Meet Aster, our new intern at Tanaruz Boats.

With a background in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, Aster brings valuable expertise to our company. After discovering her love for mechanical and structural engineering, she’s now focusing on fault detection systems for small-scale 3D printers. We’re excited to have her on board and look forward to seeing the impact of her work!

Let's get to know Aster!

❓Can you tell us a bit about your background and what you're studying?
At 17, I left Belgium to study Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft in the Netherlands. After completing my Bachelor’s, I wasn’t sure which Master’s programme to pursue, so I took a gap year to work with the Brunel Solar Team, Delft’s solar car team. During that year, I worked as a mechanical and structural engineer and discovered my passion for the field. This led me to choose a Master’s degree in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, specialising in Multi-Machine Engineering.

❓Why did you decide to join Tanaruz Boats?
I asked my supervisor if she knew of any companies where I could do my thesis, and she recommended Tanaruz Boats. I came to visit and was sold by the friendly, open atmosphere and the kind, hardworking people here.

❓What are you currently working on right now?
I'm developing a fault detection system for small-scale 3D printers using computer vision. This involves creating a machine learning model that can detect and identify specific errors during the printing process.

❓What are you hoping to achieve with your internship at Tanaruz Boats?
I aim to develop a system that can detect as many printing errors as possible. Although I'm working with small printers for research purposes, I hope Tanaruz will implement a similar fault detection system in their large printers to save material, energy, and valuable printing time. Additionally, I hope to bring positivity and enthusiasm to the company, as I believe in its vision and in everyone working here.

❓What aspect of Tanaruz Boats interests you the most?
On the technical side, I'm very interested in the 3D printing process itself and the structural aspects that come with it. It fascinates me that, with a relatively new technology, Tanaruz has achieved a sustainable, durable, and robust boat. On the company side, I'm equally impressed by how motivated everyone is, constantly pushing themselves and making significant progress.

Why did we choose recycled polymer and glass fibre for our boats?

As a participant in the luxury consumer market, we see value in prioritising future-proof decision making in the development of our product line. This is why we've decided to print our fleet from recycled polypropylene (rPP), sourced and processed in The Netherlands.

✅ Strength & Durability: Each hull is 20mm thick, making it sturdier than traditional polyester shells. Reinforced with glass fibre (GF) for extra rigidity, perfect for tough conditions.

✅ Outdoor-Ready: Our unique blend offers natural UV resistance, anti-bacterial properties to combat algae, and high durability against water and weather.

✅ Easy Maintenance: The high oil content in rPP prevents build-up, making cleaning effortless without the need for harsh anti-fouling coatings, which reduces both maintenance and environmental impact.

For the 39th edition of Northern Europe’s largest in-water boat show, Tanaruz Boats proudly showcased our newest fleet member, the OZARE 5. This is a special occasion for us because we are presenting our brand-new design Ozare 6.5 to the public for the first time. After a lot of hard work, we are now ready to showcase our latest design.
