Came for the race, stayed for the soup! 🏃‍♀️🥣🏁Today we joined the in Dordrecht with 5 runners in the half marathon, 6 in the 10K, and 4 in the 5K! The weather couldn’t have been better☀️ and after the race we warmed up with some soup from our coach Joris! Thanks to everyone who joined🫶🏻. Meet our trainer, Joris Wulfert! 🏃🏻
Joris has been with us as a dedicated trainer since 2018, but his journey with the Roadrunners goes back much further. He has been a member since 2007 and has served twice on the board💪🏻. Not only is Joris an experienced marathon runner, completing the marathon in under 3 hours, but he’s also known for participating in ultra runs, like 6-hour races and the 100 km besides that he is also still doing shorter races. Joris definitely knows what he’s talking about during Roadrunners training! 🤩

Next Sunday will be the second race of the month: !🏁🏃🏻🏆

For this one, we’re staying close to home and joining the It’s a very accessible 5km race in the Kralingse Bos. After the race, we’ll enjoy a nice breakfast together☕️🥐. More info is in the group chat!

Last but not least, we’re thrilled to introduce in our brand-new role: External Relations! She’ll be the key contact for all external partners looking to connect with Roadrunners. Robine, a 20-year-old criminology student at EUR, has already completed two marathons and her first triathlon!

For our famous race ranking, we need a race secretary! Who is a better fit than 3-time marathon finisher .de.vries ?! He is a 21-year-old econometrics student at the EUR. He will coordinate all the races of the month.

What is an association without a treasurer? For this important role, we have Abel on the board this year. Abel, 23, is originally from Amsterdam and hopes to graduate from his Watermanagement studies this year. Abel will be responsible for the financial side of Roadrunners 💸.

Next up is our secretary, Shannon! 22 years old and originally from Fryslân but she moved to Rotterdam a year ago to study at the Willem de Kooning Academy. She joined Roadrunners around the same time and after a year of being an active member, she decided to join her friends for a board year. What better position for her than secretary? Shannon is the main contact person for all our (new)members, so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to her. She also makes sure that everything runs smoothly within the Roadrunners organization and she handles our social media!

Have you ever wanted to train with Roadrunners or are you curious about what our association is all about? Then I have good news 🥳! On September 11th and 16th, we are organizing two open trainings. They are free, and you don’t need to sign up. Current members and the board will be there to answer your questions. So feel free to come, and remember that Roadrunners is a student running association for all levels! See you there! 🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️
