As you are aware Dorothys is one of the last
fulltime DragShows bars left in the Netherlands.
One venue is currently having a refit due to a fire,
and others are no longer concentrating on just Drag.

Drag is spreading across many sectors these days
and the old school DragBars are becoming the past with
no other venue opening in NL (based on our research)

Dorothy's does not want to disappear as one of the
last venues, and wants to continue flying its Drag
Credentials. This is the start of 2024 and we want
to build a new contacts list for new shows/events
and city events for 2024 and futher. With this we
can try to keep on with the regular shows, and
showing Drag Talent from across NL and Europe.

Wie wordt 'PRIDE QUEEN GRONINGEN '23?'

Vrijdagavond 18 augustus wordt wederom gestreden op het podium in The Social Hub Groningen voor de titel! In drie spannende rondes vol lipsyncs, dancebreaks en shenanigans wordt bepaald wie de absolute Drag Queen van Groningen is.
Onder begeleiding van host Anastasia Von Beaverhausen worden de queens stuks voor stuk aan bod gebracht en voorzien van jurycommentaar. Onze driekoppige jury én het publiek stemmen op het eind van de avond wie de winnaar wordt.

Tijdens het spannende laatste uur van de verkiezing wordt het publiek getrakteerd op een wervelende showcase van Dorothys DragBar Groningen!

October is Drag events and Halloween costume fancy dress

We were recently appraised of an incident near the bar of homophobic insults hurled at people from passing cyclists. Of course, we are dismayed that this should happen in a normally-tolerant city such as Groningen. Dorothy’s is a safe haven for all, and we want to keep it that way. To maintain this, we would like any incidents like this to be raised to our attention at the time.
Actually, we first knew about it when a blogger who witnessed this from outside the bar mentioned it on Facebook, tagging Dorothy’s. He then went on to write an article about it on the Sikkom.nl website. Although we laud the intention of speaking out and not letting behaviour like this rest, it’s a shame that we were not originally approached for a comment, since the bar was named and linked in the article. To be fair to Sikkom though – they have since added the response we put on Facebook to the original post.
We will always, as far as we can within the bar and within our control, make Dorothy’s a safe place. We pledge to act if any incident like this happens within that circle of our influence. Unfortunately, we as individuals cannot control the outside world, but hopefully as part of a wider community this can eventually be achieved by everyone – including the media – working together
