Now that we officially kicked off the extra long .ldn take-over, they took some art with them to make the stream whole.

Maria Sole Barzacchini is interested in the world of visual communication in the widest possible sense. She defines herself as an explorer of signs, textures and graphic elements in the organic landscape and beyond. In her work she always tries to create a stimulating visual environment by drawing on sources of inspiration such as politics, fashion, electronic music and the clubbing scene and other forms of contemporary cultural expression.

Zombies, Dinosaurs & other survivors
“I didn’t know date palms can be found out here.” Paul says to the man.

“Oh… These aren’t indigenous. They can’t survive without me…” he continues.

“Each one of these drinks every day the equivalent of five men…
Twenty date palms…
A hundred lives…”

{scene from the movie Dune}

How far are we willing to push the boundaries of technology to shape our environment?

This work is inspired by the stories of three ancient and (almost) extinct tree species - the Wollemi Pine, American Chestnut, and the Judean date palm - which have become dependent on humans for survival. Scientific methods such as cloning, genetic modification, and resurrection were needed to ensure these unique trees could live again. But are these really the same old trees, or have we inadvertently created a new species – a tree which is no longer free from human interference?
Taking this line of thinking to the extreme, the videos give a glimpse of a future where these trees have co-evolved together with their human counterparts into fully tree-human hybrids, with characteristics such as hair, bones, flesh, and even a heartbeat.

We have some fresh new art for the upcoming 4 weeks by .hoopr showcasing Marlow’s pyramid.

Maslow’s Pyramid is part of a series of visual experiments that aim to explore how the contemporary digital landscape colors and changes our notions of home and belonging, notions often grounded within nostalgia. An extension from Hooper’s previous work, Arcadia, FL, Maslow’s Pyramid continues the research and experiments previously conducted with bitmaps, methods of image compression, and AI generation to research the influence of current technology in the construction of nostalgia and our retrospective realities.

Eli Hooper (b. 2000) is a New Zealand born, Rotterdam based maker currently exploring the cross-pollination between media, mass popular culture, and the digitisation of nostalgia. While he works primarily in photography, his practice branches out into a whole range of other media, from audio-visual experiments to sculptural endeavors, in order to develop a visual language and red thread that lines his being. Largely founded on image and sound-based research, Eli is using both practical and non-conventional printing, recording, and display methods to challenge the way we consider not only the image pool, but the mass-archiving and consumption of media around us.

New year, new art! Tune in, in less then an hour to get captivated by the art of Liam Barret.
strae is a pseudonym for the digital artist Liam Barrett. Not long ago, he discovered the world of generative art and creative coding, in which he invested all his curiosity. With the feelings of the unknown and mystique as two of his main inspirations, he creates visuals that embody both of those themes combined with a creative vision.

“Not knowing what is at the end of the tunnel, navigating without sight, and following my gut are my main motivations when making visuals. With my generative art, it becomes a constant surprise, not only for the audience but also for me, to see what will come next. While creating these visuals, I will hold on to my name, which means ‘astray,’ as I get lost in the infinite possibilities.”
