Zeitgeist Festival

Its a tight squeeze fitting all those names on a square instead of a poster! 16 acts total (that’s 2 more than last year’s edition!) will ripple and pound in between and outside the post punk, wave, electronic and noise genres. We’re proud to stand at the crib of new, ground breaking, potential earth shattering and truly “Zeitgeist” acts. ⚡️

No one combines post punk, house, gabber and tekno together as well as . A fast bass, drum riff and that perfect screeching guitar tone is all this young fem-punk duo from The Hague need. You might have gotten the chance to see them live at Valkhof Festival earlier this year and we’re so excited that we get to see their eccentric live performance again at Zeitgeist!

exists of Parisian duo Neysa and Emile. Growling, howling and rolling machines paint a lo-fi esq landscape. Yet perfectly danceable, their unique mix of electronic synth-pop is pleasantly sultry, dark but also sensual and playful.

Earlier this year they released their album “When all you want to do is be the fire part of fire”, which is actually quite a lovely way to describe their music.

First impressions are important and have proved that they’re currently among some of the best our little country has to offer. Their show at .nl at the beginning of this year was breathtaking.

What started in 2021 has grown into something that leaves us wanting more and more and more. Their songs will make you want to kick down a wall and caress is softly and the same time. Expect a fluctuating mix between angular post-punk, magnificent post-rock and fast-paced garage.

We’re enjoying the last few days of sun and know that December will be cold, but Australian band will surely bring some warmth over with their dreamy guitar pop. Songs about friendship, admitting love and overcoming sadness is just what we’ll need to drag us out of that seasonal depression. Their album ‘Oyster Cuts’ is about a month old and has influences from 80’s Australian and 90’s American alternative indie.

There’s a musical revival on the horizon: trip-hop, Brit pop and indie sleaze are slowly making their return. Those first two genres combined with a grunge and folk are what defines ’s(Belcourt) music.

Inspired by some of the greats (Portishead, Underworld and Massive Attack) their music will transport you to a new world where moody electronics and an almost nostalgic post-punk guitar sound mix like raindrops in the ocean. Themes of love, q***rness and anxiety pass us by in Belcourt’s unique and extremely powerful anthems.

Tiberius B is extremely talented and it shows in every release they so graciously share with us. We’re honoured to have them join the Zeitgeist line-up! 💚

Raw, restless and deliciously underground. ‘s experimental electronic punk laced with intense hiphop will surely get crowds moving. She delivers her music with an edge and explores themes of the q***r & black experience, council house living and fluctuating mental health.

Not only musically, but also visually she’s a force to be reckoned with. She has directed videos for Nia Archives, Obongjayar, and Cruel Santino. To say we’re excited to witness TaliaBle both musically and visually is an understatement!

Constructed vs deconstructed experimental live shows, leaving audiences speechless and breathless. Armed with vocals, synths and live percussion they take inspiration from genres such as new wave, rave, punk, industrial and techno. sounds like a right party and we’re excited to dance with them.

is no stranger to the Dutch crowd it seems! We’ve had tons of requests to get them on for a edition of Zeitgeist. And how could we not? Naming a song after our festival is a sure way to get our attention…

All joking aside, we’re excited to see how Maruja will enshroud Doornroosje in a dark and moody atmosphere. Their explosive and intense blend of jazz, postpunk and art rock is known to enchant entire crowds. 🔮

With the announcement of the indefinite hiatus of our favourite jazz influenced noise/math rock band, a black midi shaped hole in our hearts quickly got filled with frontman Geordie Greep’s solo career. The musical DNA from black midi is being jabbed straight into a new, creative vein, loaded with jazz, funk and soul.

Especially with the release of ‘Holy Holy’ just last week we're being introduced to a new theatrical, Broadway-esq, dance p***y and general warm feeling. Theatre kids rejoice! We're immensely excited for the release of his album 'The New Sound’ and even more excited to see the Greepster himself at Zeitgeist! 🍽

They might be one of the most vital new voices in alternative music, having gone from being darlings of the DIY underground to one of the UK’s most thrilling bands in the space of less than a year.

Porridge Radio's barbed wit, lacerating intensity and potent blend of art-rock, indie-pop and post-punk sounds like little else around. Soft yet brutally hard songs.

Sorry we were sleeping off our hangovers from the festival season...

We're having a lot of fun discovering new acts and seeing old friends at Valkhof Festival this week!

Yesterday we were taken back to 2022 with the return of the incredible O.the.band and tomorrow our local heroes Kaboutertje Putlucht will tear down the Arc stage like they did at Zeitgeist last year.

We're excited to see the return of the iconic Bumble B. Boy to Doornroosje this Wednesday as they will be providing support for the just as iconic The Levellers! We're curious to see where their folk punk mixed with Bumble B. Boy's egg punk adjacent sound will take us. 🐝

The amazing SEXTILE graced us last year with their emotional and extremely danceable mix of electronic post-punk/new wave at Zeitgeist.

On 20.08.2024 they will return to Nijmegen at Merleyn! To say we're excited is an understatement. ⚡

Niet alleen wordt de muzikale honger gestild op Zeitgeist, de normale honger ook! Aanstaande zaterdag zijn onze eigen Kitchen Crew én aanwezig met de heerlijkste vega/vegan versnaperingen.

Roosje’s Kitchen Crew kan je vinden op de eerste etage met heerlijke broodjes tussen 16:30 - 22:00. De knakwortel favoriet van vorig jaar is ook weer van de partij!

Café de Plak staat voor je klaar bij de paarse zaal tussen 17:30 - 20:30 voor de grote trek met een vegan rendang of een Thaise kokos seitan curry. Beide geserveerd met rijst en een salade.

Het water loopt ons nu al in de mond! 🤤

Wie vorig jaar op Zeitgeist was kan zich goed herinneren. De Londense zangeres Jojo Orme brengt met het dystopische muzikale project Heartworms donkere, gothic post-punk met stuwende, repetitieve ritmes die geïnspireerd zijn op bands zoals Kraftwerk en Interpol. Vorig jaar speelden ze hun allereerste set het op Europese vasteland en sindsdien heeft de band niet stilgezeten. Begin dit jaar werd er nog een prachtige EP uitgebracht genaamd “A Comforting Notion”. We konden het niet laten om ze terug te vragen, dus wie dit vorig jaar heeft gemist willen we op het hart drukken dit deze editie echt niet te missen!

De eerste namen voor Zeitgeist 2023 zijn bekend: shame, Gilla Band, Wu-Lu, Lebanon Hanover en Heartworms zullen op zaterdag 2 december in Doornroosje komen spelen. Ook de ticketverkoop is vandaag gestart!
