Get a sneak peek at our most vibrant home remodel yet! By creatively relocating the toilet and part of the kitchen into a sculptural central core, we opened up direct sightlines through the house—from the garden all the way to the street. A window integrated into the shelving adds a surprising and seamless connection between the living room and kitchen.
We had an amazing time collaborating with our bold and proactive clients on this fast-paced project. Joining mid-process, we used sketching, 3D modeling, and on-site design to bring it all together in a hands-on approach we hope to use more often!
Double Green House - on the north facing quay, these green houses form a nice light rectangle in the facade wall with a surprising brick and fence colour.
The horizontal windows in the frieze frame views on the river and the Rotterdam skyline like paintings and are a nod to similarly proportioned windows in the historic centre. The window composition gives the facade a clear plinth, middle and top within a singular material.
Spuifront is a collaboration between us, and . We took on the challenge to design a playful mix of six very different family homes and a 8 unit apartment building on key positions in the ensemble. The project is built by for .
Corner apartments - golden yellow balconies pop over the d**e from a slightly cantilevering volume on top of a plinth with double height homes. These corner apartments with protruding balconies react to site specific conditions, providing views and an light open corner.

Orange house - windows fan out on this row house that marks a bend in the block, subtly breaking the rigidity in the overall facade composition while still being symmetrical and staccato like the adjacent facades.
The blue fence and bright orange brick pillar spice up the entrance and add some complementary colour to the big windows.

Happy Kingsday! We love working with colour, here are some of our orange projects!
Waterfront Corner House - The compositions of our facades at the waterfront in Oud-Beijerland are designed to stand out from the rest through the use of deviant proportions, shapes and colours. We add a little punch to the whole on key positions in the ensemble, such as this playful waterfront corner house.
We used architectureal motives such as the displacement of windows and increased the height of our buildings by using pitched, stepped and , in this case, curved gables. Each building is a contemporary take on a specific quality of the existing buildings in the village.
We added a bold array of colourful brickwork and a variety of colours for windowframes and fencework, based on the industrial colourscheme of the former concrete factory on site.

We regarded the house, alley and patio as one integrally connected living space.
Three coloured thick gates with half arches and windows form the transitions between three different rooms – living room, kitchen and hall - and make the spaces separately experienceable.
The three narrowing gates form a series that provides exciting seethroughs and adds a layered character to the interior. The gates give access to the next room in the length of the house while the added windows in the side walls expand the view in the width.
The mirror at the back of the blue wardrobe arch reinforces this see-through effect and gives an endless appearance to the gates.

Excited to share our latest built project: Gatehouse. Gates and windows add spaciousness and light in this home remodel. We made the most of the stepped spatial sequence and depth of the plot by introducing a series of colourful gates in decreasing widths to organise the space in distinctive zones in between. The mirror in the last gate dramatises the see-through effect.

Highest point! We are excited to share one of our longest running and dear projects is being built by the great .
This wheelchair proof home is part of a row of 4 self build plots in Dordrecht. To keep the project in line with the budget and rising building costs, we took inspiration from the pragmatic 60’s architecture of the surrounding neighbourhood and gave it a contemporary twist.
Slabs of brickwork with a pattern of deepened and flat joints flank a ribbed wooden infill. The colourful front door, rainpipe and gutter add a touch of personality, in line with the simple but effective means of expression of the neighbourhood. The back facade will be completely wooden as a nice backdrop for the garden.
Realisation foreseen this summer.
Our Post-65 facade renovations in Rotterdam Noord are published in the annual report of the Committee for Spatial Quality and Cultural Heritage.
Works on our second building are almost completed, the plinth will be finished. The first and smallest building is already done. Scaffolding is rising on the third and largest complex at the Bergweg, works starting soon!
Together with 3 other architects, we designed 8 new facades with a familiar base and individual character.

Work has started on 4 all wooden rooftop extensions in Park16Hoven. Variations in facade depth give rhythm to the facade and add privacy without the need for high screens. A pergola connects all units in one gesture and provides built in shading. Realised by AVN Bouw.
The top layer is materialised the same as the base layer: two wooden buns with a double brick burger inbetween.
We love the 80s! The 1st and smallest of 3 façade renovations in Rotterdam Noord is (almost) done!
Embracing the original bold use of colour, we added a metallic touch and more clarity to the pallete and composition.
The new façades are thickened for extra insulation which is expressed by staggering the plates and adding vertical coloured seams, creating the texture and depth originally lacking with simple but effective means.
These complexes were designed by Passchier Vandensteen in 1985 as part of a larger group of 8 similar buildings scattered throughout Rotterdam Noord.
We were commissioned by and and worked closely together with the architects of the other 5 buildings (, .abacaxi and Laurens Boodt) to create new designs with our own personal character, while simultaneously keeping all 8 complexes together recognisable as a family, united by a light grey panelling and enhanced verticality. Realisation by Van Dillen.
