What better thing to do after the hungover of Kinsday, Sunday evening than settle in pillows and listen to music and stories?
Come meet with new storytellers and musicians
Hope to see you there!
Many people talk about needing to rewrite old folk and fairy tales because they are so out-dated and perpetuate problematic stereotypes, like: men do the monster-slaying and women wait around helplessly hoping to be saved.
But here's the thing, we don't need to rewrite old tales, we can also choose to tell different ones. There are plenty of traditional stories out there where women do the monster-slaying for example.
So for International Women's Day, let's share more of these stories!
Folktales about women who slay monsters (International Women's Day) It has become tradition on the blog to post a collection of folktales for International Women's Day. I've had a different theme every year: ...
The Little Pillow Society - learn the art of storytelling
Maybe you already have a story, but want to know how it lands with others before sharing it widely.
- It could be that you're still too shy and want to feel more comfortable in front of strangers before opening your mouth.
- Or maybe you don't feel ready to do anything yet, but do want to be around storytellers and learn from them until you are ready.
Whatever the case, if you want to tell stories someday then the Little Pillow Society is for you.

The Imaginal Foundation is looking for a new Supervisory Board member. Imaginal supports performing artists and projects who's work broadens perspectives. Like the Pillow Society events.
Time investment is approx. 2 to 4 hours a month. Your main job would be to check that Xina (as director and who you know as initiator and host of the Pillow Society) is doing their job as they should. And give whatever input you have to help develop and support the foundation. Never been on a non-profit board before? The other board members are happy to support you and help you learn the ropes.
Interested or curious? Check out the link below or send Xina Mercken a DM more info. And please help spread the word and let others know we're looking too.
