BC Apollo VSE1

Couple of years ago the club pronounced (and informed the players) the intention to have VSE1 played in the W(oman)B(asketball)L(eague).

Nowadays, a few years later the intention to play in the WBL is more alive as ever.

In the meanwhile the VSE1 promoted from 2nd division to 1st division to Promotion division and even reached the playoff final last season.

With a new (WBL experienced) coach/trainer and around 5/6x new players, the next step ... preparing for WBL ... has started last week and hopefully in season 2025-2026, WBL participation is a fact.

But .... without sponsors the next step will almost be impossible ..... 😟.

Wij zijn verheugd te kunnen delen dat Jorrick Creyghton de nieuwe headcoach zal worden van de Dames 1 PROMO.
Jorrick is geen onbekende, hij coachte van 2014 tot 2018 ook al bij BC Apollo.
Daarna heeft hij mooie coach jobs gehad bij onder andere BAL, ZZ Leiden en CTO. Met Jorrick is Apollo weer een coach rijker met een grote hoeveelheid ervaring. WELKOM JORRICK!

Season 2023-2024 officially ended last week with playing the promo final.
Excellent season (my opinion 😊):
- 3rd place in promotion division and qualified for play-offs
- reaching final in play-offs
- reaching quarter finals in the Dutch cup

Preparations for the next season will start soon (I guess).
As usual there will be changes every year in the line-up of the team.
Who will stay, who will go, who will be kicked-out (I mean replaced) etc. ect.

We wish 'De Dames' who will continue this summer season playing 3x3 a lot of fun and success 👍.

180524: BC Apollo VSE1 - CBV Binnenland VSE2, 53-67 118 new items added to shared album

'De Dames' lost the Promo Division playoffs final game against CBV Binnenland.

A pity and dissapointment ofcourse but one hour after the defeat 'De Dames' recovered and memorize that they had an excellent season while sipping a beer/wine/cocktail until the sunrise early sunday morning😄.

Everyone who predicted at the start of the season that 'De Dames' would end on position 3 in the regular competition and will play the final would have been send to a mental hospital for sure.

But as a newby team in the promo, 'De Dames' did it and we (friends, family, ex-husbands, kids, Apollo club, etc.) are all very proud of these results and successes despite the loss in the final.

Looking at the final, CBV Binnenland was just a little bit better, especially in shooting and using their length/power in the bucket.
So victory deserved.

The Finals 2024 | Dames Promotiedivisie | BC Apollo Amsterdam vs CBV Binnenland

'De Dames' had to travel to (EBBC) Den Bosch for a midweek semifinal game in the promo division.
The previous 2x games (this season and last season) in Sporthal Zuid in Den Bosch got lost: 98-58 & 86-41.

Reason for 'De Dames' to perform a little bit better than a huge +/- 40 points defeat.
The 'home' game in the semifinal was easily won (84-28) against an incomplete EBBC team.

This evening, 'De Dames' played a good game but lost the game in my opinion unnecessary with 70-68.

Noted: a whopping 29 points (including 6x 3-pointers) for Jip. Not unusual but anyway ... 😉.

Funny(?): every action of Lisa ended in a Personal Fault. If Lisa broke the record of quickest 5x P's and out of the game is unknown 😁.

Surprise: 3x 3-pointers (100% score) by Mies ☺️.

Remarkable: starting in Q4 the coach decided surprisingly to experiment with the line-up. Experiment (as expected) failed completely and a 10 point advantage was turned quickly around in a 5 point defeat, a loss of the quarter and in the end a loss of the game.😨.

Saturday the promo division final against CBV Binnenland in Almere. 'De Dames' are ready !!!

VSE 1 PROMO Dames hebben de Finals gehaald! Game 2 van de semi’s werd helaas verloren met 2 punten maar door de ruime winst in game 1 plaatsen de dames zich alsnog voor de NBB Finals in Almere aanstaande zaterdag! dank voor een mooie semi finals🙏🏽
Tegenstander zaterdagavond zal Dames 2 zijn.
Wij zijn supertrots op alle speelsters en coach 🙌🔥 🏀

First semi final game resulted in a big win for 'De Dames'. Opponent EBBC Den Bosch did not had the availability of all players due to a teamtrip to somewhere.

'De Dames' were missing Julianne and Romi but were still too strong for EBBC this game.

It was already expected that the return game in the quarter final would not be an easy task and could develop into a real basketball thriller.

Previous (1st division) season 'De Dames' lost in the semi final from BC Utrecht Cangeroes VSE2 (second team) and no way 'De Dames' want to reproduce/witness this kind of nightmare scenario again 😄.

Last week a good win in Utrecht with a 13 points gap. According Gaby no problem to qualify for the semi final, 13 points would be sufficient for sure so she could go relaxed on holiday 🏝.

In the first half (Q1/Q2) 'De Dames' took the lead with 7 points. Not a good half, lots of missed shots and airballs and too much (stupid) turnovers. But luckily BCU acting exactly the same 🤣.

'De Dames' started Q3 with a (13+7) 20 points lead but analyzing Q1/Q2 during halftime 'De Dames starting to get nervous, BCU defense got more and more grip on the offensive attempts from our players and scoring was almost impossible. BCU got in a flow and the lead of 20 points diminished quickly to 5 (!!!) points half-a-way Q4.

'De Dames' as usually keep on fighting and (almost) never give up and were able to increase the gap again to 11 points. All BCA supporters sighed frequently and shake their heads saying 'pffffff ... nou ... nou'.

Quarter standings: 9-8, 17-11, 5-16, 16-14.

Despite the loss of this game, a very happy and relieved 'De Dames' team that reached the goal (final four) set in the beginning of the season.

EBBC Den Bosch will be the opponent in the semi final. EBBC is the only team that beat 'De Dames' twice in the regular competition.
