Café IF

Currently the building is closed, so all the students are guided online by the practical instructors. The second year students are working on the development of a new concept. This week they presented their marketing ideas for this concept. Looks amazing right? What do you think?

You miss the Carrotcake, we miss you!! But we are going to make your life more fun, with our carrotcake recipe:

Ingredients:
• 260 gr flour
• 10 gr baking soda
• 5 gr salt
• 20 gr cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon speculaas spices
• 295 ml coconut oil melted
• 150 gr cane sugar
• 150 gr brown sugar
• 1 vanilla bean
• 4 eggs
• 300 gr grated carrot
• 125 gr chopped walnuts
• 65 gr pineapple cubes (frozen)

Frosting layer:
• 250 gr cream cheese
• 125 gr powder sugar
• 3 spoons of lemon juice

Materials:
• Scale
• Measuring (table)spoon
• Kitchen-aid Mixer
• Spatula
• Knife
• Round baking form (+/- 24/26 cm)
• Baking paper

Steps to bake:
1. Grease the baking form with a very thin layer of coconut oil and sprinkle a bit of flour over the form. Pick up the form and tilt it about, allowing the flour to distribute and cover the entire interior of the baking form. Invert the pan over a sink and tap it gently with your hand to remove any excess flour.
2. In the bowl mix together oil, eggs and sugars
3. Add the remaining dry ingredients (flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, speculaas spices and vanilla). Mix on slow-speed until just combined, scraping down the pan at least once to be sure that everything is well mixed.
4. Then add the grated carrots, walnuts and pineapple cubes, and stir by hand until combined.
5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking form. Then bake for 35 - 45 minutes for 175 degrees or until a toothpick/knife inserted in the middle of the cakes comes out clean.
6. Mix the cream cheese, the powder sugar and lemon juice until a smooth frosting. Add it to the cooled down cake.

Mᥱᥱt Bᥱᥣᥣᥲ.. She is a DBE student which means she is using her theoretical knowledge to work on a challenge we Experience in Café IF. Her challenge is to create a higher awareness of changing menus according to seasons. She is holding a Asian Melt which is the newest addition to our menu.

We changes our toasts menu and added these two melts. The Dutch Melt with old cheese, spinach & tomato tapenade and the Mediteranean Melt with hummus, rucola and roasted bell peppers (which is 100% animal friendly / vegan).

From 11.00 till 14.00 we will serve you our freshly roasted chicken saté and vegetarian saté of tempeh.

We are working on changing the recipes of lots of pastries made in Martins kitchen, to make them even more delicious, and vegan when possible!

Bij de kleinere cafetaria op Stenden kun je salades en tosti’s halen. Blijk ik nu net zin te hebben in een tosti. Eenmaal aan de balie besloot ik voor twee te gaan, dit is nu ik dit typ wel een minder goed idee gebleken. De tosti die je ziet heet de Double B en kost je drie euro. Het turkse brood is belegd met de killercombi brie & bacon en wat gecarameliseerde ui. De thering wat is dit smullen geblazen. Als je nog eens in de buurt bent van het rengerspark ofzo raad ik je deze spot aan. Eet dit ook. @ NHL Stenden

Today we would like to introduce our supplier "Udea" to you. Udea is a family company who imports and exports biological products. By producing biological products the producer takes into account human, animal and nature. Café-If uses this products in the salad bar and by producing toasts and smoothies. Udea delivers on a daily base to guarantee fresh and natural vegetables.
