerking met Black Heritage Tours een wandeling door Amsterdam Zuid waarin zij in de koloniale geschiedenis van Amsterdam Zuid zullen duiken.

Historicus Annemarie de Wildt van Black Heritage Tours/Mapping Slavery Amsterdam en beeldhouwer Nelson Carrilho, maker van onder andere het beeld “Mama Baranka” in het Vondelpark, zullen een rondleiding geven in het Vondelpark. Ze vertellen over de koloniale aspecten van het Vondelpark, de beelden en over zwarte geschiedenissen verbonden aan het park.

LET OP! De wandeling zal in het Nederlands gegeven worden.

Praktische Informatie:

De wandeling is op 29 juni om 16.30 uur en duurt ongeveer 1,5 uur. Verzamelen bij het hek aan de voorkant van het Vondelpark (zijde Stadhouderskade) en eindigen de wandeling bij voor een drankje!

Hosna Safa (she/her) is always trying to find the right words that capture the feeling of being lost within a bicultural society.
Trijntje van de Wouw (they/them) is a poet and sociologist. They write prosaic poetry about abrasive themes, with all the ingredients for a good amount of self-reflection.

DALÌ (she/her), born in 2001 in the Netherlands, is an emerging artist known for her captivating vocals and poignant writing.

Kevin- Ahn Kwan Soo - Groen .magician ( he/him) is a behavioural change expert and spoken word artist who doesn’t shy away from exploring the uncomfortable.

Niek (she/her) is a poet, spoken word artist, and host.
Through words, she creates structure in chaos, with a generous dose of self-mockery.

Happy Mother’s day!
What a better way to celebrate motherhood with a night of jazz & poetry.
The reality of motherhood points right to the heart of what it is to be human—if we have eyes to see. So let’s touch upon its many dimensions. For the want_to_be_mothers, the grandmothers, the new mothers, the long time mothers, the never able to become mothers, the biological mothers, the stepmothers, the don’t want to become mothers, the foster-mothers, the forgotten mothers, and the mothers that passed away.

This night is hosted by .poetry and joint by poets Andrea Zapiain and Giacomo Boffi telling their perspectives on motherhood.
And live music by musicians : Tez, Teun and Justin .
Initiator of Labyrinth, makes you fantastic cocktails/mocktails and prepares you African Caribbean dishes. A perfect night out!
