In Die Fernweh Oper you will visit a perpetual opera performed by a star in the form of a 50 ft tall opera singer named Asteria, who sings especially for you and about your foolish love for her. On Saturday 3 February, festival director Amir will lecture on one of his favorite topics. As reflected in films as Metropolis, The Matrix, Ex Machina, Her, Ghost in the Shell, the talk will address topics such as the “religion” of transhumanism, AI gods, posthuman cyborgs, and technological singularity. Elvis Homan (drums and electronics) and Boštjan Simon (saxophones and electronics) will play their composition for the Danish film Häxan (1922) on Day 1 of Altered States festival. Boštjan Simon’s contribution is a mesmerizing blend of saxophone melodies enriched with an array of electronic elements, including modular synthesizers, pedalboards, and various effects, creating an immersive soundscape. Elvis Homan complements this with his dynamic drumming, further augmented by his proficiency in modular synthesis and the Ableton software environment. In three rounds, starting at 18:45 August 38th will perform a cleansing ritual using only their voices. The ritual begins with a single voice, gradually joined by others to create a rich tapestry of sound. The music moves from abstract and gentle tones to folkloric calls and responses, powerful female choir sounds, including citations of Ukrainian and Latvian folksongs.
