Disappointment and setbacks are part of life. A failing grade for an exam, a broken relationship, or rejection after a job application. Sometimes it is very concrete (your laptop breaks down) and sometimes it is less tangible (you had expected more from your student days). Sometimes the impact is small (the concert you were looking forward to got canceled), sometimes big (your parents decide to split up). Setbacks are inevitable in life. Dear Ubbo Emmians, We are excited to announce to you that the Lustrum Committee is getting back together again to organise the last events! The 17th Ubbo Emmy Awards will take place on the 25th of May. This day includes the Reunist Drink and the Gala. Then, on the 28th we will close out our 17th lustrum with The Parent Trap, which is of course the parents day. More information regarding these events will be shared with further notice, but for now, we hope you are as excited as we are! Lots of love from the Lustrum Committee

Concentration optimization: from online to on site (and back again…) When the summer passed and the corona figures improved, the world opened up again. Students found themselves in crowded lecture halls, busy libraries, full terasses and lively night lives. A major increase in daily stimuli. Lots and lots of stimuli! How on earth do you keep your attention on the lecture instead of all those people around you? How did this ever work out and how can you improve? However while approaching the winter, measures have been increased in line with the Corona figures. Many courses have to switch back to online education. And soon this will have to be done the other way around. What is the best way to deal with this switches in order to maintain concentration? Dearest Ubbo Emmians, We hoped you have enjoyed your 17 nights to shine! The lustrum was more day than night, we admit. However, we enjoyed it greatly. And the best part is yet to come! How amazing is that? Parents’ day and the gala are postponed and in due time we will update you on where, when and how. For now, we want to thank you who participated in Ubbo’s lustrum and wish you the best December month with close friends and family. Thank you! **Board applications are only open to members who master the Dutch language.** Today, the last interview comes online, namely that of the Commissioner of Public Relations Jordi Hutten. He tells us what you do as PR and what it is like to be on the board. From Thursday onwards the board will take over Ubbo's Instagram and Facebook story one by one to give you an insight in their work.
