This is the 10th in the Yosh*torshi Ghost Series, a selection of rare Japanese whiskies from , a whisky enthusiast and author of Whisky Rising: The Definitive Guide to the Finest Whiskies and Distillers of Japan. Featuring from Yosh*toshi’s “New Forms of 36 ghosts”. Each bottle in the collection features a Yukiyo-e artwork from Yosh*toshi’s New Forms of 36 Ghosts.

This bottle with a limited edition of 129 bottles is a vatting of the Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries blended malt, which contains Chichibu and Hanyu, along with some peated Chichibu single malt, hence Double Distilleries+Peated. Bottled at cask strength in 2018.

I can see from my instagram you are thinking: “Why is a Taketsuru 12 Year old so rare?!”🤔

Because this is a prototype whisky from Nikka. This blended whisoybis a prototype of the Non Age Stated (NAS) Sherry Wood Finish, which is seenn much more often. It carries a label with the age statement '12 year old'. It is highly likely that the NAS Sherry Wood is in fact a 12 year old Sherry Wood, but that - because Nikka wanted to introduce their new NAS and put the spotlight on that - they removed the age-statement from the Sherry Wood Finish edition, so that some of the positive responses to that NAS Sherry Wood would 'rub off' on the new NAS (by association).
