Bye-bye salsiccia vuole parlare di cucina e di cancro, o idealmente di come la cucina possa aiutarci a condurre una vita “senza cancro”. Vuole dare un contributo a cio’ che si sa a riguardo, diffondendo informazione e ispirando – si spera – le persone, malate o non malate che siano, a prestare piu’ attenzione a cio’ che mangiano, senza rinunciare al gusto. Ma questo blog e’ soprattutto il mio modo
di reagire a “questa cosa” che mi e’ capitata. E’ il mio modo di continuare a combattere, giornalmente, nella convinzione che questo possa, in qualche modo, contribuire alla mia guarigione. Inoltre, al di sopra di tutto, e’ un modo per non dimenticare. In primo luogo – con un grande nodo nella gola – vi dico che non voglio che ci si dimentichi di me. Queste ricette e questi scritti potrebbero essere in effetti quello che ho da lasciare al mondo, alla mia famiglia e ai miei amici e ai miei figli in particolare. Cosi’ che, se il destino vorra’ che io non ci sia piu’ in un periodo relativamente breve, io abbia comunque lasciato qualche briciola dietro di me, qualche corta storia che i miei bimbi possano leggere quando saranno piu’ grandi, nella speranza che questi scritti li possano aiutare ad apprezzare la vita, oltre che il cibo. Non so se il mondo possa essere interessato a queste storie, ma se queste dovessero avere valore anche solo per le persone che mi sono piu’ vicine, per me ne vale gia’ la pena. Voglio continuare a ricordarmi ogni giorno di questa “avventura”. Cosi’ voglio vedere questo periodo che ho alle spalle, come la piu’ educativa delle mie avventure. Quella che mi ha fatto capire veramente quanto sia bella la vita e quanto sia importante ricordarselo sempre, ogni giorno. Quando avevo piu’ o meno 18 anni, vidi mia zia morire di cancro. La zia Angela, la mia cara zietta. Single fino a tarda eta’, bella, disinvolta, simpatica. Non ho un ricordo specifico di cosa facevamo insieme, ma se penso a lei mi si riscalda il cuore. Quando la vidi poco prima che morisse, scatto’ qualcosa in me. Era incredibile come lei riuscisse ad essere positiva e come pensasse sempre al futuro, sebbene fosse rilegata al suo letto gia’ da un po’ di tempo. “Quando poi sto bene...”, diceva. Rimasi colpita da come il continuare a vivere sia una sorta di riflesso naturale che abbiamo, nonostante tutto. E li’ capii come fossi fortunata, perche’, ok... i miei genitori si stavano separando e non era un gran periodo... ma AVEVO ANCORA LA MIA VITA, AVEVO LA VITA!! In quest’ottica la morte di mia zia aveva avuto un gran valore per la mia vita. Se e’ vero che le persone che ci hanno lasciato continuano a guardarci da lassu’, io so che la mia zietta mi ha guardato spesso nel corso della mia vita, ed era molto arrabbiata con me. Possibile che quella importantissima considerazione fatta in giovane eta’ fosse cosi’ semplice da dimenticare? Possibile che non riuscissi a reagire alla mia insoddisfazione per ritrovare la pace? Possibile che la mia insoddisfazione oscurasse tutte le belle cose e persone che riempivano la mia vita? Ora che mi e’ stato tolto un seno, non voglio dimenticare quelle piccole cellule che hanno messo a rischio la mia vita. E per quanto il mio piu’ grande desiderio sia quello di averle spazzate via tutte, ma proprio tutte, dal mio corpo, una comunque rimane. Quella cellulina che – virtuale o reale che sia – continuera’ ad accompagnare il resto della vita di qualsiasi persona che sia stata colpita dal cancro. Questo voglio dirle:
“ Se e’ vero che ci sei, cellulina, ti accettero’, dopotutto sei una mia creazione... ma ricordati che se tu continuerai a dormire, potremmo vivere ancora a lungo insieme! Se ti metterai a crescere, invece potrai proliferare, ma il tuo tempo sara’ corto perche’ la mia fine sara’ anche la tua fine..."
