Yesterday the sad news reached us that our former audio teacher Tom Pearce has passed away.

Tom was a renowned audio engineer who worked with artists like Elton John, George Harrison, and many more. He also taught at SAE Amsterdam and several other SAEs in Europe for over a decade.

In that time he inspired many of our students and staff. Tom’s stories about working in the industry were so interesting and entertaining that it was always a pleasure having a chat with him.
Tom will be remembered and missed dearly by the people he taught and worked with.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, wishing them strength in this difficult time.

We are thankful to have had Tom in our lives.🤍

🌟 Presenting the incredible work of our alumna Isabelle Nelson! 🎬✨ Her short film, “Nexus,” has garnered multiple awards including Best Music and Dance at the Short Film Factory Festival, Best Dance Short at the Vesuvius International Film Festival, and has been a semi-finalist at both the Berlin Shorts Festival and the New Orleans Film Festival, among others.

“Nexus” tells the journey of two individuals connected through the symbolism of a rope—intertwined and interwoven in their paths, playing on the edges of bo***ge and freedom. The film beautifully captures aspects of control, transgression, submission, and surrender, highlighting both visible outer transformations and private inner ones.

The soundtrack features traditional Māori instrumentals known as Taonga pūoro, while the rope serves as a connection to ancestors. The custom-made costumes, with 3D printed elements, represent variousy emotional states and provide a protective cocoon for the dancers. Inspired by Japanese Sh***ri techniques, the rope imagery suggests bonds of connection and bo***ge.

Set in a vast industrial space symbolizing loneliness and seclusion, the dancers’ personal space is constantly encroached upon, prompting an urge to break free.

🎬 Behind the scenes moments for “Pigeon Season,” the latest short film by Katarzyna Siewarga, one of our talented Film Production Bachelor students! 🕊️✨ It is incredible to see the excellent job they’ve done in designing the set.

Our students got the chance to get a tour of mesmerising new office in Amsterdam! 🎙️🌟

This was an incredible opportunity for our music business, audio production, and electronic music students to understand the workflow of a major label and expand their network.

🍿Last week, we rolled out the red carpet for our 'Student Movie Night'.

First-year Film Production Bachelor students showcased their latest short movies to the entire school at the stage area.

The shorts were visually and technically related to a chosen era or style discussed in their Film History lessons. 🎥

Our film production bachelor students recreate various iconic movie shots to understand the different lighting techniques used in them.

🎙️Exciting day in Studio 1! Yesterday we had the incredible recording with our talented Audio and Film Production students. We love to see students from different disciplines collaborating with each other 🎬

🎚️🎧Last Friday we hosted a writing camp at SAE, organized by one of our electronic music certificate students and singer songwriter .malou.

We spent the day with some of the most talented producers and up and coming artists in the electronic music scene.
