The origins of Tambú can be traced back to the early 17th century, where a large number of African slaves arrived in Curaçao from Angola. The ritual was first associated with the Curaçao style of stick fighting called kokomakaku, where the Tambú referred to the rhythms played by the drummer (called a tamburero) on a single drum (also referred to as tambú). Since then, the performance has changed in congruence with the historical circumstances of the Curaçao island.

Tambu can refer to the small drum on which the music is played, the dance that accompanies the music, or the event where the music and dance take place. In modern tambu, the lyrics are usually in the Papiamento language and are sung along with a chapi (hoe), the tambu drum and sometimes other singers, while the audience claps to the rhythm. The tambu rhythm is complicated and is passed down orally from generation to generation. Tambu consists of two beats; sla habri and sla será, the open and closed beat respectively. These beats alternate to create a musical dialogue. The lead vocalists are known for their skilful wordplay when delivering the performance's message. Additionally, there are two types of tambu music; telele, which is a long, slow rising and falling melody, and tambu itself, which is faster paced and shorter in duration.

Jason Jordan Thode well known as DJ JAY T started Djing as a hobby back in 2006, playing in private parties between 2006 and 2007.

In 2008 JAY T had an opportunity to play in “Society Club” permanently.
The next year (2009), JAY T had a chance to be a permanent DJ in another Nightclub “Club Hollywood”.

Between 2009 and 2010 doors was opening for JAY T and decided to take it to another level, from a hobby to a job and had a full time to dedicate his time in the world of Djing

November 2010 88Rockorsou(88.3fm) offered JAY T as a Radio Host for the program called the “Afternoon Drive” Curaçao.

After he was offered to be a Radio Host and take his DJ career for a full time job, between 2010 and 2014 his name was spreading around in Curaçao, Bonaire & Holland for the energy and love he has for Music.

During his career he was part of different private parties, public parties, local festivals such as:

• FullMoon at Kokomo Beach (CUR)

May & June 2014 had the opportunity to represent Curaçao in Bonaire and in July 2014 won the price of most original “DJ/RADIO HOST” of the year 2013-2014.

Kevv. is an upcoming artist born on the island of Curaçao and is currently living in The Netherlands. His dad taught him to play piano when he was 5 years old and ever since he acquired an enormous love for music. To the point where he started teaching himself to play the guitar, bass guitar and even sing.

Even though Kevv.’s love for music started at an early age, it was when he moved to the Netherlands that he started chasing his dreams to become an Artist/Producer. He learned everything he knows about production, recording, Mix & Master through YouTube. Using the platform as his own personal classroom.

Kevv.’s songs are always clean because he wants everyone to be able to enjoy them, no matter the age. From the kids dancing on the playground to the elderly couple listening to them on the radio. This is also why his songs reflect not only on the good but also the bad parts of life. This is so everyone can relate to the music because they feel like they lived it before.

Currently Kevv. has his own production company “DiKuraçon Productions” through which he produces for a variety of clients. He is extremely happy that he chose to follow his biggest passion and hopes to inspire others to do so too. .
