Inaabisuhan na ng PHIVOLCS ang mga residenteng naninirahan malapit sa bulkan na maging handa at alerto.

Samantala, pinalilikas na ng Canlaon LGU ang mga residenteng nasa loob ng 4-km permanent danger zone ng volcano, dahil sa 'heightened seismic activity' ng Kanlaon.

Sen. Raffy Tulfo called for the passage of legislation ensuring that negligent employment agencies will be held liable over the deaths of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) abroad.

Presiding over the hearing of the Committee on Migrant Workers on Monday, August 12, 2024, Tulfo lamented the inaction of recruitment agencies on the plight of Filipina household workers Jelyn Arguzon and Riolyn Sayson, who reportedly died of natural causes in Saudi Arabia last July. The mere suspension of the operations of erring agencies is not enough, he said.

"Gusto kong makita ang recruitment agency na makulong, hindi man siya ilegal, pero [dahil] naging pabaya matapos niyang ma-deploy ang OFW sa ibang bansa," Tulfo said, as he stressed the urgency of enforcing more responsive measures to prevent recurring incidences of death of OFWs.

The DMW AKSYON Fund or the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund provides immediate assistance to OFWs and/or their families in distressful situations, economic downturn, natural disasters or human-induced emergencies, human-trafficking, and other ill-fated situations. It can be used for legal, medical, financial and other forms of assistance to OFWs, including repatriation, shipment of human remains, evacuation, rescue and any other analogous form of assistance to protect the rights of Filipino nationals.
