While navigating through Cultural GPS we could also discuss how our young generation feels about the changing world around , screen time, real life friendships, parenting, decision making and so much more.

Being a teen in the fast-changing world is not exactly the smoothest ride. Cannot exactly discuss everything with parents either. How about exchanging thoughts with those in the same boat.

On Mar 3, we invite teenagers (12-19yrs) to share their point of view, questions and experience about things that matter to them. Good to hear other teenagers and discuss together, without the parents being there in the same room. Also, hear from a trained counsellor on some of these topics.

Of course.. interspersed with fun activities.

If you are a teenager living in Amstelveen, please inform your parents and register. If you are a parent to a teenager, talk to them and register.

Sometimes there are people around you , who will try to tell you how you are wrong in everything you do. They try to dump all their negativity on you. They could never make any statements; that make people happy and motivated. What we need to do in those situations? keep ourselves away from those people.
These people are everywhere- in your neighbourhood, in your working place, in your relationships, relatives, some are common in two or more situations. What do I do even if I try to avoid, they do still want and make their way towards me? The only answer is ignore, avoid and in some cases be blunt and tell it to them on their face.
Some people just can’t see you being happy in any situation. They wonder how this person in such a distress still smiling. They try to dig in to know what is keeping you happy and then they would say or act that will hurt you. What they do is their choice, how we respond should be our choice…
First thing - you ignore, secondly avoid or break all the contacts if possible even on calls, messages or social media and thirdly focus on what makes you happy. Our energy is as precious as oxygen. We can give life to all small joys in someone's life. We can seed the plant that grows for greater good.
People will say something ‘about everything’ you do- good or bad. Clients ask me how to be calm when somebody is insulting you all the time. How do I react? We need to understand that instead of reacting we need to respond. There is a lot of difference between reacting and responding. Reaction is immediate action or thought based on that particular -emotion or moment, response is always taking holistic view for the long run.
In some cases, if a person is telling you about the third person who is your friend/ colleague/ relative or neighbour the best way is to bring it face to face. For example- if friend A is saying to B (you) that C was saying this about you. Firstly, say ‘I do not believe it’. Secondly if you believe that’s even a possibility make sure to understand the context for which it was said or done. Thirdly you can immediately call or approach the person C and confront if that’s true in the presence of A. This might strain the relationship between you and A; but in the long run it will help to set boundaries. The person however close should understand that no nonsense is tolerated. You might lose friendship with A but this will make stronger bond with C. The things, people and success that are meant for you will be with you, no matter what.

Conducted our first session on womanhood - A journey from teenage till golden age with Dr. Manasi Sagdev Moharil.
The intension was to discuss the challenges and issues that a woman faces in different life phases. Together we could discuss the possibility of getting help for physical and mental health issues. Issues like body shaming, cultural identity, post partum depression, body changes and many more were discussed.
It is important to seek necessary help on mental , physical and emotional level. We would like to thank all the participants for their support and active participation.
The journey has begun....

Sometimes we need to make a choice..a choice that is perfect and should lead to good end. But while making choices do we already know what will be the end result? Many times it's the choice of the path we want to walk on or process we need to follow. Every step counts. Once you make up your mind , stay focused, stay calm, trust yourself and start walking. One day you will reach there for sure. Your family, friends, colleagues, neighbours are part of your dreams. Hold their hands and walk together, journey called life becomes wonderful. The destination you reach might not be the one you expected but it is planned for you. There is a reason for this, as this might be a start of new journey again.
