Latte art workshop 🫰

After many requests, I've decided to let you guys play on my cherished Synesso Hydra coffee machine 🫢

Wednesday 30th October, I'll be personally running a latte art workshop to share some of my passion for good, hot, micro-foam coffees.

Whether you're looking to improve your cup at home, or upskill as a barista in the horeca industry, all levels welcome and no experience necessary 😉 After nearly 16 years making cappuccinos I can confidently say that you'll be creating hearts on every cup after our session.

We'll also throw in a bag of delicious Rum Baba beans to take home and enjoy.. because we're lief like that.

Lief family member loses her house in fire 💔

We are completely heartbroken to learn that Marta has lost the house that her and her partner spent the last 10 months building together in Portugal, in an out of control wildfire. Luckily, they were evacuated in time and were not injured, but they have lost everything in the flames- including the chocolate-making equipment that provided their livelihood.

Some of you may remember the gorgeous, passionate red head making pastries in our Lief kitchen in 2023. I will always remember the way she dedicated herself to her work, stayed overtime with me to bake, and the hours we spent together creating the recipes for all of your favourite Lief baked goods and cakes. The cheesecake took us about 10 tries! Marta has the biggest heart in the world, and much of Lief's success is due to her support and love for her craft.

Building their own self-sufficient home in Portugal was Marta's dream, and I found it so inspiring that she was willing to make it happen with her own hands. When she left the Netherlands almost a year ago to start building, we all gave her big hugs with teary eyes.

Now I am teary-eyed again for a different reason writing this. 💔 I imagine most people would give up, but that is not Marta. She is a superwoman, and determined to rebuild from scratch.

As always, we need our community to stand by us in hard times. From now until the end of October, Café Lief will donate 1 euro from every cake sold to help Marta get back on her feet, and if you are able, we ask you to open your hearts (and wallets) in any way you can to support our friend in need. Kids' Restaurant at Lief

After taking a break over summer, we are very happy to announce our next edition of Kids' Restaurant afternoons at Lief 🥳

Beginning in September, we will join hands with Haarlem's little chefs on every odd Monday. Over the course of 4 weeks, we are going to create some food magic and celebrate delicious veggies while we do it! Our class size will be very small to allow lots of time with each child in their cooking journey.

Classes begin at 16.00 and finish at 18.00. At 18.00 we invite parents to come and sit in our private restaurant just for you and your chefs. Here you can spend quality time with your child, and enjoy the meal prepared together. Adorable core memories guaranteed :) Then the flavour adventure concludes around 19.00 with colourful picture-based kids' recipes to take home and make again and again!

The classes are available for children 7+, in 4 week blocks at a price of 149 euro per child, with discounts available for multiple blocks and siblings. Aprons, chef hats, snacks, dinners, and take-home recipes included. We offer a taster trial class of 25 euro for your first time. Link in bio 💚

Vegan cooking classes at Lief 🍽

We cook together on the first Tuesday & Thursday of each month!

When we first began our cooking classes in February, Sami and I had no idea what to expect. What a pleasure it has been to meet, cook with, and get to know such a wonderful group of humans. Each and every person that has stepped into our kitchen is now part of our extended Lief family and community, and it's been so much fun- with belly laughs all around.

Because we love it so much, we have decided to offer a second class beginning in September! There are still a couple of spots open, so if you'd like to join us in celebrating everything plant-based and delicious.. we would love you to join us.
