אחרי 95 ימים בכלא הצבאי סרבן המלחמה בן ארד שוחרר סופית מצה"ל. בחודש הבא ייתייצבו ויסרבו הסרבנים איתמר גרינברג, אורין מילר ויובל מואב.

מבן נמסר לאחר שחרורו: "אחרי תקופה של ארבעה חודשים, השתחררתי מהכלא הצבאי ואני לא אחזור יותר.
התחושה משמחת מצד אחד ומאכזבת מצד שני, אולי ציפיתי להשתחרר ולמצוא שאחרי עשרה חודשים שהמלחמה עדיין מתנהלת הציבור והמדינה ייראו יותר נכונות לחתור לכיוון הפתרונות ארוכי הטווח האמיתיים שיכולים להביא יציבות ושלום לחיינו.

ביציאתי מהכלא מצאתי רק עוד מן הקיצוניות והעקשנות המסוכנת שהרעילו את החברה שלנו טרם נכנסתי לכלא.
בית המשפט הגבוה ביותר בכדור הארץ פסק שהכיבוש בגדה המערבית הוא בלתי חוקי ויש לסיים אותו מיד, הפסיקה מגיעה יום לאחר הצבעת הכנסת נגד הקמת מדינה פלסטינית ובעד המשך הכיבוש.

הבנייה הבלתי חוקית ממשיכה עם הקלות מהממשלה וסיוע בטחוני מהצבא.
אל לנו להניח למדינה לגזול מאיתנו ומאחינו את החירות הבטחון והשוויון המגיעים לנו, אמשיך להתנגד ולהילחם למען עתיד טוב יותר כפי שעשיתי כשהייתי בכלא.

לא נוכל להביס את הטרור מבלי להתמודד תחילה עם הנסיבות המאפשרות את קיומו."

Ben Arad is free! After 95 days in military prison, war refuser Ben Arad has finally been released from service in the IDF. Next month, the refuseniks Itamar Greenberg, Oryan Mueller, and Yuval Moav will also object to their army conscription.

Upon his release, Ben said: “After a period of four months, I have been released from military prison and will not return there.

I feel happiness on one hand and disappointment on the other. Maybe I was expecting to be released and find that, after ten months of war, society and the state would show more willingness to seek real, long-term solutions that could bring stability and peace to our lives.

Upon my release from jail, I only found more of the extremism and hostile stubbornness that had a toxic effect on our society before I was imprisoned.

The highest court on Earth has ruled that the occupation of the West Bank is illegal and must end immediately. This ruling came only a day after the Knesset voted against the possible formation of a Palestinian state and in favor of continuing the occupation.

Illegal construction continues with support from the government and military assistance from the army. We mustn’t let the state deprive us and our brothers and sisters of the liberty, safety, and equality that we deserve. I will continue to resist and fight for a better future as I did when I was imprisoned.

We can’t defeat terrorism without first addressing the conditions that enabled its existence.”
